Yeah, I was talking to a few friends about this and we all agreed that even though the we were impressed with the pictures and the parts of the livestream that we did see, that 53% really bothers us because it represents a rift that has been there for a very long time, that began with the Women's Suffrage movement and has persisted. It's the reason why historically many Black women have been slow to embrace the word feminist, many used to choose womanist instead. There is essentially a lack of trust that White women will be there to back Black women when the circumstances are critical. Black women feel very let down by the election results. I admit, I felt very letdown and I still feel pangs of anger about it every now and then, especially when I read some foolishness that comes out of Trump's mouth. I know some immigrant women who are first time voters, who say they will not vote again and doubt the integrity of the "system". I tried to explain how the electoral college works, but even I struggle to explain its relevance in contemporary times. Many times, I just feel drained...still.

I do applaud those women who marched today and I was encouraged to see the images and clips of the various speakers who appeared in DC and the marchers from around the world.

I suspect today's success is what sparked that ridiculous news conference (which I did not see) as Trump's looking for yet another diversion tactic.

Hopefully soon, people will stop falling for these antics.

I stayed well clear of it, and was hoping those I know who hate him would do the same. Instead, they... watched it? I guess the curiosity was too strong.

I do think he'll spin this as some sort of huge victory, just like anything else, but he'll know.

I'm guessing most of those people who tuned in yesterday were the "hidden Trump voter", the ones who were too shame-faced to show themselves in public but probably had 'watch parties' at home.

I didn't even want to watch the livestream and I feel like my time was well-spent avoiding the entire sh*tshow.

I guess I had that one coming.

Generally speaking, I do NOT enjoy seeing people get sucker punched.  But I WOULD be lying if I said my heart didn't leap when I saw it happen to him, for obvious reasons.  It was petty of me to have that reaction, and I make no excuses for it, but that's the truth.

As for the "war is hell" comment: that, I'm afraid, was another of my pitiful attempts at humor.  If you or anyone else was offended by the remark, I offer my apologies.

I'm not surprised FOB's inauguration yielded high ratings.  I'm upset that it did, but I'm not surprised.

Like I said on FB, I love seeing the photos of all the marches...but what do you intend to do next weekend?  Better yet, what are you gonna do tomorrow?  Because you're in this for the long haul, people.  We all are.

Yeah - it's easy to forget now that he's been out of the spotlight for so long how petty much of his first term in particular was.

But I think on some level he was a decent human being - the problem is when you surround yourself with people like Karl Rove, that doesn't matter.

I caught some of Spicer yelling at the "press conference", it was honestly disturbing.  It's only Day 2 and THIS is the benchmark that this administration wants to set?  Not to mention, Trump going to CIA headquarters and...blaming the media for what HE SAID.

I agree that Rove was probably more responsible for the hate speech than GWB was, but he still took the torch and ran with it.

I'd like to think the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and I actually like his dad.  The less said about Jeb the better.
