"Use it abuse it or lose it." Ugh - that's why I hate so much of the Beltway media. Even now it's a game to them.

What this mindset says is that if Trump can ever not throw [!@#$%^&*] against a fan every few minutes he will be Presidential.

I saw that Gingrich and Ari Fleischer were praising Trump, and Fleischer added that there are no "fine" Nazis or white supremacists. What country are we in that we now need someone to remind us that all Nazis are bad...?

I don't think that was Todd's take, and it certainly hasn't been that all day. Nobody is calling him presidential right now except a few outliers like Newt.

I have as much venom and skepticism towards Beltway pundits as anyone (and I am no Chuck Todd fan), but virtually all those press - even a few folks on Fox - are united with full-throated disgust today. That is important, and it carries that message to the few remaining uncurious, ambivalent and passively 'economically racially anxious' middle of the country.

IKR?  If Roger Ailes had been around, I doubt we would have had anyone on Fox News express their disgust.  It would've been just wall-to-wall "Right on, Nazis are people, too!" garbage.

It's like what J.K. Rowling said on Twitter: one good thing to come out of this is that no longer can anyone in this country pretend they don't know what kind of person is Donald Trump.  We all know now who belongs in his America and who doesn't.

Oh, Clay.  I thought you were a [!@#$%^&*] dumbass long ago.  But I'm glad to see you admit it.

I think there are people in the White House perhaps including Kelly who knew exactly what Trump was going to do. Maddow showed the fact he had prepared talking points in his pocket he used. Doubtful he prepared them. So all these denials from within the WH may very well be BS.

It's possible Trump DID prepare those talking points -- perhaps w/ Bannon and/or Miller? -- but the rest of his staff, including Kelly, warned him just to stick to the script, as it were.

Granted, the folks at TrumpCo. tend to be a rather clueless bunch, but even they had to know the sort of backlash that would come from his remarks.  Hence, all the denials.  They knew, or might have suspected, but either way, they wanted nothing to do with it.

No offense, but that's almost exactly what Trump Nation said and continues to say about Trump.

Another, even MORE improbable theory of mine: TrumpCo. effectively gave the man enough rope to hang himself.  Why?  Two reasons: 1) They were sick of hearing him complain about how the Monday Statement didn't achieve the results he'd wanted (although, it got people to stop talking about Russia for a moment, so...) and figured it was better just to let him do the damn thing and get it over with.  2) Many from within have had it with him and his constant hot messes and felt they needed to create for themselves the perfect opportunity to bail out.  (IOW, they sabotaged him.) Because, the truth is, even before Charlottesville had happened, people were talking about TrumpCo. devolving into total chaos.

[!@#$%^&*], for all we know, this could all be Bannon's revenge against Kelly, McMaster and Kushner.

    • A degree does not make one an expert at their job, it just shows that you can follow directions from a technical standpoint.  It doesn't mean that they're creative. JFP was all about the look of a show without considering that technical beauty can only carry a show so far if there is nothing interesting to go along with it.  Equality means calling out flaws equally in both genders.
    • NBC or P&G was even fool enough to take a full page ad for two consecutive weeks in TV Guide promoting this horrible storyline.

    • JFP has had more defense for her decades of terrible producing than many male producers ever had.
    • It makes sense that she got a degree in directing. I've always said she should have been a director. I think she works better at the technical aspects of the show. I think her problem is the emotion/heart of a show.  She always guts the heart of the show she's on and she makes decisions that stop longtime viewers from watching a show. I don't think it's sexism to call that out especially as I've said similar things about Conboy. I've called out Rauch for much worse.
    • "Aunt Blanche" first appears toward the end of this episode, about 57 minutes in.

    • You're probably right. They may have just wanted edits of certain characters. Hopefully the rest is around.

I'm wondering if there were bits cut from this footage, because to me it seems that may be the case. At 11:23, Laurie tells her psychiatrist that the bar phoned and told her Mark got into a fight and needs to be picked up. It starts to fade to the next scene, you hear some different music begin and get cut off between the static, and where you'd expect to see the aftermath of the fight, we cut back to a later scene of Laurie in bed worrying about what's happening. The credits at the end also show that more than Mark, Laurie and Dr. Northcote should have been in this episode. Another character, Brody, played by Ed Setrakian, is mentioned but not shown. If this is the case, perhaps the original fan who saved this episode has the additional scenes.
    • Anyway… It’s a shame that the video that depicted Leticia’s death was removed from YT.

I've never seen a trainwreck like this in my entire life. 5 pencils and 3 dolls?!!!!!!!!!!! (this little moment starts close to the 7th minute) WOW. THIS IS HAPPENING IN AMERICA?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Ms. Phelps holds a BFA in directing from Carnegie Mellon University, awarded in 1972. At a time when women were underrepresented in directing programs, she was one of the few women in her graduating class. To suggest that she possessed no further talents than completely changing the style of music used on soaps seems like a vast underestimate when one reads her online biography through an objective lens. I guess that I should be more clever than to constantly blame misogyny for these misguided interpretations of her management style.  But, I'll never comprehend why fans unquestionably align their opinions even years after fact. Post-modernism, and the ability to reinterpret context through the study of history, seems to elude this conversation.
