The Nola that we saw during her second run on the show was a travesty. With Bridget, I agree it was disheartening to see her pine away for Hart, but it kind of fit her character. As she began to evolve as a character and establish a friendship with David I started to like her more.

I actually agree with you there. Of course I appreciate that we got such a gem like LK after Sherry left. Gawd knows the role of Mindy didn't have much luck after Kimberly Simms' departure.

I know, but her writing was so good at times though. I do hate the fact though that at the expense of some of the good Pam had written on the show; we got the Bauers written off. It kind of makes one really appreciate the TPTB for reigning in the show a bit and focusing more on the Bauers in the early 90s.

Wow, I've never heard the word "camp" used to describe Doug's writing. It makes me quite curious as to some of the other examples. You're spot on about your GL and ATWT comparison. I thought I was the only one to notice that stark difference between ATWT and GL from the late 60s to early 70s from reading many synopsis of that time.

Looking at some of the videos you posted, it seems as if Doug penned the kind of camp that didn't insult the viewer's intelligence or dumb down the character for that matter. Call it sophisticated camp or whatever you may choose, I do wish the writers of soaps today could take note.

Charita Bauer made 1 final appearance in December of 1984 where she made a phone call (I forget to whom) explaining her absence from Springfield. Charita was pretty ill by then and had her oxygen nearby on the set.

I think that's a good way to describe it. I find Doug's GL much more campy than his ATWT, aside from the few examples I mentioned, there's also Nola, and the disco. But this all fit into GL's identity, as his later writing fit into ATWT's identity (his camp there was more subdued, usually confined to someone like Shannon, or Julie, or Lucinda).

I wish we could see some of GL from the late 60s early 70s. Some of the stories, like Sara McIntyire being gaslighted by her husband and the maid he hired, and Sara accidentally shooting and killing the maid, sound crazy. Imagining calm, rational Sara in the middle of stories like this or Kit...wow. And I'd love to see the stuff where Kit kills Tracy.

Just watched this clip and had to share it...It was so powerful.

From October 1, 1992: Roger has finally found out about Ross and Blake's affair and confronts them about it, thinking that Ross is using Blake as revenge against him. What he finds out instead hurts him even deeper. Meanwhile, Holly, having followed Roger to Blake's, listens quietly outside the house.

An episode that originally aired on April 8, 1993. Michelle had run away from home, what Ed didn't know was she hiding at Billy and Vanessa's house. Some nice scenes between Holly and Ed, Vanessa, Michelle, and Bill. I love in the beginning of the episode how Ed calls Holly out on making everything about her.

I love how months after her death, Maureen's death still had an impact on all those whose lives she touched. Not just Ed and Michelle, but I loved the scene in this episode were Vanessa tears up and tells Michelle that her mother would be so happy that nothing bad happened to her and how she feels Maureen's presense with her. If anything like this happened in daytime now, the aftermath of the death would be forgotten in a month.

Also in this episode, Harley's trying to find more information as to where Buzz could be, Nick spies on Mindy and HB as they fish, and crazy Eve.

The end credits for this episode. I didn't know Addie Walsh briefly wrote for Curlee/Demorest.

Maureen's death did provide some classic material for Ed, Michelle, and Holly, although in the long run Ed was weakened. Holly was such a well-rounded character when Nancy Curlee was headwriter.

This was Barbara Crampton Mindy? I could see why Eve hated her, and hated Ann Hamilton Mindy. I loved Eve, crazy or sane. She had an ethereal presence many GL women did not.

I really hated Stacy Winthrop when I watched the Soapnet run of AW, but I loved Eve way back when and I was happy when I watched some of the Youtube stuff again that my feelings were still there.

I loved Kimberly Simms. She was the Mindy I saw when I started watching, and she played up her big stories, the toxic affair with Roger, the Daddy's girl role with Billy, like nobody's business. My heart broke for her when Billy disowned her and when Alex went off on her. I wasn't as interested in her relationship with Nick, as I think that relationship was a black hole which also hobbled any future Mindy, but VI and KS did have chemistry (on and offscreen, apparently).

I was thrilled when she returned in 1997 for HB's memorial, and I thought she had chemistry with everyone right off the bat. I really liked the little scene with Billy where she encouraged him to start living life again. Isn't it interesting that the one thing every regime tends to get right is keeping Billy around and writing for his strengths? I wish they did more with him, but I know if this had been GH or AMC, he'd be long dead, or long vanished.

