This is confusing.  Is this delaying the inevitable?

^ Maybe, but I'll take the delay and investigation. That gives the chance for pressure to mount and other victims to come forward if they exist.

How does Flake know they will actually have an investigation?

Some of these guys are looking for cover.

 

Also, "I'm undecided but you'll force me to vote 'no' if you don't give the FBI a week to investigate" is likely to be a very comfortable position for the other wavering senators too.

What happened?:

- Jeff Flake voted to move the vote to floor
- However, proposing a delay of no more than one week for FBI investigation
- Neither he nor Committee can TECHNICALLY compel such a move
- BUT sounds like if McConnell doesn't agree, Flake is a NO#KavanaughVote

I know it's fanfiction but I choosing to believe that Mueller's office has dirt on Kavanaugh and just leaked some of it to Flake. 

 

For all the discussion about sexual assault, I've felt all through this that looking into whoever paid off his debt was the key to taking him down.

I can't believe a good investigative reporter(s) have not been looking into this or maybe I can considering how in bed the Beltway press is with our government
