Originally, Vanessa Dorman was to portray the character of 'Tiffany Thorne' in Sunset Beach (1997) but she got the role of Kayla Richards instead (the character name Kayla was changed to Caitlin before filming began).

In 1982 Tonya Pinkins had a test deal for Angie on AMC but it was cancelled because An offer was out to Debbi Morgan who accepted the role.

 

In 1990, The casting director remembered her from 1982 and cast her as Livia Frye Cudahy

Back in 2019 when Sydney Mikalya took over the role of Trina Robinson, both Tabyana Ali (Who replaced Mikalya as Trina in 2022) & Raven Bowens (who currently plays Chanel on DOOL) were up for the role 

For this thread, can we start including citations? While it's great to hear these details it's not possible for everything to be considered "true" if there is no source or link to back up claims.

Hmm... maybe Jennifer Horton? She's the only one I can recall that did not return due to the pandemic off the top of my mind.

Something happened that made Eileen Davidson not want to do either Ashley Abbott on Y&R or Kristen Blake on DOOL. Something happened that made Kristian Alfonso not want to do Hope.

I think they've both been pretty clear that the "something" was money (or the lack there of) and respect with regard to storytelling in relation to their tenure on their shows.

Yes, money, schedule, respect, I think so, too, but since it came up in the time of the pandemic, I thought it was worth a maybe mention.

Eileen Davidson has gone on record, multiple times, stating she doesn't want to do either role full-time. Never said she wouldn't do recurring guest spots, which she's done for both roles, since the pandemic.
