Exactly! Ever since Maria joined the show, what story has Melody gotten? It's like she's some random new [!@#$%^&*] who pops up here and there.

I would be pissed just like I am right now! Hate him or love him, Braden IS the star of Y&R.

Obviously she can't pen a decent story by herself. She'll probably make David KrazyFuck and Jill Lorie look like superstars.

I would have mixed feelings. As much as The mustache annoys me, he is a huge part of this show. Again, losing him would be the beginning of the end. Part of the problem is that no one is in place who can take Nikki's place. If HT had never left the role of Victoria, that might not be the case.

Why should MTS take a cut? She is worth 10 actors!

The whole Victor/Ashley/Adam story has really been missing Nikki. As good as it is, it would have been stellar if Nikki had been the mix. And imagine how much more powerful if Paul & Nikki had a real romance and P/N/V/A had been written a full & true quad. Also, where is Nikki in Nick's story? If anything MTS should have story every damn day. The phasing out of Nikki has really hurt the show.

As much as I've been enjoying the show over the last eight months, I have to agree. I can name at least ten actors right off the bat who could be let go without even a negotiation and nobody would care.

Honestly I'm on the bandwagon of Glo/Jeff/Tyra/Nu-Colleen(she's not being used nobody will be missing her) time has expired. I don't rally for anyone to lose their jobs but the impact would certainly be less than that of Nikki's absense. If she has tot ake a paycut fine but perhaps 70% is asking anyone a bit much

Wow - I just read that article now and I'm sorry, but I can see how it's wreaking havoc on the show. Paul and Nikki's wedding was supposed to happen in May - but now it's being put off. I even get the feeling that this is why we get the art caper every day instead of Nikki and Paul. This is also probably why Victor is giving his blessing to the wedding now instead of causing trouble.

You know who I feel for in this whole debacle? Doug! He gets a crack at his first major story in a long time and it gets derailed cause MTS doesn't want a paycut. Now it's gonna mess with the MJ plot and ya'll know I don't like that!

Bummer, bummer, bummer. i tell ya, the sloppy art story is all cause of MTS and the reverberations from MTS's contract mess. I was all for MTS but now it's severely affecting Y&R the show I watch. I hope MTS goes gracefully and signs a year contract renewal and renegotiates later.

I wish we could get some actual information on what sort of cut they're asking her to take. a paycut is not a slap in the face to me.

Thank you for that - I honestly feel like MAB would want MTS to stay on forever and make a million bucks an episode if she could afford to. I really do. Cutting out 10 characters for the sake of one just doesn't seem rational. and what happens when they want to cut PB, EB or JC's salary? Just have vets only? That's not realistic.

What the hell happened to the show? A few weeks ago, a lot of us were happy and optimistic about the show. Now the threads are mostly negative (and I know I'm partly responsible for this) and relatively short.

Why the heck did Y&R have to go to Paris last year? That surely would have covered MTS salary. Fans don't really care if we're in Europe. They could have easily done the photoshoot in LA and told the same story.

It was Paris that made Nick and Sharon fall back in love. The elevator at Restless Style just isn't as romantic a setting. Plus, Phyllis spying her husband in a lip lock with his ex is so much more dramatic in front of the Eiffel Tower than the lobby of Crimson Lights, LoL.

For me I stand with her depending on how much. I mean where-ever I work if I make a million in salary and they asked me to cut 70%, while I make nowhere near that now but if I have enough I would be fighting over principle of it as well. I'll take a cut but 70% is like wooah. I'm just saying if that's how they are doing it all or nothing I would have to stand up, now do I think she should walk over it I don't want her to. I just think for it to have come to this is poor management skills and I don't blame MAB because I don't think she negotiated her current contract

    • Understand your point.  But I usually see Reginald's mustache twirling villainy as ultra campy bordering on comedic (albeit unsuccessfully).  And upon Reginald's exit, most of the overt camp/comedy seemed to cease. And although I'm aware camp and comedy are not exactly the same thing, I tend to throw them together anyway -- especially when discussing soaps.  You are correct, Mary was not played for laughs.  When I used to term "let's play everything for laughs" I didn't mean literally everything or every character was comedic. But TPTB put so much effort into comedy, it did tend to eat the show for a few years (again not literally). I'm just expressing my perspective on the topic, and lots of folks probably disagree.  That's cool. People who like comedy on soaps tend to defend it, and folks who don't like comedy (or think it want too far) tend to criticize it.  Whichever side of the fence one is on, it sure didn't help the ratings on AW.
    • Nope, it was not just you, I had the same issues. Most either disagreed with me, or just ignored my comments. But, I most definitely would have liked for them to take another route, even to add sheer variety in the storytelling. It is what it is, the story is a hit with the fans...
    • You may be a casual watcher, but you got SO much right.
    • I've been eagerly awaiting Kate's first episode under the new writers, and I wasn't disappointed. I started reminiscing about all of Kate's misdeeds when she said how good of a liar she was and how she saw right through Roman's lying. I really buy this matured, but still wise Kate in 2025, and the fact that you know under the right circumstances, the more ruthless side is always there, under the surface. Hopefully, with Roman about to confess, we get the full truth about just what the hell happened with Johnny the night EJ was shot, then all the major suspects will be eliminated, just for the writers to throw in that wrench that's waiting for it's time to shine. Everytime Brady thaws even a little bit towards Kristen I immediately get concerned. I was entertained by their fight, and it was smart to mention Kirsten having no friends, let alone positive female relationships except for Lani in regards to why Rachel is such a loser. As a viewer, do you think Stacy Haiduk as Kristen was at all thinking about her former friendships with Jennifer and Billie in that moment? I wonder if she's even aware that they were, or who Billie even is. Anyway, I do wish Kristen could have also thrown in Brady's face that he's literally the biggest slut in Salem. Rachel seeing and possibly hearing about him going from woman to woman would also negatively affect Rachel's negative ideals about women, and possibly her own self-hatred. I thought Doug's favourite class being English lit was a good through line from how impressed he was with grandpa Doug's poetry book to Julie. Hearing he dropped out because no one at home cared just made me yearn for more information about Charles LeClair as a father and person. Maybe it was this time that Robert LeClair was dying so Charles was distracted and it all fell apart after that? Alex with Kristen today is the most interesting I've seen him written. He was smarmy and cold and for a quick second looked like he was enjoying playing with Kristen clearly throwing herself at him, but when she dropped her facade he became merciful, but still unwilling to budge. He would have fit in well in the more complex 70s era as a cad with a heart underneath his bravado. However, and I can't stress this enough, I absolutely despise whenever he calls Philip, 'Phil.' It just itches my brain in all the wrong ways.

    • This is what happens when you write for character over actor.
    • I assume Holly is Nicole's kid, right?  If so, the casting on the actress was spot on since she totally had some of Nicole's mannerisms/aura. Kristen is being shown as human again.. which we haven't seen from the character since Eileen's 1 year return back in the early 2010s. Kate is now running the Brady Pub?
