Alfie Allen, Gwendoline Christie, and Carice van Houten all self-submitted for Emmys because HBO thought they were long shots and didn’t bother.

They were all nominated yesterday, which apparently doesn’t happen much with self-submissions. GoT was, of course, riding a wave in its final season and scored 32 nominations, the most ever in a single year for a program.

But Kit Harrington and Emilia are shoe ins?  Ridiculous!  Absolutely ridiculous, but this is a show that didn't think Charles Dance was worth anything either.

Out of all the GoT noms, I'm only rooting for Alfie Allen for his great body of work throughout the entire series.

To be fair, they weren’t wrong about Kit and Emilia, who were nominated in the tougher lead categories.

They were absolutely wrong!  Just because Emilia can remember a script because she was given so much to do does not make her a great actress.  Kit?  Do I really have to explain this one?

But I'm sure HBO has the funds to get those statues.

I think Kit and Emilia are good people, but they definitely don't deserve a nomination. Ditto with Peter Dinklage and Lena.

I think whether or not they are deserving is another matter. All I’m saying is that their bets paid off. Probably pretty safe bets in a year when everyone and their daddy is getting nominated for GoT.

I'm mostly surprised they didn't try with Gwendoline Christie. Brienne was one of the most popular characters on the show. I rarely, if ever saw any negative comment about her. She also had a fairly large role in the last season.

Gwendoline, Carice and Alfie all did a great job over the years, when the writing was there and when it wasn't. Many of the main faces of the show seemed to struggle as the years passed, but they never did. I'm very happy for all of them.

I'd love to see Alfie win but in this case the nomination is the victory.

Question..I started watching from S3 and on S7 now.  In S6 when Cersei blew up the Sept, what was the point of the little kid leading Lancel to the basement?  I saw no point in it.  What am I missing?

To kill him, just as the other kids did Pycelle. The boy lured Lancel to a place where he was alone and he could be ambushed

Thank you, I thought I remembered him being attacked down there and having to watch as the sh.it to trigger the Bombs caught fire.
