This oversells just how progressive GL was compared to earlier years (GL women didn't just sit around wringing their hands in the Agnes Nixon or even the Irna days, and JFP's era had tons of women-as-victims). Still, other than that talk, I was happy to get to see the interviews. I'd never seen them before.

No... but I remember them from their first air!

Yea, Poser would have been good given something to do and toned down a bit. They needed a back story explanation, as underneath all the bravado she was still that vunerable woman ( I would say plain and boring) that Cullen played. Kind of like Lucinda was a creating of Mary Alice Waters, THIS Amanda was how she could deal with the world and her family. She played wistful very well..and could sling a one liner...(would have loved to see her with Bev.) Alan: "Amanda, Josh just tried to kill me!" Amanda, checking for dust on the table, "Who hasnt???"

Who was Irizarry balling that he was in every promo, etc. Did JFP have the hots for him (I had forgotten his speech impediment which use to drive me crazy..or maybe its an accent.)

Speaking of JFP...I never saw her "in person," and at first I did indeed think it was Brent/Marion so that rumor that they modled "her," after JFP has to be true.

The Country Club set looks so small there and it looked huge on the show. Funny that MG was talking about sets..she didn't see Peapack coming..(though really, all you need is a living room, kitchen, offfice, place to eat and bedrooms to tell a good story on a soap.)

So interesting to hear that Michael Zaslow never faced any backlash for his Roger Thorpe character in public. I compare that with Eileen Fulton who played bad girl Lisa Miller (I think she was Hughes at that time) and described being decked by a fan of the show. I don't think that Lisa was ever as bad as Roger Thorpe who seemed like he was a nasty piece of work, yet the reactions the actors got from fans say so much.

Honestly, I'm thinking there had to be a double standard there.

Well, Beverlee McKinsey was quoted in the AW 35th Anniversary Book as saying that she never, ever got any fan backlash from playing Iris. She said that the fans would say things to her along the lines of, "well, if I was rich like Iris, I would probably do some of those things too". Ms. McKinsey did go on to say that she got awful, awful letters when she played Alexandra Spaulding at the height of that character's villainy. So, there's one example of a female playing the villainess and not getting any pushback.

    • And sadly I think that’s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol
    • But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call. Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.
    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
