When I saw this I thought immediately of Alice Barrett-Mitchell. She has never been on any other soap besides AW and hasn't done much work elsewhere despite her fame as Frankie Frame.

AMC had Trent Bushey, who was incredibly handsome as David Rampal. And then he never appeared again. And the guy who played Will Cortlandt (the evil version) also never popped up anywhere, and the same for the guy who played Mark Dalton.

Off the top of my head:

AMC

Carrie Genzel (ex-Skye)- There was something about her that I can't put my finger on but I really liked. I always thought she had chops, but she really brought it toward the end of her run. I'm shocked she hasn't turned up elsewhere, save her brief stint as Original Nurse Alli on DAYS.

ATWT

Allison Rice-Taylor (ex-Connor)- Given her popularity on ATWT and her relatability, I thought for sure she'd pop up on another soap.

B&B

Dylan Neal (ex-Dylan)- Yeah he was on Dawson's Creek but I'm STUNNED that he never returned to daytime and that B&B hasn't tried to bring him back.

DAYS

Matt Cedeno (ex-Brandon)- Not the greatest actor but I expected to see him on Y&R or B&B for sure.

Lisa Linde (ex-Nurse Alli)- Given her breakthrough performance on DAYS, I thought we'd see her again over on GH or AMC.

LOV

Christine Tudor Newman (ex-Gwyn)- Love, love, love this powerhouse actress and she should be mixing it up with the Flannerys, Strassers, Sorels, and Grahns of daytime.

Robert Tyler (ex-Trucker)- He had that quiet, masculine, brooding quality that makes women swoon and casting directors take notice.

Y&R

Brenda Epperson (ex-Ashley)- Except for a lame bit part on Passions, we haven't heard from her in years. I was hoping when ED was fired from Y&R that they'd bring Epperson back but that was merely a pipe dream. I'd kill to see this woman back in daytime. One of my all-time faves.

Oh, contrare! According to her interview with Another World Today, she's been pretty busy.

Well, I’m still a working actor, which is entirely due to my manager who has stuck by me through so many years. For a while after Another World, I was kind of stuck in an age range where I was too mature to play the younger cool moms, and too young to play a mother of older kids. I literally had one line on my resume that represented seven years of hard work, which, in many ways, left me in the position of having to start over. I’ve just started getting jobs playing the mom of kids that are my own kids’ ages, in no small part due to my manager banging down doors and never giving up on me.

In January I shot a movie, 13, with Mickey Rourke, 50 cent, and Jason Statham. It’s a dark story where I play the mother of Sam Riley, who is just fabulous and gives a breakout performance.

Next I did, a movie called, ironically, Twelve, about rich kids in New York and excessive drug use. I play Chace Crawford’s mother. He was a really sweet guy. I even asked if they had cast his mother on Gossip Girl and he said ‘Sorry, but yeah.'

In 2008, I did a naughty little movie that may give all the Frankie fans pause. It's called Choke, with Sam Blackwell, based off a book by Chuck Palahniuk. I played a sex addict and did my first nude scene. It was a real leap of faith for me and was a bit nerve wracking, but I felt everything was handled with respect and treated beautifully. I really love the movie.

I also did a movie with Richard Gere called Brooklyn’s Finest where I play his wife. It was out a year ago and bought at Sundance. I think it’s currently being reedited. Hopefully I won’t end up on the cutting room floor!

Remember, people. This is a thread about all the wonderfully talented actors and actresses whose careers fell flat after their first job on a soap.

Another thing to ponder: do you think these outstanding, gifted actors and actresses gave up on acting because of the hectic, overwhelming nature of the daytime genre? Or did they bow out gracefully, for medical or family reasons?

Sadly it seems like AR-T gave up on acting with the triple blows of being dumped from ATWT, then losing a primetime job with Timecop, then her marriage ending. I loved her work as Connor so much, but she was never appreciated.

Carrie Genzel is one of those who learned to act right before our eyes and had a vulnerability, in spite of awful writing. She was amazing as time went on in that role, especially in scenes with Stuart.

