Sometimes I wonder whether we are more divided now than we were at the start of the Civil War.  I really do.

 

Meanwhile, does anyone else suspect Trump will dismiss the Apollo 11 landing as a hoax?  The 50th anniversary is in a few days, and I just have that feeling that, at the very least, he's bound to make some disparaging remarks about the astronauts, the landing, NASA.  He can't let one day pass without saying something that'll piss off half the country.

If there was ever a succession, the government would likely lay waste to any blue states and take them over. I also have my doubts as to how "blue" many blue states are. A number of them, like Oregon, are full of militias and arch conservatives.

Right. Just look at NY.  Of course, NYC is blue but a lot of the state is rural and red.

I agree.  But I don't think the divisions that continue to eat away at us will subside peacefully either.

It did exactly what Zucker wanted. Zucker is a Trump fan. He bragged about the money Trump was making him. CNN has profited beyond measure from a Trump Presidency. They cannot be trusted.

This is why I have tuned out of all of cable news. Well at least the top 3 minus when I am interested in an interview they are conducting. It's all the same stuff. And I think someone posted that article her on CNN losing audience share(to MSNBC) yet somehow their anchors and hosts are untouchable. Nice for all the people behind the scenes and Zucker who is a cretin.

It's funny how Trump has supposedly made an enemy out of CNN; yet, if you ask me, I think Trump has been helped enormously by the network -- more so than even Fox News, on some levels.

I want to commend President Trump and Fox News for achieving the impossible. Together, they have convinced my mother, an African-American who once marched with Clara Luper, that his tweets from last weekend were not the least bit racist. Bravo, gentlemen, and well played.

There is no illusion with Fox. In some ways they are more honest. CNN is worse.  

 

AS for your mom I am sorry. I am guessing she is older. So deprogramming is unlikely unless you cut the cable to the TV.

I'm not a very religious person, but any faith I do have means I have to hope that Ilhan Omar will be safe after Trump decided to ramp up the efforts to make her a national hate figure. He has endangered her life and the lives of all those close to her. 

 

This is our President. And we can't even be surprised, which is the worst part of all. This is just what America now is. And, deep down, has been all along.
