Eh, okay show. The best bit was Nikki pouring David's ashes in the trough in the stables. I busted out laughing. Poor woman, the hard hits just keep coming. I love how Paul is supporting Nikki.

If TPTB are serious about kicking off Nick and Victoria versus Adam, they have to put them in the same environment. Nick has got to leave Restless Style and go back to Newman. Victoria quitting Jabot is a good first step.

^^^I don't think Nick has to go back to NE because this is now personal and at the moment has nothing to do with business. It's all about Victor's approval and that one thing both Nick and Victoria have wanting for years (even fighting each other over it). IMO it's easy to have them fight over business but it being personal ups everything. Take today for example, Adam got personal by blaming Nikki for Skye's death and Nick looked like he wanted to rip his ass apart. And then back at the ranch about Victor. IMO this is gonna end up being who's the better son/who loves dad the most. The son and daughter Victor raised but don't always get along with or the new Neman heir who seems to have taken their place in their father's life.

Was it Victoria who was looking in at Adam when he was looking at the picture of Skye on his cell phone? I thought it was, but I looked up right when the camera angle changed so I'm not positive. At times it seems like those two are going to form a bond, but then it doesn't quite happen, like when Adam left Reed a gift for his christening. Sort of like they both want to try, but there is too much in the way.

Agreed!

Hey, did you all know that song Ana sang, and that then became the montage song? I never knowingly heard it before, but I found myself moved by it...so I did a little research. Skip this if you don't care...but I like it when I learn something :).

Like many of you, I complained about Ana's singing THREE songs today.

Which means I did myself a disservice.

The third song, which was her nicest, was "How Can I Keep From Singing", and she did it credit. (Nia Peeples also sold it with her beautiful, emotional face).

But because I did not pay proper attention, I did not realize that the piano/cello piece that began the SECOND Ana's song stopped was THE SAME.

(I have a question for you: What were the instruments??? When the instrumental piece began, I think it was piano and cello. Then, at least a third instrument came in...and I think that was violin. Was there more? Being hearing impaired really hurts me on this kind of thing, which is why I do not believe Devon could pursue a music career, esp. with a cochlear implant).

That beautiful, beautiful instrumental piece was deeply moving to me, and wonderfully framed the montage with its combination of melancholy and soaring. Sentimental and melodramatic? Sure. But I watch soaps, so....

Now, dramatically, I understand the structure of those final scenes better. Ana's song gave us the lyrics and the explicit meaning of the song. Then, the montage imbued it with feeling as we watched our many "loved ones" (the Genuvians) go through their "endless lamentations".

Now, knowing this, I did some exploration. You may all know this, or not care, but to me it was interesting. Wikipedia says:

The original Christian lyrics are here, and the Seeger lyrics are here.

I also saw the Enya version for the first time, and I was moved by it.

Definitely agree with the singing being on overload, but today didn't bug as much because it wasn't so contrived. They were writing a song and it wasn't like she just starting singing for no reason. I was very moved at the end, but I really think it was Nia Peeples reaction (Karen) much more than her singing. You could feel Karen thinking about her mother. What a waste of a good actress in Nia with this lame Neil/Tyra story. Neil is a fool. Definitely a case of youth over talent.

The montage was very nice and bravo for Nikki doing exactly what she should with David's ashes.

You can say it. Nikki put his ashes in with the horse sh*t. I LOVE it.

Now, the audio link below is a bit lo-fi, but it plays both Jamia's and the instrumental version of How Can I Keep From Singing?, just as they ran in the show. It really was okay, and Nia's face in the first part, and the montage in the second part, made it transcendent, IMO.

I thought Wednesday's episode was damn near Emmy worthy! The show shouldn't be compelling considering this involved Sabrina and David, but somehow I'm hooked and can't turn away. Even from a production stand point they have totally stepped things up. That's more important to me than the story. It finally looks, sounds and feels like Y&R, the Tiffany soap, again. I hope they're able to maintain this in coming months.

I've never enjoyed Karen, but I've come to accept her and am even enjoying her now that Tyra has been thrown into the mix. If Ana weren't so annoying I think viewers would like her better. She's a viable love interest, but the character is written a little bland for my tastes. She needs a little kick, maybe she could become a Mini Dru, thus causing Neil to fall for her...of course before the REAL Dru storms back into town. She could totally pass for 1990 Dru.
