Members DRW50
I guess it depends on what type of earthy you mean. If you mean someone wearing Duck Commander (ugh) gear, sitting in their local Cracker Barrel, I don't think we'd see that. Someone like Clarice I could see fitting on a show like DAYS or maybe even GH.

Members NothinButAttitude
I think we were both thinking the same, blue collar, just two different types. When I think of earthy, I think middle-middle, lower-middle class. From examples you've given, it's more lower-class period.
Members Paul Raven
Like Clarice,Quinn was another character that lasted through several writing/producing regimes before getting the boot.
Members NothinButAttitude
She should've never been killed off. That left Zach in limbo till the time he left.
Members slick jones
Quinn and Maisie didn't need to be killed. Quinn's death just pissed me off. They could have kept her around, and Thomasina could have returned. I liked PP and Patricia Hodges...
Members Paul Raven
I would have had Maisie hook up with Vince and play Vince/Mary/Maisie with Vince and Maisie marry and stay around after Denise Alexander left. They could be tentpole for the McKinnon children who should have stayed around longer than they did.
Members NothinButAttitude
Did Denise chose to leave or was it TPTB decision?
Members slick jones
That was what I had always figured was the plan...Maisie/Vince/Ada was another way it could have gone before Mary showed up...

Members amybrickwallace
Quinn was great - but I may be biased because I am a huge fan of her wonderful portrayer, Petronia Paley.
Members Paul Raven
Quinn had so much story potential. In all the years she was on,she never was married,So a big romance/marriage story was waiting along with Thom's return after her marriage went kaput and you have two interesting women of color on the canvas with some history on the show.
Members soapfan770
The Sin Stalker was suppose to go after impure women but his choice of victims-Quinn, Maisie, Christopher Cousins' character, and Crystal Gayle don't really make too much sense in that regard. Except for Jake and Kathleen the rest of the McKinnon family failed. Edited May 12, 2015 by soapfan770
Members tune_in_tomorrow
I thought that Sin Stalker storyline was dumb altogether. As far as Quinn and Maisie as victims, it was just an easy way to get rid of two 40ish actresses whose characters had no familial ties to anyone on the show, and add a little shock value. Regarding the McKinnons, I was surprised that they never tried recasting Ben. As I recall, Ben and Jake overlapped only a very short time (if at all) and that's when the McKinnon family was being positioned as a prominent one. The "good v bad" dynamic of the two of them could have been played out, with both eventually showing shades of gray. Members amybrickwallace
About Denise Alexander, I read someplace that she was tired of the bicoastal life and wanted to be back in California full-time. TPTB probably didn't protest too much as her leaving freed up a lot of money.
