"What do you have to lose?"

My safety, well-being, and possibly even my life when some Dylan Roof wannabe all hopped up on their white fragility and illusions of "winning" decides to open fire on black people.

Between Trump's non-apology apology, his insulting claim to white voters that black voters need to vote for him in order to be wealthy and happy, and his trip to Louisiana, the media must be pulling their puds 24/7. Many of them desperately want a Trump win and they think they can make it happen with this type of spin. And it means they can dust off their old "Can Republicans win minority votes this year...maybe they can!" articles that they update every 4 years.

I think what they really want is a horse race narrative for ratings vs. a win, which is why they're giving him the room. (A few like Halperin definitely want the latter, though; he's become Trump's Baghdad Bob.) Allowing Trump to 'rehab' a little gives the race a little more juice and gooses the numbers, until his next massive gaffe. Which is coming.

Many of the old guard also despise the Clintons and always have, or at least Hillary. But in the end they'll take her over Trump. The Beltway press will just always try to finger-wag to make sure any Democrat 'knows their place.' But Hillary won't care anymore than Obama did, in fact she'll care even less.

I don't think CNN does, though they're pretty bad. I do think Jeff Zucker is starstruck by Trump and Lewandowski in a vapid and apolitical way. I know there's been a lot of talk that many at the network are disgusted by the hiring since Lewandowski is still basically on the Trump payroll and that some were near open revolt.

To me they want that just as much as MSNBC. Trump surrogates on the network are just awful people. but as long as they draw ratings Zucker doesn't care IMPO. Then we look at the show hosts. There are only one, maybe two IMO who actually call out both sides and try to be equal. Burnett is one for sure to me. ND didn't start doing it until Trump called the one reporter a sleaze at a PC months ago. Ever since that moment, the tv press has went all over Trump on everything he does...where as before all they did was smile and report on his poll numbers and primary wins. It also seemed like the still on both networks they are practically demanding that trump stop his garbage and 'pivot'. Halprin is just a lost case...I still remember seeing a picture of him and Trump together on Trump's plane smiling like two morons. But Zucker? what do we expect from one of the men who helped make "Airplane!"

Colin Powell is quoted saying that Clinton’s people are trying to blame the emails on him.

Can we get the quote where he says he didn’t save his emails?

Or the quote where he admits this “scandal” is all politics?

Oh wait. We can’t because that stuff is actually pro-Hillary and no matter what Trump or his supporters say, she is NOT protected by the media.

Her campaign needs to issue a statement. I support Hillary, but keep her away from email questions.

Looks like the media has its story of the week. People are making it seem like she is blaming this on a "black man." (their quote, not mine). I thought she was just pointing out that it wasn't uncommon for people in their profession to use personal accounts.

BTW, this is all apparently being revisted, courtesy of the GOP leaking FBI notes.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
