I don't even really watch most of Reid's stuff with Luke. I prefer him with Katie, Henry, and the Hughes. I would be fine with them moving Reid out of that orbit entirely. If this were QAF and there were some chance of him having some passionate relationship with another man it might be one thing but what is he going to do, jump up and down on a bed? Just keep him in the hospital stories and the rivalry with Chris, and then at the end bring back a gay Andy Dixon or some long lost gay Hughes relative (Ryder?) and they can start dating.

Well I just joined a Reid and Luke soap board...lol. It's all about them. I feel bad for ESS because of the nutty Noah fans. I like how Reid is the anti Noah.

Anthony Langford who blogs for AfterElton seems to be a big Reid/Luke fan. I hope he leads the charge against the Nuke fans. I would love it if the Nuke fans got a good beatdown at the ATWT luncheon from the Reid fans. It would be humorous.

You know I wouldnt have minded him with katie either because of what you posted above. And LMAO at your Nuke fans going crazy...lol. I hear they(Luke and Reid) are getting some lovin on the soap mags too by fans.

By September it will over for Nuke fans one way or another. Luke and Reid are a couple or ATWT cancellation. I hope ESS finds more work on TV. I think he is a fine actor.

Gays of Our Lives is a great column, Langford covers all the foreign soaps and the US soaps. He really is not a Noah fan, the comments area can be entertaining sometimes for that reason.

Yes, it's sad he was cast now when the show is ending. The only good thing is that he will be on the show till the end in September. He is the best find ATWT has had in a long time. I agree with you. He is really into the role not like cough...Jake Silbermann..cough...who seems NOT to want to play a gay character.

I simply can't say enough how much I'm loving Reid's presence in this storyline. He has energized this show and Luke and Noah's storyline in innumerable ways. Reid is arrogant, rude, obnoxious and egotistical, but you can't help but love him (well, except for Noah fans, who are seriously misguided in their hatred of this character.) It's a credit to Eric Sheffer Stevens to have made Reid so likable and appealing. Having such a wonderfully acted, well-written gay character on our screens only makes the show's cancellation more regretful.

As for the scenes this week, the chemistry between Luke and Reid continues to be combustible as the show builds to the moment when they finally realize they are attracted to one another. It's really amazing what this story has done for Van Hansis as Luke, who has come alive as an actor after being trapped in bad story after bad story for the last couple of years.

And Jake Silbermann's portrayal as a blind man is simply awful and unconvincing (you know where to send the hate mail, folks). When Noah was first blinded, the actor kept making eye contact with his scene partners. Now, he doesn't even look in their direction when speaking to them. Both methods are extremely distracting.

A poster at the SOC posted this. I really liked what he/she had to say about Nuke and Reid...and Goutman

As much as I crucify Goutman, I believe that he came up with and campaigned hard for Luke's coming out, for Van to be the actor to tell that story, and supported the idea of Noah and Luke falling in love. I also think that he knows that he dropped the ball, and so came up with this Reid character as penance. At the end of the day, I think P&G/Telenext called the shots in this mess that is Noah's character arc, and now that the show is cancelled and they are out of the soaps biz, they are letting Goutman end ATWT in whatever way that pleases him so long as there are no orgies and Emma uses Tide.

What that means for LuRe , who knows, because also at the end of the day, Goutman, IMO, is the devil.

I don't give Goutman any credit. He should have recast the role of Noah almost immediately when he saw that JS was a sh!tty actor. Instead he let JS with his limited abilities contribute to ruining what should have been a groundbreaking gay romance. Goutman should also be slammed because it is obvious that he going to reunite Noah and Luke in the final episode instead of shipping Noah and Luke off to different continents and leaving Reid as King of the ATWT.

I just realized...Reid is TOTALLY the character we wanted to see on the show about a year ago. Remember? The rude bastard who's not above poking for fun and fun alone? Reid's a little softer than I'd like (the whole falling for Luke thing, but eh, whatever ticks 'em off), but he's close to exactly what I asked for last year.

I think Reid was made softer sooner because of the cancellation. I think this story would have dragged out longer had it not been for the cancellation of the show. The Reid and Luke pacing could be slower but it's a better speed than Luke and Noah story ever was.
