Kate's win in that category complicates things for the Oscars. Since she isn't in that category for the Oscars someone else will win there.

Sean Penn comes out to the SAG's and the Oscars but he doesn't seem to do the Globes...Which is the press and isn't suprising he doesn't come out for that. And not surprised he won here and not at the Globes. The Globes are about who sucks up to the press more.
