Why does everyone want Vicki? She was an absolute nightmare. I never liked her and the whole Brooks thing should have had her sued and fired. I didn't watch last season (except for reunion) so I don't know how the season went, but I was not crazy about the new women.

Kelly demolished Tamra do bad that she deleted all her tweets lol. Told her that she is next to be fired after Vicki and let's see if Eddie sticks around without her Bravo paycheck! I died!

Overall I will say I welcome RHOC after BH, but it was a flat premiere. Keeping Gina and Emily was a mistake IMO. I've been lamenting the loss of glamour from the show and this was no different. Imagine if Lydia and Heather were around instead of Gina/Emily. The house porn and wealth would've taken this to another level.

Kelly and Shannon were fabulous. Tamara's Trump feud story isn't appealing to me. Ryan has been making disgusting transphobic and racist remarks on Twitter for years. That she thought it was a good idea to feature him is shocking. And bravo gave him a talking head? Nope. Not interested. Braunwyn was EXCELLENT and the first promising HW since Peggy/Lydia. She seems fun, love all the kids and she seems like she lives a fabulous life.

I will say it did feel very weird without Vicki, but mainly because you still had dead weight taking up so much screentime. Emily at least kinda fits even if she is dull, but there was far too much Gina for my liking.

That was a pretty ho-hum OC premiere for me.

First of all, YES, Vicki is needed. Love her or hate her, she is an integral part of this franchise. To me, she centers the show and without her, it was just a bunch of fluff, especially with Emily, Gina, Braunwyn, etc.

Braunwyn definitely shows promise and seems fun. I'm not here for the Brady Kids + Cousin Oliver's antics, but I hate kids in general, and when you have newbies, the kids are turnt up for the cameras so everything is hyped. Give 'em a couple years and they'll be so disinterested like Joe & Melissa's kids on NJ

Good for Shannon for dropping the weight and having a positive attitude! Much, much improved over her sorry pessimistic ass these past few years. Sadly, all that extra weight really aged her (just look at her first season!) but she's getting it back together. Kudos.

Emily. Meh.

Gina. Yikes. What is happening with this one? She seems to have taken on Shannon's weight gain and we're watching it as it happens. Her various talking heads show her getting larger. The peroxide hair is all sorts of wrong. She actually looks like a different person with the weight gain and hair. Almost like Meghan McCain... not a look I'd aspire to replicate.  Overall, Gina seems like a wreck both on and off screen. I guess she's this season's basket case.

Kelly. Ugh. I've never been a huge fan of hers or her personality. Too much Kelly on this episode. She cannot carry this show. But if she gets white girl wasted in front of Vicki next week, at least that'll be good trainwreck TV.

I don't know what the Twitter feud is, re: Kelly vs. Tamra.  What's the Cliffs Notes on that?

Tamra is fine I guess. I always thought of her son as white trash, and seeing him as a Fox News-watchin' Trumpeter is all the confirmation I needed on that. I wonder how Eddie is doing, health-wise? He doesn't seem as muscular as he used to be.

Overall, it was a very soft premiere and my interest only piqued when I saw next week's episode with Kelly being her sloppy self towards Vicki.

I would have dumped Gina and kept Emily.  Vicki will play a big part in he show...but OC, like NJ, has always been more family oriented...and Briana isn't on anymore and Mike doesn't want to be on...so I could see why she was demoted.

I like seeing the kids to reinforce my choice of not pro creating is a smart one lol

You took the words right out of my mouth! Vicki is a tentpole HW and her longstanding relationships with Tamra, Shannon and Kelly power the show. Without her there, what TF is the point of Kelly? She was being a giant a-hole grump, bitching and moaning about a HW who is no longer being featured. Basically, without Vicki, Kelly Dodd (who I am not the biggest fan of either) has no reason to breathe. Because unless Kelly is violently threatening somebody, she offers little to the franchise.

It makes me laugh reading @Chris B's account of the Kelly-Tamra Twitter fight, and Kelly thinking her word could get Tanra fired. AS IF! Sit DOWN, Kelly Dodd. Bravo did not demote Vicki Gunvalson to appease your sorry ass -- they demoted her because they are trying to cut OG salaries. (Also, Kelly needs to stop with the nose jobs which are chiselling her nose away to nothingness).

