October 2, 200916 yr Author Member between spiderman and milk id bet MOST people know who he is, esp if you say the name to an image of him being showen.
October 2, 200916 yr Member I didn't read through all the pages but what about Brenda finds out that JF character is another missing child of Sonny.
October 2, 200916 yr Member That makes sense. It's a shame they didn't put him in stories with some of their best actors and characters. Then again, it could be worse -- he could be Sonny's long lost brother or something. I bet Brenda had a fling with him then found out that he's another of Sonny long lost children. October 2, 200916 yr Member A-List in terms of his star status or A-list in terms of the projects he's done and the projects he wants to do in the future? i.e. Hilary Swank is not an A-list star. But she is an A-list actress, appearing in more "art films" than Box office smashes and having earned two Oscars. A list in terms of star status. I know him because I'm a comic nerd and think he's hot. But I imagine most people don't know his name at all. When I think A list I think Brad, Angelina, George, Tom (Hanks or Cruise), Julia, etc.

When I think A list I think Brad, Angelina, George, Tom (Hanks or Cruise), Julia, etc. I think he is a lot more hip than those old fogies. He does mainstream stuff like spiderman but has that artistic cred from Milk, and now he is gracing magazine covers and whatnot and according to IMDB he has 3 or 4 movies coming out next year with some really current stars. Tom Hanks is 60 years old. Brangelina are of course beyond A List Emeritus, but they satisfy their quirky edges in other ways. I had to actually think for a moment who George was that you were talking about. James Franco is working with everyone from Tina Fey to Natalie Portman to, yes, Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem. If he isn't officially A list he will be in two years.
October 2, 200916 yr Member My head is still spinning over this -- although less than yesterday. I don't know if actors (apart from the recognizeable Clooneys, Pitts and Jolies of this world) can be classified as properly A or B-list anymore. There are those who are famous, there are those who are up-and-coming, there are those who have a lot of buzz behind them. Franco, I think, is somewhere in the second or third category. I mean, when was the last time a movie star with cachet came on a Daytime soap? Excluding reality "stars", sport stars and Big P***y from The Sopranos? Am taking this opportunity to introduce my new avatar: Carly and her new love interest. CarFranco? Edited October 2, 200916 yr by Cat
October 2, 200916 yr Member Regardless of his B list status, getting James Franco is a coup and likely a ratings boost for GH. I can't see any down side for GH anyway.

Tina is because of the Sarah Palin impression more than anything else. Artistic cred is great but the very message of Milk is rendered a laughingstock on a soap where homosexuality does not exist and guns are the awesomeness of awesome.
October 2, 200916 yr Member Artistic cred is great but the very message of Milk is rendered a laughingstock on a soap where homosexuality does not exist and guns are the awesomeness of awesome. I was thinking about this. Franco has chosen to go on the one of the soaps that has absolutely no diversity beyond tokenism and stereotypes and promotes gun violence. Guza and Phelps had GH's only gay character disappear into thin air. There has not been one gay character since. We have an African American president and there is no ethnic diversity on GH. Even B&B has a couple of regular African American characters now. The casual gun violence and use on GH is a whole other story. It goes to show that either Franco has no clue about these issues or he doesn't not care enough to find out.
October 2, 200916 yr Member Doesn't he share an agent with Steve Burton or something? But yes, I wonder how many of his fans really want to sit through thug worship. I almost wish someone would do a comparison video of the murder of Harvey Milk in the film, and the sleazy gun porn that GH revels in. Remember how often GH used to do those looooong, sloooooow montages of Jason surviving a hail of bullets and then nailing the "bad" mobsters? Edited October 2, 200916 yr by CarlD2

ATWT? If you don't look like Marie Wilson or Noelle Beck, there's no story for you. For whatever reason he decided to do this(whether it be school, film research, wanting a new, weird experience, or supporting a coke habit), I think James Franco just picked a show that was iconic and had pop culture resonance. I can't blame him for that. It's not like anyone would have watched him in Oakdale.

I was merely making the point that he could have chosen a soap with diversity. He obviously doesn't care which means that he certainly isn't cerebral as he tries to play.
