Amanda dated WHOOOO????

Okay...I know @Cat and @DaytimeFan aren't down for RHoL due to a certain LoL-er, but she won't be appearing until Episode 5 according to her so might you watch the first episode? :) I know I would love both of yours London expertise and knowledge.

It kind of felt like a throwback to the old international RH shows, didn't it? The way it ambled along at its own pace, introducing all the women separately. Because i recognise many of the locations, it really felt like London had become that elusive 'sixth character' to me. I mean, Amanda must have driven around Lowndes Square in her Bentley a full two hours to get that shot of her talking to her dog and other drivers, lol.

Belgravia and Chelsea: the locations are impeccable; this really is where the wealthy live. Amanda's gated home is near Groom's Place, a location @DaytimeFan may know. Karen is having her house refurbished on Wilton Crescent, one of THEE most expensive and gorgeous,early-1800s streets in London. As far as cast members, those two stood out for me: Amanda is the queen been, the one the others are going to be all jealous of. And Karen just has this inate elegance, but also humour, and something which chimes with the audience, that 'OMG is this really happening right now?' look on her face when Panthea started to pick a fight with Juliet Mayhew.

I think Panthea may become annoying real quick if she keeps wanting to start fights with the women. But I can see why she's there. I like Juliet M and Nessie fine, but it's early days with them. Weirdly, im waiting to see what the infamous other Juliet, Angus, brings to this franchise.

I didn't get to finish. :(

But yaaayyy for all the information you are giving. So they are coming across authentic. And I liked the flow so far. I saw online some people thought it was slow, setting up everything, but I found it very conversational which I loved because it felt like two friends (one being us the audience) getting caught up on information/tea. Amanda and Karen are also my early faves. I also pick up on how London really did feel like its own character, even a little light touch on the vibe of Ladies of London...very, very slight.

Juliet brings Caroline. ;)

RHOC:

They need to do a major revamp because the current cast is not working.  I also think this constant gossip and trying to ruin one another is a format that needs to retire, and we go back to the original concept of the reality show.

Only problem is that most of the women aren't interesting enough to have solo segments that pop.

RHOM

I've been catching up on RHOM and am behind on RHOC, because the impetus to watch RHOM has been stronger for me. I love this show soooo much. It's the first time in a while that I've wondered how much fun to be on a trip to Seville with these ladies. With BH, I dread the trips, because they seem so toxic and mean spirited. Erika acting bored, and she and Kyke targeting someone. With Seville, I have especially enjoyed the,FOHs who don't feel like FOHs to me. Adriana, Kiki and Marysol.  Adriana is amazing, and her and Guerdy are a great double act. It is crazy to me that other cast members are trying to ice them out when they have been a delight on the trip (mostly). Marysol has been a pretty great hostess. Even Stephanie trying to ice out Adriana, Guerdy and Lisa from The Plane left Marysol feeling like that was ridiculous and Stephanie needed to grow up.

Larsa has been better this, season, but her targeting Lisa constantly is very strategic and im bored with it.

Lisa in her incredible goddess dress tripping in front of horrified diners was a moment you couldn't improvise.

Bring on Marbella!

I just watched RHOC and Tamra proved why she is an RHOC icon and THE template for RH villian. She should teach a masterclass bc the way she flipped Naked Wasted from 15 years ago to make Gretchen and Katie the villains is something that needs to be studied. My hats off to her. She's goood

I feel like it's an unpopular opinion, but I totally agree!!!

I'm loving Miami too!  The only thing that's starting to drive me crazy is Stephanie and her constant "hey look, I'm rich". Her 22-minute plane 'issue' was so eye-roll worthy, especially when she started making a seating chart. How childish. I also don't get why she was so upset and crying and had to leave the dinner because she was "embarrassed". She was literally creating a scene in public at another dinner before this, beating on her chest and calling Alexia a gorilla (or whatever it was).

1,000%! Stephanie did her chest-beating gorilla act at a fancy restaurant, and nobody had a fit. But at the tourist-trap eatery the next night, Miss Try-Hard had to make another show. Also, why is she playing the private-jet card yet again? Alexia already called her out on that BS. Why is she threatening to lock people in a closet on that thing? It's 22 f***ing minutes. Most of the women will be napping the whole way over. I'm sick of hearing about it.

Stephanie is a Pick-Me. She plays the loudmouth 'I said what I said' type, but is desperate to be noticed by the 'cool girls,' aka Las Cubanas and Larsa. She thought that by making Adriana the bad guy, she'd win them over, but even they are tired of jumping through hoops just to park their ass on that effing plane.