I saw her on that misguided Flash Gordon TV show a few years ago. I guess she does a lot in Canada.

I liked her a lot too. I asked on here a while back because BC Loto here in BC Canada used to have a series of ad campaigns featuring a wealthy couple whow ere clueless about those working under them--anyway I SWORE the lady was her but couldn't find a youtube clip, or anyway to confirm. But she is from the Vancouver area, so maybe she moved back there?

YES. I have felt this since the moment Steffi helped her with that syringe.

Carrie Genzel was on the Flavor Flav show, no?

Carrie & Dylan have had a lot of work outside of daytime tho. Id love them both to return.

Lisa is married to James Marsden and they have a few kids. I cant even think of the last thing i seen her in/ But i loved her on Days. I love anyone who hated on Saint Carrie.

Patrika Darbo is missed. I would love her to pop up on another soap. Scott Bailey i enjoyed on GL and was surprised he didnt land on another soap, he was really good in Prayers for Bobby. Oh, also the actress who was Faith on GH. She was fantastic.

She was??? one of those reality shows??

Alice Barrett's, uh, been around. I freaked out when I saw Choke and boom, there she is fully nude, sitting on a toilet, ready to hump Sam Rockwell.

Still a beautiful woman, though, and very talented.

I saw a picture of Genzel and she looked like Heather Tom. Maybe she could have been Victoria. Even if she didn't have Tom's range, she would've at least looked like her.

No actually, after Flav vowed to settle down and stay away from reality shows for a while when his girlfriend had a baby, he did a sitcom on CW/MyNetwork earlier this year. I believe it's been cancelled for months now. What I could gather from promos, Carrie played sort of a stuffed shirt character opposite Flav's wacky persona.

I wasn't a big fan of Carrie as Skye, she just wasn't Skye to me though I thought she could have functioned perfectly well as a bitchy snooty Chandler, or similar character in another family or on another show. She does remind me a bit of Heather Tom, it's the dark look of their eyes and the prissy "Something smells" upturned nose thing they've got going.

I thought the way they introduced her as Skye ("Toni") was awkward and it felt like an afterthought, a dupe, or just bad execution. Remember, Scott (geesh, I think it was Shane McDermott) was doing some family video project and her face was on the TV screen and he told someone, "Oh, that's my cousin Skye, uncle Adam's daughter." I really didn't like that, I mean after weeks of seeing this woman floating around drugged in a nightgown. Unless a character has had reconstructive surgery, I want to know who a beloved recast is from the beginning.

Ben J's Chris wasn't a bad boy, he just didn't know where he was headed and he felt like a disappointment to his parents, especially Bob. He was like Casey is now. I totally related.

And OMG, Eddie/Georgia dull? What? Nooo! LOL. They were sweet, pure, innocent, transcendent, but with an edge from Eddie's past. They hooked me on ATWT right after AW ended, along with Chris (I hated Katie!), and Holden/Lily/Andy/Denise's baby Hope umbrella story (including Nurse Rita Renfield's memorable funny line to Reid/David, delivered in her cuckoo way -- "I KNOW who you are, Reid ... And I KNOW what you did last summer.") -- before Goutman/Laiman started and trashed the show.

Goutman/Laiman got rid of all the main reasons I had fallen so deep in love so fast for ATWT, and replaced it with superficial dreck, so I stopped watching in January 2000 and didn't think to come back until six and a half years later because of Luke. (So I never saw the Chris/Emily story you mention, so can't comment on it.)

Omg...I thought I was the only one on the face of the planet who loved ATWT shortly after AW ended. WOAK stuff...Eddie/Georgia...Sam/Kirk...Reid!!...all awesome stories. I loved just about all of it.

Here's a few actors I can think of at the moment...

Todd Rotondi (ex-Bryant ATWT)

Melissa Hayden (ex-Bridget GL)

Matt Cavanaugh (ex-Mark? OLTL)

Rebecca Hollen (ex-Trish GL)

Esta Ter Blanche(ex-Gillian AMC)

Paul Michael Valley (ex-Ryan AW)
