That’s a lengthy summary @janea4old! I hope it wasn’t too much trouble to do and I appreciate the effort you put into all your posts, but I did get a chance to watch some rounds during the week so I am fairly familiar with the process of the clerk (Cheryl Johnson especially needs an all expenses paid vacation at this point!) polling the votes of each Representative-elect. I was just just wondering what time on Friday this melee took place but after posting, I quickly found out. Fridays are now very busy for me and I got home fairly late and was too exhausted to watch all the shenanigans.

The U.S. won’t pay its own reparations so it will be interesting to see how they respond to Poland’s request.

I'm seeing rapports that Bolsonaro-followers are storming the National Congress in Brazil's capital!

Apparently also the supreme federal court...

Between this and Trump's hardline supporters now controlling the House, it's a reminder of just how much influence he still wields.

As others said, storming after Lula was already inaugurated is an odd choice.

There don't seem to be detailed articles yet, mostly just summaries.  It seems the news is still new and being updated by twitter from people at the scene.

Edit, oh I see that @I Am A Swede has updated their post with more tweets. Thank you!

This piece is newsworthy, I think, because it gets very candid about Maggie Haberman despite getting an interview with her. It rides the line and listens to her side but in the end, I think, has a very brutal analysis of her view from nowhere.

Archived non-paywall version here.