Ryan, a MAGA? We been knew. He's always struck me as someone painfully eager to blame others for his shortcomings. And that's what Trump legitimises and encourages on a daily basis. You're a shitty person? Must be some immigrant's fault!

The role of Gina Kirchen Smurfin is now being played by Mamie van Doren:

If i were not laid up because of a knee problem I would not have watched RHOC, but I watched, and I was bored out of my mind. I skipped the Ryan stuff (after reading about it here) because I'm just not listening to that garbage.

Who is there to root for on this show? Gina is a drunk and could have killed someone. I'm supposed to feel for her? Emily has yet another emotionally abusive spouse. How is that entertaining?

Everything felt flat and produced/scripted. Kelly's trip to the cat village had me eye rolling.  I don't care about the new girl. Bronwyn I think. I don't want to see a woman who has seven kids. I loathe kids, and I will never understand why Bravo thinks viewers want to see brats running around their screen.

I didn't miss Vicki because I find her to be a sociopath. I have never really liked RHOC because it's too much religion and republicanism for me, but with this cast, I just don't care about any of them.

I agree. When I got into Housewives way back when in 2011, OC was the one that took me the longest to warm up to because, as you said of the current cast, there weren't many endearing castmembers to root for. This was the days of Vicki, Tamra, Gretchen, Jesus Jugs, and Peggy 1.0.  Once they brought on Heather and then Shannon (and Lizzie!) and got rid of Gretchen and JJ, I finally gave a damn about the ensemble.

That's funny, because I miss the days of Gretchen and Alexis.  I haven't been as into the OC the past few seasons like I was back in Seasons 5-9.  After Shannon's first season, it's slowly gone downhill for me.  Seasons 4-9 really were their golden era.

THE OC: I think OC has the same problem as rhobh. I don't buy these women like each other. It feels as if Tamra and Shannon only forgave Vicki because they thought their jobs were dependent on it. I might like Kelly if she didn't come across as such a psycho and her scenes with her daughter seem scripted as well. Maybe they're not, but I don't buy them.

At last season's reunion, I remember thinking Gina was somewhat interesting for calling perpetual victim Shannon out on her stuff, but I completely forgot about Emily. I can't remember one thing she said or did. I think the cancer scam harmed the show because that's a horrible thing to come back from and how could you trust anything that comes out of Vicki's mouth? The people who seem to support Vicki are the ones that want Phaedra back on RHOA, but that woman should have beeb disbarred and jailed. The only reason to have Phaedra back is to have shirtless Apollo scenes.

On a side note, what happened to Terry Dubrow's face?

Potomac

WHEN will Gizelle be called out on her hatred of Monique? It is so ugly, and so telling. She is deeply jealous of everything Monique has in her life, including a kind, supportive husband. I really like Monique this season and find it increasingly beyond the pale how Gizelle is trying  to 'bring down' a heavily pregnant woman.

Not here for Ashley giving Giz a free pass either! Ashley really has no friends on this show, but she cannot even admit it. And just when I feel sorry for her, she and the Cryptkeeper pull some fake sexy talk out of their asses. HORK.

I believe Katie would definitely be included in this year's reunion if something significant wasnt going on behind the scenes. It's clear something is off.

RHONY

I already miss this show.

It ended on a bittersweet note though. I have been a huge Dorinda fan since day one, but the bloom is coming off the rose. Calling Barbara a fat little turnip was outright mean. I personally thought Barbara was kind and funny and dont understand the animosity towards her. I know Luann was a self-involved PITA this season, but watching Dorinda go after her every episode wasn't edifying either. Dorinda explicitly target the weak links, as evidenced by her attacks on Sonja in seasons past and on Tinsley most recently. Not a great look.