I don't know if Krista was unavailable at the time of HB's memorial or if they just didn't ask her back. When Krista did come back, I was pleased, because I think she suits Mindy much better than she suited Tina and she has great chemistry with her co-stars. But I think Kimberly will always be my #1 Mindy, just because she has that sensuality which no other actress brought to the role.

You know now that you mention it, I don't think Beth even knows of the existence of Lujack's twin, Nick McHenry. It would have been an awesome story if they had brought back Nick and played out all the beats with him being his look alike and all, sure beats seeing Reva and Cassie tackle the fact that Jeffrey looks like Richard.

Of course, even though I love Beth Chamberlain, and I think she's been completely wasted this second time around on GL, Judi and Vincent had amazing chemistry back then and I would love to see them together and on screen again.

haha you did good explaining all that. So basically Monday's episode is gonna be what was suppose to be Friday's episode. Even though CBS and PPlus uploaded Monday's Aka Friday's show before they deleted it? LOL
    • I do mean those two, but when I download them, the Chris from Greece version is from RTL with subtitles and starts with a doctor greeting Stephanie and the rsclassicfanfanforever version is from Videoland, no subtitles and starts with Tawny and Becky? Sorry if this was already discussed. Is the Chris version merged with another episode? That one is longer.
    • B&B episode Episode #9521 (Season 38, Episode 162) was scheduled for Thurs. May 8. It was officially preempted, although some areas saw it, (Some areas saw the Steffy/Finn/Monaco rerun on May 8.) cbs.com and PPlus had 9521 (S38,E162) uploaded on May 8, despite it being preempted from that date, and they never took it down. B&B officially aired #9521 (S38, E162) on broadcast CBS television on Fri. May 9. B&B officially postponed the next episode #9522 (Season 38, Episode 163) to air on Mon. May 12. cbs.com and PPlus had #9522 (S38, E163) uploaded Fri. May 9, despite it not airing yet on broadcast tv until Mon. May 12. cbs.com and PPlus still had the early upload of 9522/S38,E163 available on their websites for about a day and a half, LOL,... (even though it doesn't air until May 12)... and then they finally removed it from their websites.   ALSO... at the same time as removing 9522/S38,E163 . . . .  cbs.com and PPlus fixed the website label for #9521 (S38, E162), which had displayed as "May 8" but now correctly says "May 9". --------------------------- Meanwhile, B&B in Canada "ctv.ca" Canada uploaded #9521 (S38, E162) on Thurs. May 8, because they didn't realize at first that it was preempted in USA. Eventually ctv.ca Canada deleted the early upload of S38,E162. But then... "ctv.ca" Canada didn't re-upload #9521 (S38, 162), even after it aired in the USA officially on May 9. And apparently they were afraid to upload anything new, so for a couple of days, the most recent episode available  on ctv.ca was Wed. May 7,  #9520 (S38, E161). Finally  "ctv.ca" Canada uploaded *BOTH* of these: #9521 (S38, 162) (USA official airdate Fri. May 9)... And #9522 (S38, 163) (USA official airdate Mon. May 12)... listing it as as Monday May 12 and it's still on their website. --------------------------- Meanwhile, B&B in Australia: "10play.com.au" fast-track Australia seemed to know what to do. They waited until 9521 aired in USA officially before uploading to their site. They haven't uploaded 9522 yet. (I don't have access to view Australia episodes, but I can see their menu. I kept checking their website multiple times over the past few days, and I saw the thumbnails and episode descriptions.)  ------------------- That was extremely confusing for me to type up. I probably made some errors. LOL.
    • The one that Christos did would be the RTL Lounge recording (without end credits and subtitles) and the one @rsclassicfanforever did would be the Videoland version with end credits and no subtitles). Is that what you mean by two versions? @BoldRestless
    • The dialogue is so clunky and doesn't  flow naturally. It's like it is written without thought of how it actually sounds when delivered by the actors.
    • Phyllis saying it sexy

    • This is so confusing. So will CBS and P.Plus just be a day ahead for the rest of the episodes the whole week?
    • April 15, 1993 is when they first meet.
    • Does anyone know the air date when Victoria & Cole first meet? Was there a scene when Victoria was sitting on Cole's lap and kissed him? If so, does anyone know the air date?
