Lorraine Broderick as AMC head writer

I certainly hope she can lure Michelle Patrick back to the show (again!) because they worked really, really well together the last time. I hope she does an overall of the dialogue team (bye bye Rebecca Taylor), and she MIGHT, because dialogue is really, really important to her.

Oh, god, I so hope this happens.

Even though I'm skeptical as to how many A-list writers she can bring on (like Johnson and Patrick). Then again, she might fire the abysmal ones and compensate.

Lorraine has been gone from daytime for five years, yes, but taking a break doesn't mean you have to be done for good, LOL. Five years away is ample time for her to recharge her batteries and miss daytime and want to come back to it. We once thought that Michael Malone would never return to daytime, either...

If they don't get on, I imagine JHC will just tell herself that Lorraine Broderick does not exist. It's just one of those silly made up things.

Lorraine worked for JHC during the Karen Harris era (she was a breakdown writer). I'm thinking they must have a good rapport.

I don't think JHC is going anywhere. They wouldn't have her move back to LA and then fire her. The show is going through enough of a transition with the move; doing an EP change would really send things into a spin at this point, IMO.

I think LB will bring some of her writers to the show. She tends to like to surround herself with people she knows, and people tend to follow her. She brought nearly the entire AMC team with her when she went to ATWT.

She worked with Courtney at both GL and AMC, so surely Courtney now has a better chance at landing at AMC too, as she still hasn't found a job since being ousted at ATWT.

Mitch was Whitesell and Broderick, yes. They'd planned to kill him off in February sweeps 2003, but Malone and Griffith extended it.

I thought Whitesell and Broderick's run was largely a cartoonish mess, but with a few good storylines and characters, specifically the baby switch arc with Natalie and Jessica which led to Mitch, and Max/Roxy. I credit her with anything good that happened. There was a lot of silly, memorable, funny stuff, but very little that was actually really good.

I think that without a Whitesell, she's be good for AMC.

I loved Max/Roxy, and I liked Natalie, and Bo/Gabrielle (at least in theory -- Gabrielle as hiding secret debts, or whatever, I didn't care for). I just wish they hadn't had that truly horrible sequence of Mitch drugging and raping Viki on the Llanfair living room sofa. And then Niki's return, which was, for many reasons, a huge disaster.

It's funny that the three who were a bit of a mess, to say the least, at OLTL at that time, may now be seen as saving soaps (hyperbole alert).

Daytime Confidential has been pretty accurate with AMC behind the scenes news in the past few months, so much so that I wouldn't even question their accuracy on this.

Inside sources at ABC say it is indeed true. Borderick is already at work.

Now this might finally be a step in the right direction. I'm sorry if it's been mentioned, I haven't read the whole thread and I was to young to pay attention to the credits back then...but didn't LB write Erica at Betty Ford? The time line seems like she did. That was the first time I remember seeing Erica, and I instantly saw how strong, how stubborn, how powerful she was. Though, she did that Maddie swap too, didn't she? Not one of Erica's better storyline's, but I thought Susan's acting after Erica's miscarriage was fantastic.

This is definitely someone who could put AMC back on the right path. :)

I see she worked with Melissa Salmons, too.

I was not a fan of Broderick's 1995-1997 go around on the show but I never thought the show was better than it was in the 1987-1993 era and she was a big part of that. It would probably help to add FMB, as Executive Producer, on top of this. I don't think that will happen, but it would be nice.

Ah if only... I still can't believe she almost got the job of head of ABC daytime over Frons :*(

What's Felicia Minei Behr doing anyway? Enjoying retirement?

Agreed with your first point--plus AMC is HER show in many ways--she grew up on it. Maybe it was an opportunity she couldn't pass by (can all us fans chuipin and get a big bouquet of flowers sent to her? :P )

You're probably right aboutJHCthough she is the next one I want out (unless her and Broderick or whoever she's with prove to be magic). She's been the connom denominator IMHO amongst all the suckage AMC has had the past--5? 6? years?

She's still very close with Lorraine, I recall her working closely with Lorraine's screenwriting students at Drexel last year about producing their projects for an assignment she gave.

I'm sure she's retired though, but does occasional work here and there.