    • I think the gross ickiness is Josh Griffith's intention. At birth, Ian Ward stole Mariah from Sharon, so that Sharon knew only of the Cassie twin and not the Mariah twin.  Sharon gave up Cassie for adoption at birth, never knowing that Mariah existed. When Ian Ward stole baby Mariah, he had her be raised by a woman member of his cult. She grew up in his cult. Years later, after Mariah was an adult in Genoa City and had left him, he tried to kidnap her to marry him himself, I sort of remember some icky scenes where he had arranged a wedding, but she escaped or was rescued -- it was so gross that I chose to forget it, and I don't want to look up the details. Mariah is feeling traumatized/triggered by Ian Ward being in Genoa City several months ago, because he was obsessed with her, and he terrorized her loved ones, interacted with Tessa, and drugged Sharon, which ultimately resulted in the death of Heather -- causing the grief of Daniel and Lucy. None of that was Mariah's fault. But she was so horrified by what happened, that she feels she did something wrong that caused this hateful villain to continue to obsess about her.   Based on small comments that Mariah made recently, I think she feels completely worthless. I gather that when she was away on the business trip a month or two ago, all of what happened with Ian Ward and Heather's death just hit her all at once and she was mentally/emotionally collapsing, and just felt unable to call for help.  During the business trip she sat in her hotel room and spiraled more, feeling more and more worthless and afraid. Finally she started drinking at a bar, and that's when the creepy old man approached her.  By that point, she wasn't in her right mind, and started interacting with the guy.  Either she though he was Ian, or she thought he was someone like Ian, and she would be *required* to flirt with him in a role play, and do what he commanded, almost like old programming being reactivated.  Or perhaps just simple self-loathing playing out. I don't know if the guy actually knew Ian or Jordan, or if he was a random stranger.  But Mariah's fear/loathing/subconscious chaos kicked in. And then... well that's as far as her flashbacks have aired so far. She can't bear to face the rest of whatever it was.  I gather that in the coming episodes, we'll (eventually) find out what happened next as we see more of the icky flashbacks. --------------- The rest of this post is only my speculation: I think that she felt like she was supposed to have sex with him but didn't want to, and may have tried to kill him instead. Or he r*ped her.  Or they didn't have sex at all, but it's all convoluted in her mind.  Something horrible happened but I don't think it was her fault.  If the man died, maybe she covered it up?  I really don't know, I'm just speculating ideas. At any rate, I'm totally convinced that this is NOT a conventional "cheating storyline" where someone willingly has sex outside their relationship. ----------------- This is basically Josh Griffith's obsession with dark storylines, creepy villains, and terrible writing of "mental health issues".

    • Right. Literally for decades, soaps mesmerized their audiences with tales of romance, family conflict, class struggles, and recognizable interpersonal-relationship sagas. We didn't need relentless, heavy violence. We didn't need clones, mad scientists, extra-terrestrials and demon possessions. We didn't need gaggles of plastic himbos and bimbos pushing beloved vets off-screen. We only needed to see people whom we cared about, and the intelligent, moving progression of their lives. Flashy sets, gaudy gimmicks, and high-falutin' hairdos be damned. The characters and the words were important.
    • Absolutely! Brad should've simply moved on from Lunacy. There's no point of freeing her, if you're not going to at least make an attempt at redemption or incorporating her into the fold. It happened with Quinn, who committed quite a few felonies before become the Forrester Matriarch.  Heck, keep Lunacy in prison and have Poppy/Finn discover that she gave birth to twins - 'Sunny' could've come on with a clean slate and still had Sheila/Finn and all the other drama. It certainly couldn't have been worse than what we've witnessed with the destruction of $B.
    • I would enjoy it if Swan popped up on BTG as an old one time friend/mentor of Anita’s for a cameo. This is just

    • I had totally forgotten that Courtney story. I see Burton was already phoning it in by that point.
    • omg I completely missed that, but now when I see it typed here in your post, it's obvious icky cringe. So now I just checked and Tomas said that -- on May 27 that he likes the author Carl Ivati.  He said it with sort of an accent, so I didn't catch the stupid joke or think about the spelling.   I remember when that aired, that I actually said to myself at the time, "I wonder if that's a Latin American author, and I will have to google him later." And now I see your post, and I see. Well that's cringe, and I feel stupid to have fallen for it.

    • There's a lot you don't need if you have the writing.  You don't even need large casts!  You could make do with a cast of 12-18 actors if the writing is there.
    • Thank you. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping around if your spouse actually knows about it. She’s just a cheating slut.
