April 2, 201015 yr Member Wow a 1.6 for OLTL on Friday. That's not good. I remember I thought that episode sucked too. Wasn't that Kish rally/boycott thing that day too? Wonders if that has anything to do with it. Whole show stinks, so probably just people in general getting fed up and bailing. I've also always been amazed by the gap between Y&R and B&B. Perhaps time for Brad to retire and let someone else revitalize the show. Edited April 2, 201015 yr by wingwalker
April 2, 201015 yr Member Wow. Horrible numbers for EVERYONE. Even GH #'s are BAD with this gain. ABC soaps are one HOT mess...I don't know why Frons still has a job. Do they not see this. Both AMC/OLTL are down over 100,000 in teh key demos from last year... What the hell is Frons doing to keep his job??!! Don't worry Frons will be out of a job when AMC and OLTL are cancelled soon. 1.(1) Y&R: Friday: 3.7/5,436,000 (+400,000) 2.(2) B&B: Friday: 2.3/3,310,000 (-18,000) 3.(4) DAYS: Friday: 1.9/2,675,000 (+74,000) 4.(7) ATWT: Friday: 1.8/2,614,000 (+371,000) 5.(3) GH: Friday: 1.9/2,537,000 (-122,000) 6.(6) AMC: Friday: 1.7/2,208,000 (-55,000) 7.(5) OLTL: Friday: 1.6/2,192,000 (-93,000) This is interesting. B&B got no bump from Y&R huge jump but ATWT did.
April 2, 201015 yr Member 7.(5) OLTL: Friday: 1.6/2,192,000 (-93,000) That's GL territory. Somebody better get it together over there. AND FAST. Edited April 2, 201015 yr by Eric83
April 2, 201015 yr Member What the hell is Frons doing to keep his job??!! It still amazes me this man has a job after what he's done to ABC Daytime. ABC is the only network I've seen that will reward someone for being a failure at their job

April 2, 201015 yr Member CBS really needs to put something else after Y&R.Too bad Barbara Bloom isn't interested in launching a new soap project that could poach off of Y&R's success. Something CBS owned, set in a coastal California town that could make use of location shoots(with proper cameras, of course), and something exciting and fresh, at least in terms of story. Basically, a B&B clone without the B&B name, without the B&B writing/on-camera talent and something they can distribute internationally and make money from. That B&B .8 gap in 18-49 demos is atrocious! How do you lose .8????? Come on, Brad Bell! Step down, you fool. Yeah, B&B has never been a demos soap. I always found it weird that the gap between Y&R/B&B are so far apart while the ABC soaps are generally close together. That .8 gap just looks so bad. It's been widely speculated that people who watch Y&R(especially in the Midwest where the show airs immediately following The Price is Right at Noon/11CST) switch to the ABC or NBC lineup. B&B may have better households than the other soaps, but I think alot of it is largely due to a.)the Y&R audience that sticks around to watch the other CBS soaps and b.)soap fans who are exclusively PGP soap fans(yes, those DO exist in the offline soap community) watching B&B. I think it has a lot more to do with a.) than b.) really. If B&B wants to see itself beyond the next couple of years, it needs a better and more visually hands-on executive producer and fabulous writing team to sell us on the fantasy of Los Angeles. Despite the town being dirty, sketchy, and full of vanity, Southern California and Los Angeles have long been sold by TV shows as glamorous, exotic locales where anyone can fall in love. Visually, B&B sells LA as whitebread, Midwestern, and tepid. If B&B is canned, the only thing coming on in that timeslot will be another lame 30 min game show. But it would be cheaper to produce, and that's all that matters anyway. Most likely. Or time given back to the affiliates. If that happens, I'd expect some affiliates to expand newscasts and put Y&R in direct competition with AMC(first and second half-hours), which would absolutely kill the show. Didn't Susan Flannery said in an interview if Brad wins an Emmy, he will step down? WTF?! That [!@#$%^&*] passed already. Even SF is not acting these days...I don't know where that quote even came from. Brad Bell stepping down from his own show to "retire" early?! Every man has ego. April 2, 201015 yr Member Don't worry Frons will be out of a job when AMC and OLTL are cancelled soon. ABC will put him somewhere else. He's made Soapnet huge, he'll tell them. He's the Jeff Zucker of ABC.

April 2, 201015 yr Member That's GL territory. Somebody better get it together over there. AND FAST. I think it's too late. I have a feeling by December or so we will be hearing about OLTL cancellation...or sometime in 2011. Kill Y&R? Or AMC? It would hurt both but would definetly mean the end for AMC. ABC will put him somewhere else. He's made Soapnet huge, he'll tell them. He's the Jeff Zucker of ABC. I barely see SoapNet anymore. I remember it use to be the channel to watch and get. Now its pure [!@#$%^&*].
April 2, 201015 yr Member Kill Y&R? Or AMC? Y&R of course. Old people are creatures of habit. And there's no way diehard AMCers on the East/West coast will choose Y&R over their show. Recipe for disaster, really.
April 2, 201015 yr Member Not to mention, there's one Southern CBS affiliate that has never aired B&B. Several southern/midwest affils. One that even puts the show on after Craig Ferguson! I'd love to come home to B&B at 1:37 in the morning, shithammered from the bars. I'm sad I wasn't old enough to have that experience with Sunset Beach. Edited April 2, 201015 yr by bellcurve
April 2, 201015 yr Member Didn't Susan Flannery said in an interview if Brad wins an Emmy, he will step down? WTF?! That [!@#$%^&*] passed already. Even SF is not acting these days... I did a Google search and found this in one of Nelson's column. Is this good or bad news? Word is that Brad Bell plans on quitting as the campy soap's show runner should he win an Emmy Award this August. According to an interview with Emmy winner Susan Flannery (Stephanie) in an Australian magazine, TV Soap, La Flannery squeals, "I said to Brad, 'You're not going to retire if you win!' I know that is what he wants to do. As soon as he wins best writing, it's over." I wonder if Flannery will punish Bell for announcing his early retirement, much like he reportedly did to the acting goddess when she revealed she wanted to quit the show last year. Ironic, huh? http://tvguide.ca/So...s_report_NB.htm
April 2, 201015 yr Member The demos for most of the soaps are horrible, but I doubt that they will stay that way any more than I think that GH's ratings will keep this minor gain. Edited April 2, 201015 yr by Ann_SS
April 2, 201015 yr Member 7. DAYS 17,000 (-12,000/-31,000) This is such an interesting stat. Why would 2/3 of all teenaged girls decide DOOL is not the soap for them anymore?
April 2, 201015 yr Member Good for GH, the show is great again. Never been a Days fan but where is the Days craze? When the ratings were up a couple of weeks ago, everybody were raving about this show. Now the ratings are down and people are complaining??? but 2 weeks ago it was awesome?? I find that rather strange Anyway, hope AMC and GH pass Days soon
