DAYS: Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans fired!

I don't think Steve and Kayla can be tagged with not bringing up ratings. Sami and EJ, Bo and Hope, Philip and Stephanie...none of them bring up ratings, so maybe everybody should be fired?

I feel really bad about what is happening with DOOL. First it was Jack and Jennifer, then it was Belle and Shawn, then John and Marlena and now Steve and Kayla. Plus we also lost Tony, Shawn Sr, Judi Evans in whatever role you care for, and many others the last few years (including my favorite psycho, Jan Spears)...it's just not Days anymore.

I am just shocked Lexie has made the cut considering she is usually one of the first to go.

To be honest, I don't really care about these firings, although why they couldn't have just placed them on recurring is beyond me...how are we meant to even remotely care for Stephanie when she'll never be in scenes with her parents again? Who exactly will still be around who is over 40? Sure, they could revisit Kate and Victor and position them within not only their own story, but that of Philip and Stephanie; I like that Maggie is getting back into the mix, and are they still using Kevin Dobson as Mickey? Then there's Caroline and I think that's pretty much it, isnt it? I dont see John Callahan's character lasting for too long...

I honestly dont think this is Higley's decison; she had a major hardon for the Paige character on OLTL, brought back Clint, used Dorian...

Maggie, Caroline, Victor, Stefano

Bo, Hope, Kate, Abe, Lexie

Sami, Lucas, Nicole, EJ

Philip, Chloe

Stepahnie, Max, Chelsea

Melanie, Mia, nuWill (i assume hes coming..)

thate the age groups now, i believe. they dont really use kevon dobson - further proof ithey should have just killed micky in his sleep and give that story arc to maggie.

altho then she would prob be after daniels magic peen. lol.

I'd say no character is safe at this point, who's to say Maggie won't be next, or Victor, or Caroline?

i never said any of them would be safe.but i do think the fact that it seems Maggie has been used more in a month than in a decade says a lot. and not only is she being used, shes in an actuall storyline. she is doing more than smiling and handing out a menu.

tho if anyones cut next it needs to be Roman, IMHO.

and after him? Daniel and Chloe.

Corday should just close this show and do a spin off with the teens. It looks like this will be an all teen soap.

with two teens on the show i dont get this. at all.

if anything the show is focused on the 20-30's set.

About damn time! These two have been a flop from day 1 and they both were paid outrageous salaries...I was shocked that Deidre Hall was fired before either of them were.

The show is really reinventing itself. Teens and their parents and few 20somethings with Maggie Horton thrown in as the wise older woman and *no* extraneous characters.

word.

i personally like this. i like the smaller tighter cast. the intermingling of these 20-35 year olds who bed hope and couple swap and have all these secrets and lies. i think the teenagers, all two of them, have been used well so far. Melanie, love her or hate her, drives stories and causes trouble. Mia has barley been used but since Sami has her baby but Mia thinks Nicole does, plus the fact that the actress is good gives me hope for something to come. I really hope they recast will and pair them up.

then there is this huge nicole/ej/sami/lucas/chloe/daniel plot thats fantastic and full of secrets lies deception and a hot steamy affair. and all the actors just click together. by throwing maggie into the affair storyline adds something to it as well IMHO. and i like stefano in his supporting role.

i am loving this chelsea/max duo as well. and i have not put hobo on FF in weeks now, and i DESPISE that bitch Hope with everything in me, because as redic as bo with visions is i like the conflict its provided. and i cant forget the awesomeness of philip/stepahnie and little melanie trying her hardest to distory that! i do wish abe & lexie were used more, thats my biggest complaint. and id love to see victor & caroline couple up now.

the show is far from perfection, but IMHO its been far worse than it is now. (esp 2003-2008) ... but the thing i dont watch Days of our Lives for a mind blowing shocking riveting hour of TV everyday. i watch it to entertain me, and it does.

And there goes DAYS... it's definitely dead now. There's only one supercouple left. Why they kept Abe and Lexie over Steve and Kayla is beyond me. And as much as I love Maggie, hardly anyone outside the soap world knows who she is.

what the hell is going on...they are gone but Josh Taylor stays...get rid of him. just cause he's best friends with Ken. says nothhing for his acting.

Josh Taylor is not expensive at all. The fact is they have to cut corners. This is not Higley or Tomlin's decision, this is Corday's decision being told by NBC what to do. They need to free money up right now as the ratings actually have not been as bad but it is an easy decision firing MBE/SN. They never worked this time around with all the head writer changes. They have been heavily backburnered, they are not needed on the canvas right now. Actually you are going to laugh but ALISON SWEENEY HAS BECOME THE SHOW'S HIGHEST PAID LOL. NBC loves her and the Biggest Loser is doing very very well ratings wise. Maybe they were not willing to take any paycuts but the characters never worked. Sometimes returns work and sometimes they do not. Look at Florencia Lozano on OLTL, proof positive a return can work.

Yeah Johnnysbro, and if they are ever in a pinch she can WRITE THE SHOW AS WELL!

You get a popular daytime performer, you get a primetime performer, AND you get a headwriter all in one blonde and blue eyed package! Its a networks dream!

Let us not forget, Days is comfortably sitting near the top of the ratings with solid demos.

Right now the show's numbers are better under Higley/Whitesell/Tomlin then they were when Ed Scott/Hogan were there. They are trying to do anything to make a profit that includes a much smaller cast with cheaper actors.

Surprise, surprise. Not.

Who the heck even watches that show anymore? :(

the show constantly seems to be #3 in ratings so it looks like all these drastic changes arent having a buge negative impact
