Ironically, Kavanaugh worked on the infamous Kenneth Starr's team.  The very same team that worked to bring down Bill Clinton with the Monica Lewinsky/Paula Jones controversy.  So, like Ratt once said, "what goes around, comes around."

I certainly don't have as much as I did before 2016.  That election showed me that there are far more awful people in this country than I ever imagined. Not that I think I'm some saint, but damn.  I never thought I'd see the day Nazi's marched in our streets and POTUS would shrug it off and millions of people would stick with him.

I think there is some hope that democrats are more energized and that more will vote in 2020. Also, maybe some hope that fewer Republicans will vote.  I won't be counting my chickens before I see 45 escorted out of the white house.

So, Kavanaugh was allegedly part of a date-rape ring?  God.  What a shitheel.

Thus far, he's been described in all the anecdotes as pitifully drunk (and thus probably unable to become aroused).  But, what if, on at least one occasion, he wasn't drunk and/or he was able to penetrate one of his victims anyway?

That's what keeps running through my mind about this case.  (That, and "Kavanaugh secret child" for some reason.)  At some point, I feel that some woman -- maybe it's Avenatti's client, maybe it's someone else -- is going to come forward and say, "No, Brett Kavanaugh did more than try to force my clothes off or make me touch his genitals with my face, he literally held me down, tore off my clothes and came inside me!"

(Sorry to be so graphic, by the way.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't someone here (marceline?) point out that even if Trump were to pardon Manafort and Cohen, they would still face charges from NY state, which he couldn't pardon them from?  Furthermore, isn't it true that NY would be allowed to use Manafort and Cohen's arranged testimonies as evidence of their guilt?

--But while we wait to see what next chaotic event will unfold in the U.S. government today, let's not forget that Putin-backed candidates suffered massive losses in local elections in Russia. These losses presumably stem from a Putin proposal to raise the age of eligibility for pension benefits (maybe people are sick of Putin's United Russia party?)

LibDems crush ruling party rivals in Russian Far East & central regions’ governor elections

Do I ever hope for a similar fate for the party of U.S.' Putin-wannabe in the midterm elections here.

It was probably more than one person on this board, tbh.  I certainly mentioned this at least once.  Yes, a pardon would do nothing to diminish the charges against him from the Southern district of New York, which is likely an outstanding factor in why he decided to cooperate with Mueller's people.  Remember, Manafort was in the process of facing 2nd trial when he cut the plea.

    • In the 2nd semi-final, I enjoyed Denmark and Luxembourg (plus France) the most. I was also positively surprised by Germany's performance, because usually our performances are ... well, lackluster, to put it nicely. The one country I did not expect to qualify was Armenia, but yeah, the staging probably helped a lot, because the song itself is just noise in my ears. I thought Serbia would make it instead. None of the Ex-Yugo countries made it to the Grand Final (first time since 2013), while all the Nordics and Baltics qualified. Recap of the 2nd semi-final:

    • I don't think they were prepared for Sherry Mathis to exit. I think the scripts were written well in advance and they didn't expect her to go. Louanne was on the very next episode and a terrible recast.  Erwin Nicholson made the same mistake in casting with Nicole on Edge but they gave the character some weeks or months rest before they brought in Jayne Bentzen, I believe.  As I stated above, in rewatching these posted episodes, I am making a guess that Mayer/Braxton wrote many weeks in advance because of the Spring 85 writers' strike.  While the strike lasted only two weeks, SFT is the only P&G soap that had writer credits through the two weeks of air shows that included the strike weeks. I also am guessing that Mayer was signed to a six month minimum (soaps typically have actors and writers on 13 week contracts) and Mayer was fired exactly at 26 weeks from the day his material first started airing.  He was a disaster for the show and Erwin was tired and not what the show needed although scoring Lambie as Lloyd was his top achievement (he lasted a little less than 1 year).

    • I think Steve and Shawn track down Kevin and Jeffrey gives them one dose on the sly in exchange for keeping it quiet. John's organs will go to Bo. We know he's not really coming home. Xander won't make the board meeting so EJ will get the hospital by default. And Kate will tell Xander that Sarah lied to him precisely because she feared he would do something like this to Philip  Those are my Friday predictions! Was a good show. I felt Philip's fear in that last scene.

I guess Susan was necessary today, but I really wish she’d leave. Marlena putting EJ on blast about Belle was pretty good though, and I hope they continue to use Marlena in their storyline. I’m interested in seeing what happens to EJelle in the aftermath of the John storyline. And I really wish we were seeing Paul and Andrew moving in on John’s location. If they can’t get Christopher Sean on the show, they should at least try to get Colton Little.  I liked how smart Xander was today and that he immediately that Philip stole the drug. He did a pretty good job in his scenes where he confronted Philip as well. I also appreciate the way that Philip’s been written lately; more like a tragic hero than a bratty, goofy clown. Which is all the more reason that I hope the triangle with Stephanie and Alex is revived. But Xander did seem a little overly melodramatic in his last scene though And, I can’t help but think that Dr. Russell being so hesitant about involving the police in the drug theft could be a sign of something.
