OLTL: Discussion for the week March 30

I think Rex lost most of his smarts when he found his true love Bo. Rex was on a roll when he was poised to be the next Brad Vernon/Max Holden type charming scoundrel. Now he is just another bland and boring do gooder and having JPL prance around in his underwear once a month doesn't solve the inherent character flaw.

Bo/Rex have a limited appeal for me (lots of telling us about how close they are, in almost all their scenes, like even OLTL can't believe these two men would ever spend time together), but without that relationship I'm not sure Rex would have lasted on the show during the time right after Jen died. Sometimes I'm still not sure exactly how Rex became a younger leading man, it doesn't suit JPL and doesn't benefit the show. I guess this is the price they pay for completely squandering the role of Joey Buchanan over the past decade.

I hear ya....I'm in the same boat as you, both with Obama and no SOAPnet.

Somebody help me out here.....isn't it the policy of ABC that if more than half of an episode is pre-empted, then it is is generally re-broadcast at the show's next regularly scheduled time? (In this case, tomorrow afternoon).

Or am I just crazy? I thought I had heard that somewhere before, but I can't recall where or when. Maybe I'm just losing my mind. :P

Fish is fishy. Definitely a red herring in this serial killer storyline

I like Marty and Jessica scenes.

I also like how Brody is the voice of the audience as far as Stacey is concerned. And is there any female that this stud doesn't have chemistry with? Me want to go there. :)

At least they stuck glycerine in Gigi's eyes today. I can only feel that Farah has had a really smooth and easy life thus far, as she appears to have no way of harnessing any real sadness or tears. It is a shame, because she has a certain something.

Who wrote today, the scriptwriting is decent.

I have a bone to pick with you guys. How come nobody mentioned that Jackie McNaughton is HOT?!!!! I'm ffing through yesterday's show, and I had to come to a screeching halt. Grey hair may not be everybody's cup of tea, but dayum! He looked good! Tats and everything.

Hey now....Al Gore and I are 5th cousins.

Seriously....I am not making that up. Our 3rd great grandfathers were brothers.

But, it's true about ABC.....they will interrupt programming for anything. Obama could just walk by one of their reporters and say hello and ABC would call it breaking news and talk about for two or three hours straight.

I just have to come in here to say...SO TRUE! I watch OLTL on SoapNet most of the time now because ABC(and even its local affiliates, no other local affiliates do this either) pop in for EVERYTHING. If its cloudy outside, I can't tune into ABC because I know more than likely they'll be going on about it....its so annoying. :P

    • I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
    • Yup.  You can hate John all you want, but like seriously he was the cornerstone of the show for years.  So he should get a long ass funeral and burial and all the things because Drake and John deserve that.

      look who’s at a party I’m at
    • Yes. We should absolutely move on from John/Drake's 40 year legacy on the show to see what Leo is going to do tomorrow.  Lol.  This can't be a serious post.

I came in with a dream and left with a purpose. From lecture halls to rehearsals, community work to creative sets, every moment shaped me. I’m so proud of the stories I’ve told here — and the ones still unfolding. Grateful to everyone who poured into me, supported me, challenged me, and believed in me. Fours up and peace out! #UCLA #ClassOf2025 #BlackBruinExcellence #YearbookVideo @jordanward
    • The actor who plays Martin has been teasing that nobody has guessed Martin's secret. I love that for things like that and the June story we have no idea. I feel like if we didn't have the day ahead feeds Anita's reveal would've been shocking as well. I love that they aren't going the obvious route with these stories.
    • I tried following the news in Los Angeles at https://laist.com (independent public radio and news) They had up-to-the minute accurate info during the wildfires in January. There's no video, no impact to my mind as to what's happening. Trying other outlets, to get the truth, but it's hard.
    • That's a bit murky since that happened during a writers' strike. Assuming Kristen Marie had a 2-year contract she left about when her contract would have expired and Sharlene and Josie showed up right before that. Lemay was officially credited as HW from September 1988 but it seems very probable that his anticipated tenure influenced events that happened during the strike which started in April.
    • I've seen so many posters over the years who are bright, creative, well-versed in soap history, and who care deeply about the integrity of the genre. I'd put the shows' chances in their hands a lot faster than I would allow any of the "usual suspects" to take control of the dramas they've already helped decimate. When I returned to university in the 1980s, I created a bible for a new soap and presented it in my screenwriting class. It was in reaction to how badly I saw the network shows being butchered at the time. The creative process was thrilling; a total joy, and I still smile when I remember the positive feedback I received from the professor and my fellow students. I was used to seeing written commentary from professors on my work. This one wrote me a long, complimentary note on the final page of the bible, but also graded it 97%, A+. I was beaming ear to ear for days!