Agreed, and I think that's the problem for a lot of these Housewives shows these days with newer casts.

[Side note: To provide a soap analogy as I tend to do, it's like watching seasons 5 & 6 of Melrose Place, where most of the original cast is gone; i.e. the cast that was firmly established in roots in the first season so that by the time they cranked up the crazy, we still understood where the OG's were coming from. Once they had the cast turnover from Season 5 to 6, we had just a few OG's left and were otherwise flooded with newbies with no firm establishment; it was just plot after plot with no substance or reflection. That's how present-day Housewives are to me, where they just immediately get thrown into petty stuff or have to dig up dirt, but we see no growth or anything that resembles genuine, organic friendships. ]

With some of our shows on hiatus, hubby and I randomly picked Season 9 of RHOC to watch in reruns. At first, it was just going to be a one eppy thing, but then we got engrossed in it and I remembered this was the first season where I actually liked the show. They had just done a mini reboot of axing Gretchen, Alexis, and one-season Lydia, and rebuilt around Vicki, Tamra, Heather (only 1 season under her belt), and newbies Shannon and Lizzie.

I can't imagine these shows working with only 5 castmembers now. And actually, the first 3 episodes only had 4 castmembers, as Lizzie didn't premiere until the 4th episode. But back then, we still had a lot of family interaction -- interaction that was interesting -- such as Vicki with her children, Heather & Terry and their 1st of many house projects, Tamra starting up CUT fitness with Eddie, and meeting Shannon and her very awkward, uncomfortable marriage with David. When the cast interacted, it was a lot of light-heartedness with only some shade and tension (this was when Vicki & Tamra thought Heather was too snooty).

Okay, I digress...

In addition to the intel and digging up dirt on people's marriages, businesses, kids, past, etc. to weaponize it for the show, I also find it obnoxious when half the story takes place through screenshots of texts, instagram posts, instagram comments, instagram DM's, tweets, twats, X's, etc.  I know it's the world we live in now with our phones being an extension of ourselves, but to me it gets convoluted and sometimes hard to follow, or I just lose interest in trying to follow along (it doesn't help that Bravo gives us such a short time to read some of the mess; I'm not going to be constantly pausing to read endless receipts).

To summarize a long random post, I also wish they'd go back to the way things were run in the earlier seasons; it's what made them so popular in the first place!  Okay, back to work I go :)

Whole seasons revolving around off camera off season antics and people that aren’t even cast members is KILLING these shows.

I watched the first two episodes today and I was delighted with the show. It gives strong Melbourne energy and that's a major compliment. I've often found that the very top tier of the RH universe is the international editions, unburdened by Bravo. This show is no different in that regard. The production values were so good. They invested real money in making London shine and these women, for the most part, have the bucks to back it all up.

Well, I can see Gizelle wouldn't like THIS Karen. Her of the 5 homes. hehe.

I don't think I will be able to finish today cuz it is already past my bedtime and internet connection almost always has an issue with those links, but I'm liking it so far.

The moment Karen Loderick-Peace mentioned, with total reverence, that Joan Collins lives around the block from her...it was love.

I concur 100% with @Cat's assessment of the show and the cast. I certainly know Groom Place well and Caroline and Karen are definitely living in the best postcode in Great Britain. I think Caroline is softer than she appears on first glance, especially in the scene with her stepdaughter. Karen is fabulous and open minded.

I think Panthea has the potential to be really grating, really quickly. The crack about her peaking in the 2000s rang very true. As well as the remark about her living in Mill Hill...while her quiet obsession with wanting to emulate where the Royal Family sent Princes William and Harry to boarding school (Eton) is so tacky. Her mother seemed like a nightmare. That she was bringing up an issue with Juliet M from 6 years, pre-Covid...yikes.

Agreed about Juliet M and Nessie. Early days but both seem pleasant.

Juliet A will be the tacky bull in a china shop that she always is. But I think Caroline will destroy her without breaking a sweat.

Could someone perhaps DM me a link for London. I’m seeing loads of positivity here and on Reddit for it and @DaytimeFan you saying it gives Melbourne could not be a bigger ringing endorsement as I honestly would put seasons 1-4 of Melbourne against any of the top US seasons, that’s how highly I view those seasons of Melbourne. I never saw season 5 and I really have no interest in watching without both Giner or Lydiot. The core cast of Melbourne was perfect even the ones I didn’t like.

Karen might be coming home next week!

I wish Karen so well. I hope her time behind bars has humbled her and given her the time to get sober and confront the issues at the root of her drinking.

I also hope Bravo has cameras up and ready in Potomac for her arrival home.
