My mom actually bought one of the products Lar Park Lincoln was selling on QVC called the Freedom Bag back in the day... my mom swore by it.   I know that was one of the reasons she took a step back from acting.

I also knew she had been battling breast cancer for years as well, but I had figured she was in remission because she had been doing interviews and stepping back into acting in the last few years.

RIP

I wonder if Nicollette Sheridan being elevated to the main cast in Fall 1988 and becoming front-burner lead over the course of the season played in a part in Donna Mills decision to walk in Spring 1989.

Paige practically ate the show in the final five seasons. Donna Mills was smart to walk away when she did.

Killing Linda off was such a mistake as she was one of the stronger characters of the young generation, especially once they went full down the Paige-the-damsel-in-distress route. It's also obvious they sort of realised that they made a mistake as they tried to introduce Vanessa (whose acting left a bit to be desired lol) as sort of a femme fatale/young antagonist.

Wouldn't surprise me, especially since she was so frank about not particularly caring for them pitting them against each other. Because from everything we knew about Abby, someone like Paige would've been more like an annoying bug. And of course, she's been pitching the "homeless Abby" story for years as the logical next step for her, so I think she also felt like the character had no real direction left to go.

So saddened to hear of this. I was briefly stunned when I saw the Deadline article.

I just adored Linda once the show moved her away from the very narrow path with Michael and Eric and instead just made her an outright scheming bitch, the anti-Paige, whose corporate climbs and bedroom turns were always meant to be more noble. By that point, the women in the cast were very bogged down with years of backstory or were just heavy or ill-defined. I saw Linda and Anne as something of spark plugs, Linda in particular, as she felt so vibrant, vibrant enough that you could overlook how thin the writing was for the Sumner Group.

Killing Linda off, especially in the extremely punishing, ghoulish way they did it, no purpose, no followup, felt like the show snuffing out its future. I kept up with season 13 for a bit after Linda's murder, but I had little to no interest in it or the last season. And I don't know if that will ever change.

I'm glad Lar seemed to know that the character had a lot of fans.

That's being kind. To be honest the acting in general by the last few years doesn't give me happy memories.

I think Linda was more of an Abby than Paige was, whether the show saw it that way or not.

The writing for Abby had been poor ever since Olivia's drug addiction story had wound down, but Paige's prominence definitely didn't help. Still, as Donna said in an interview, it was inevitable after all the years Abby had been heavy in story. None of the ladies were well-written by that point. It just showed up more with Abby because she had always benefited from more careful writing - the character couldn't exist without it.

I've made it to "Abby's Choice," the second and last episode with a script from Oliver Clark, who also was a memorable guest in "Night."

Oliver has two notable pre-show connections with Knots ladies. He and Beverly Archer starred in We've Got Each Other, which also featured Tom Poston, JVA, Martin Kove, and Ren Woods.

A decade before that, Oliver and Donna played Arab royalty (!) on Broadway in Woody Allen's Don't Drink the Water. I think Donna's the one with the high hair.

No surprise that the ten lowest-rated episodes all would come from the last two seasons.  As much as I see S14 as a return to form after the disastrous previous season, I do admit that KL itself was spent by that point.
