What was said was that Ruth (and in the book she clearly is joking here) said she would happily accept an under 5 walk on role just to get Irna to even consider her for an actual role.  But that is not what happened.  :)

I deleted your first sentence so we can see how you should be replying to me. Thanks.

I don't think her part on GL was very substantial when she started. Surely we can agree on that. If not then you are being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative.

For the love of God, would someone -- Errol, Toups, someone -- please fix the damn Ignore Users feature?  And if you can't do that, then just do us all a favor and ban this sanctimonious Nazi [!@#$%^&*]?

She was given a contract role.  That's a fact.  She wasn't a day player.

I appreciate your instructions!  Honestly, this is kinda hysterical and has brightened up my day, so I guess thanks!

Do you get a tingly feeling when posting stuff like that?

Now you're back to rude mode. Well actually you never left that mode, did you? :) You really don't seem to be able to communicate properly with me. Why is that?

And you keep showing others how argumentative you are. Like fighting over Ruth Warrick is going to bring you some great glory. It's quite odd to say the least. But carry on, if you must!

Why are you using that sort of screen name and not using your real given name? I can't really take a person seriously who posts anonymously on a message board. Maybe if you came out of hiding, your comments would seem a bit more legit, just a thought.

I got the sense from what Ruth wrote was that the GL role was hers from the outset but Irna (in her usual fashion) wanted things her way.

So her first day as an anonymous nurse became Nurse Janet Johnson in the following episodes.

As posted, many other actresses were finding movie roles hard to come by and accepted TV roles in NY as Ruth had done. It was just that Ruth had that connection with P&G that the soap role happened.

Her financial situation was a factor at the time. Maybe other actresses had made more money and could be choosier with roles.

Totally agree with your first paragraph. That's how I interpret it, not the way the other poster working on some research project keeps trying to spin it.

It was a power thing for Irna to show she was boss, she was in control. The role expanded after the first appearance. Ruth's movie appearance were sporadic in the early 50s. If she was accustomed to maintaining a certain lifestyle and had bills to pay, then she had to turn to TV to find work. Or else go into another sort of non-acting job.

Odd isn't it?  I don't seem to have that issue with anyone else on here.

You're trying to agitate again. Stop wasting your time. Please get back to discussing soaps. Thank you.

Maybe because you are a POS Nazi.  You made that very clear. You deserve nothing but dirt from the people on this board.  I knew you would show your true colors eventually. Loser trolls always do. Enjoy the attention because eventually the mods will come along and delete you.

Ahhh, so "FiresofLove" is an actual surname. Who knew?

Now we've reached the part of the show where you really want fight with a stranger on the internet. Let me grab some more popcorn.

I think you are using me to get attention. Those would be your true colors. Yes?

I notice you're still not volunteering your first name like I have. You're hiding. Why?

Oh, the fun I could have with THAT projectile comment.

But I shall refrain.

I'm kind like that. 😎

Still not telling others what your first name is. Seems strange to me. Maybe that gives you a false sense of power over others, I don't know.
