December 14, 200916 yr Author Member I want to know who the TPTB at Y&R and AMC paid to get these nominations. Especially Y&R, as it's headed by two Fi-Core Head Writers, and one of them who left writing behind and came back during the strike and stayed there.... But Maria and Sheffer are left off due to their Fi-Core status, so that's good, I guess. I hope Y&R doesn't win. That show's crappy, bizarre, and inconsistent day to day writing and craptacular overall storytelling does not deserve to be validated, nor do the arrogant people on that writing team. I'm pulling for OLTL or ATWT, especially OLTL..... Edited December 14, 200916 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
December 14, 200916 yr Member Well no GH thank goodness but AMC - lordy no way. And where is Days or don't they get a nod because of the "alleged" writing issues during the strike.
December 14, 200916 yr Author Member Well no GH thank goodness but AMC - lordy no way. And where is Days or don't they get a nod because of the "alleged" writing issues during the strike. DAYS could have gotten nominated, but they would have excluded Dena Higley from the list, as she's Fi-Core, like they did with the two hack HW's at Y&R. I would have rather a nomination for than Y&R, at least DAYS has some consistent day to day writing. Edited December 14, 200916 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
December 14, 200916 yr Member with only 7 soaps on the air now, maybe its not about picking the 4 best, but exclusing the 3 worst
December 14, 200916 yr Member with only 7 soaps on the air now, maybe its not about picking the 4 best, but exclusing the 3 worst Well IMO AMC was one of the 3 worst with GH and Y&R. But is there ever a nod which does not include Y&R? But of course that's only my opinion. Edited December 14, 200916 yr by JaneAusten
December 14, 200916 yr Member This award lost its lustre about two decades ago. 4 nominees out of 7? Really? Calculate for yourselves the probability of being nominated (too big) and it all goes to pots. Besides, the judging procedure, the things it "values"... Forget it. But if Maria wins — count on her staying. That is, prolonging her stay. Except if the ratings don't plummet quickly and precipitously.
December 14, 200916 yr Member I am glad to see Frederick Johnson nominated, Melissa Salmons (for two soaps, no less), Courtney Simon, Michelle Patrick... And that's kind of about it.

Paula Cwikly is left off though, as she's also Fi-Core. I really hope Y&R doesn't win this... Edited December 14, 200916 yr by Y&RWorldTurner

I'm proud of Melissa too, I loved her scripts on Y&R, ATWT, and GL previously, and her scripts on OLTL are often the best on that show. I've always said you know someone is a great Script Writer when they write consistently good scripts for all the shows they've been apart of. I don't think she's ever been given enough credit for her work as a SW, well, not as much as some others. Edited December 14, 200916 yr by Y&RWorldTurner

December 14, 200916 yr What timeframe is this award for? I'm wondering the same thing. Wouldn't GL be in contention? If so that would make it four out of eight.
