Y&R: Potpourri Thread 2

Not a chance. And here's why...

1.) People are still confused about what DTV is and they assume they have to pay for it.

2.) Depends on which market you're in. I can barely get the big three.

3.) Again, in my market, that is not always the case. It's pathetic how syndicated programming on a Hearst Station in my area is still NOT being recorded and then broadcast in HD. That's pathetic.

4.) But you will still be ridiculed by your neighbors.

I refuse to pay for cable. And initially, I thought Digital Signals were a boon to the Over the Air viewer. But it really depends on where you live in a town and the strength of your antenna. Without that, Digital Television is useless.

I use my HDTV to watch TV online. The picture quality when I watch GH(maybe because they take some of the frames out) looks way better online than over the air. The show still LOOKS good when I am watching both ways, but when I watch GH online, there's alot more depth.

People are confused because the networks and local affiliates didn't spell it out in elementary school language (PBS did a pretty good job, though). And people need to realize that a set of rabbit ears won't do it anymore.. most of the time. Another huge problem is that places like Walmart sell these poorly made RCA converter boxes that can't pull in signal worth a DAMN. I had a friend who had one fo those, I went over to his house... he had 30 percent signal strength, and dropouts galore. I disconnected the RCA box and exchanged it with the Zenith box, and BOOM. 90 percent signal strength and rock solid reception 24/7. There's that much difference in covnerter box performance. Channelmaster, Zenith, and Insignia ( Insignia is same as Zenith, just re-branded as Best Buy's store brand) are the three brand that REALLY perform. Our family's other farm, which is 65 miles form the TV stations get reception solid 24/7. You should get more than the big three unless your'e in a TINY market... what market are you in? I'm officially in the Kansas City market, but live far enough away that in addition to Kansas City, I also get PBS and ABC from Columbia, MO. I guess in the burbs your neighbor might laugh at you... I just never think of such things, because out here in farm country, EVERYONE has a TV antenna. Until 10 years ago, a rooftop antenna out here was your only choice. You used the antenna, or you didn't watch TV.

You know they are making fan-bases angry all around. They are lacking in gay storytelling unlike their promise, they have shamefully neglected their rich black characters, people hate the misogyny, the lack of character development, the out of character choices, questionable and bad casting choices, the bad plot execution and resolutions. Is somebody this overconfident, uncaring, or plain blind?

You know, I never knew that existed! It does make part of my point, a short promo on the show for the online store would go along way to hawking that merchandise. I don't like the fact that it's mostly "Crimson lights" crap, and not Y&R. I see what DMAREX is saying about most of the show propping 5 or 6 characters. They've always done this character propping, just look at the blatant character propping of TEVN here:

Hopefully, Pratt's firing will have a domino effect and the Head Writers at Y&R will be fired and replaced too.

Make it happen, Sony and CBS!

Pratt's firing gives me hope that someone out there knows these shows suck and are trying to fix things. Whether it works over the long haul is to be seen though, but it's an optimistic start.

So many people thought Pratt would be writing AMC's finale, let's hope Maria Arena Bell, Hogan Sheffer, and Scott Hamner won't be writing Y&R's finale and we'll get a more competent writing team.

Pratt is a high profile writer that was touted as AMC's savior, and he was BFF's with the head of ABC Daytime. No one thought he would be fired, at least not this soon. AMC is actually up in the ratings, for the most part, too.

So, if surprises can happen there, they can surely happen at Y&R. What part of that sentiment did you not understand?

If there's someone out there that sees Y&R in in need of some creative revamping, there might be more hope left for the show than we thought. No one expected anyone see the disaster Pratt was at AMC, at least not this fast.

It's going to happen one day, sooner or later...

    • Thanks @soapfan770 . Sheri seems to have a much different take on Emma's husband than I remember the show having.
    • Lucky said he’s gonna travel this summer with Aidan. It was a quick line. Willow looks dumber by the day somehow.
    • Well, I do love a good soap himbo who can wear some pants...and very much blue jeans.

But yeah, I can see it. I saw it more with Hayley though.
    • Ewww....I love MKA, but GL wasted her returns. I do think she sleeps with Ross, or gets darn close.   So...against my better judgment, I slid into '86 to find Vanessa confessing to Henry about being pregnant...and it's NOT William Roerick, DAMN IT. It's some damn temp Henry. But then it gets weirder because I'm listening in German, and it's the same voice fooling me.
    • I hope the writers understand how pathetic and stupid Willow looks in order to continue this madness with Drew. Willow has become a laughingstock. Lucky didn't say goodbye to Aidan? Pathetic!!! Maybe then she can buy clothes that fit her. The blouse she had on today was three sizes too big.
    • I really enjoyed the first half of season 9. It was dark but Emma, Angela, Lance and Richard were front and center.  Pilar and Frank were finally interesting.  Charley, Michael and Genele came in and caused a lot of drama.  It was even sexier. I also liked the new into theme music. Then the second half of the season went to hell.
    • Something that I love about Dani is that despite her issues with Bill, she's always encouraged her daughters to have a relationship with him. I also believe that she does have a great amount of love for him which is why she is so hurt that he's sick. I've loved them including her in his recovery. It feels real and their chemistry is just insane so any chance for more of it is welcomed. That would be the perfect karma. Kat needs to learn boundaries and not be so impulsive, but I still feel like the Duprees are going to clear Leslie. How? I don't know, but that's what I think is going to happen. I feel like she'll get some kind of blackmail over them which will cause them to clear the slate. Of course the show never goes where you expect so I'm sure they'll do something different but I'm definitely curious how she will manage this.
    • Darn you Jane Elliot...you have me crying...that's how superb her acting is in these scenes with Gio. Speak on it.
    • The story has been glossed over and taken over by the lunacy redux. I wonder if they noticed how poorly the ratings are with the Liam story and went all lunacy.
