Yes, thanks for this! Looking online, it's from the September 7, 1968 issue of TV guide. It's accompanied by a photo of Laryssa Lauret and her kids. I wish they would have ran it without her wearing that silly black wig; or included a picture of her as a blonde; I would have loved to have seen her natural hair! Reading it, the article seems more inspired by the Cold War than whatever popularity she had on The Doctors.

Thanks @DRW50 Seems like everyone else could see the problems with The Doctors except those who could actually do something about it.

At that time Katherine on Y&R and Phoebe on AMC were very popular characters with younger viewers  and Meg Mundy was a powerhouse so of course put her on the chopping block...

I think The Doctors could have survived if NBC had left it in its 2:00 timeslot.  I dont know what Fred Silverman was thinking in making AW an hour and a half a day, once that did not work, creating Texas and making that show an hour instead of a half hour.  I saw the 1980 episodes and they are way better than what is being written on soaps today.

One of the programmers who worked for him, without giving his or her name, said that they did the 90 minute show because they couldn't think of anything better to try. Meaning they were just itching to change it somehow & how wasn't important only that they did so was.

I am not now watching The Doctors. I watched it live first run through but in discussion with some fans I was surprised that RetroTV is removing the copyright credit lines from some episodes. Does anyone know why they're doing that?

Actor Mark Goddard, who played Lt. Paul Reed on The Doctors during its final year, has passed away.

Here is a short obituary.   (Hopefully, a better one will become available):

Mark Goddard, who played Major Don West, the hot-tempered pilot of the Jupiter 2, on the 1960s CBS adventure series Lost on Space, has died. He was 87.

Goddard died Tuesday in Hingham, Massachusetts, his wife Evelyn Pezzulich told The Hollywood Reporter

Goddard had worked as a regular on the Four Star Television series Johnny Ringo and The Detectives when he was approached by his agent about coming aboard the new Lost on Space, created and produced by Irwin Allen.

    • Huge kudos to the production team and the writers - we truly got to witness some beautiful and heartfelt moments between John’s extended family. DAYS really pulled off a touching and fitting goodbye for both Bill Hayes (Doug) and Drake Hogestyn (John). You could feel the love and respect for Drake throughout. He came across as a real “super dad,” deeply loved by so many. And Deidre... wow. So strong, holding it all together - she deserves her own standing ovation. A few thoughts that came to mind… I wish we got a short scene of Roman sitting with John - just to thank him for looking after his kids all those years (Carrie, Sami, Eric), and to acknowledge that John and Marlena truly belonged together. It would’ve been such a meaningful moment of closure. I kept hoping Kristen would sneak into John’s room to say goodbye - maybe apologize for all the pain she caused, and tell him she really did (or does) love him. But I get it - it wouldn’t be the same without Eileen Davidson. Still, how incredible would it be if Eileen came back for a few episodes and we got some classic flashbacks? And Sami. Where is Sami?! A goodbye scene between her and John felt essential - with her finally thanking him, and apologizing for all the heartache between them. So much history there. Really hoping we’ll see all of John’s kids and grandkids at his memorial - and also Maggie and Julie. Marlena could really use the support of those who’ve known her the longest.
    • Happy birthday to the best of the best.

    • Is that scene from the horrendous Donna/Nick/Pam triangle the show tried at that time?

Some awkward vibes in the interview, although it was interesting to hear him talk about Knots Landing and also mention that he was writing a primetime project with Ken Corday (did that go anywhere?). He also mentions plans to leave again eventually for a primetime soap.
    • Great watch !  I'm reminded how far the show had moved away from the Ryans during this period…Not a trace of the Ryans.  This episode bares no resemblance to the original Ryan’s Hope. Traci Lin is much more compelling than I remember.  Wonder what she would have accomplished if she had stuck it out... Scott Holmes is much more appealing here than on ATWT.  His Tom Hughes was always kinda sour. Grant Show sure did come along way.  His biggest talent here is his chest. Cali Timmons Cali Timmons Cali Timmons…What a star !  I really enjoyed Maggie as the show's heroine.  I wish she had done more work after she left daytime.  But she found love on RH with Geoff Pierson -- that’s probably better than a career.
    • Well, natch....but I mean, they never got a love scene onscreen? I'm just surprised. Although I guess it took Beth and Lujack longer than I expected too.

    • Better than 90 percent of what I see today on my screen. Absolutely mesmerizing.
