Members JaneAusten
The thing that is particularly joyful about this is that Rubio himself actually helped with this campaign. He was rebuffed directly That's probably true. Until I read The Intercept article, I didn't real she was one of 2 Bush appointees who were directly responsible for the Hurricane Katrina debacle. The "best" people keep rising. Edited June 20, 2018 by JaneAusten

Members JaneAusten
He's delusional enough to react that way. I first thought he would not care. I now think he cares immensely. I hope he is kicked out like I hope Paul Ryan is kicked out of the catholic church.

Members amybrickwallace
This morning, I turned on the radio to my favorite news/talk/sports station. During their top of the hour news report, they mentioned Laura Ingraham likening these child internment camps to "summer camp". I literally screeched, "WHAT????" Talk about clueless. I can only wonder what would be happening now with this whole mess had Melania and Ivanka not applied pressure. He should have just stuck to The Apprentice if he wanted to play God.
Members marceline
The same thing would've happened. This Twitter account has done some excellent work in educating me how Narcissistic Personality Disorder works. I go bck to his "mind of Trump" threads often. He has been nailing it from day one even down to the timing.

Members DRW50
The media is, right on cue, already spinning this as a trap for Democrats (get ready for those "Democrats in disarray" headlines). https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/20/trump-family-separation-democrats-659965 And it looks like nothing will even change that much: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/20/family-separations-trump-executive-order-641356 Rudy meddles in a Louisiana Congressional primary for his new girlfriend: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/20/rudy-giuliani-love-life-white-house-657981 And finally, the next time somebody tells you that the Republicans really are sick of Trump and will sit at home in November to teach him a lesson, show them this: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/20/poll-voter-enthusiasm-trump-655682
Members DRW50
It's been odd to see the focus given to Steve Schmidt leaving the GOP, when he has had no real power in the party for a decade or more, and mostly appears on cable news, saying what people want to hear for cash. This happens again and again (Michael Steele, Ana Navarro). I hope someday the media will stop with their fantasy of how important it's supposed to be when a consultant who sees their paychecks drying up or knows the party has no more use for them jumps ship.
Members Wendy
Do I think there will be a blue wave? No, not especially. Call me cynical. With that said, the above about enthusiasm for Trump is a mere poll. And we should know the validity of polls can be easily questioned. Does 2016 ring a bell? It all depends on the sampling size/general location. This is not to say I don't think the rubes that adore Der Orange have abated or will. I'm just unsure they're as large a group as they like to project. Midterms will basically depend on how well Dems can hammer home the issues of, mainly, the economy and health care, since the GOP still seems determined to wreck it for the average Joe and Jane. Because that affects absolutely everyone. The heartland loves Trump and its Republicans but, frustratingly for those same demons, they also like the ACA (even as they hate Obamacare...it's all in the name). Take that away, and I think even the stupidest idiot left holding the bag will have to wonder what they did. Let's also remember that, while the economy is rolling along, the tariffs and trade war can easily turn it on its head. There are still a few months 'til November to find out. The Republicans can very well still prevail. I'm not naive. But I'm also not ready to become fatalistic about the Dems chances just yet.
