Y&R/ Maria Bell losing their way?

Who says I have to be happy with what's left? Who says anyone has to be happy? I don't have to be happy if I don't want to be; and I don't have to settle. I want the best from all these shows, and nothing but. Not even as they disappear, one by one, from TV screens forever.

Lucinda's at a church bombing, and she's holding hands, singing "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand." If that does not convince why Jessica Klein should never be allowed near another soap in a HW'ing capacity, nothing will.

Alot of generalizations in this thread. Everyone should speak for themselves many posts I've viewed underestimate the intelligence of other viewers. I personally take the show as it goes it is not perfect but overall I love the approach (mostly), I love the characters (mostly), and I love watching these artists in their classic performance . I am not afraid to take away my viewership from the show if the show gets "that bad". I watch no other soaps though so maybe it would be a bit "easier" for me. I'm a relatively new viewer but I must say I'm loving MAB and her team's work for the most part

I am glad you are enjoying it, most folks are...and that is good!

But alot of the Y&R viewers generalize the "non lovers" of Y&R:

"Oh, YOU just haven't watched the show LONG ENOUGH."

"Y&R is more geared towards LONG TERM viewers"

Its the same type of condescending garbage that a certain Y&R scriptwriter said..which I need to let go. lol!

Well, I watched and loved Y&R from 1986-2002. And can't stand it now.

I am gonna try to let go of this subject. But its cool that you like it, alot of people enjoy it as well as the soap press.

I thought the church bombing was after Klein left. Wasn't she there for the earlier part of the racism story?

I was never that put out by Lucinda singing, it was just a silly, preachy story, but it was better treatment than she got from FMB and Lorraine Broderick, when Lucinda fell in love with James, became his dupe, and was written out as a mute paraplegic stroke victim after they drove Liz Hubbard from the show.

Klein was a very mixed bag. She put Jack and Carly together, who were a sizzling couple back then. Some of her other stories, like Damian returning as a priest, were not good.

She also wrote for ATWT in 1984, I think she wrote the story where Marisa Tomei won a beauty contest.

Funnily enough I actually think I'd enjoy Y&R more right now if I wasn't a long term viewer. I remember when Nikki was not just Victor's punching bag. I remember when Jill was not only there to shriek at Kay and Victor.

Sure the last couple of weeks have been slow and I haven't liked a few things, but I'm not worried. Y&R just got back to being good again this past fall, so I will give the show a pass if it's not up to par for a few weeks (unlike say YEARS ala GH, ATWT). Anyway, I think May and June will be very good. ;)
