I believe there was some BTS stuff that went down at OLTL that saw Quinlan fired.

I remember Doris Belack left over ABCs refusal to give her a pay rise. It seemed odd that Kathy Glass also left as she seemed popular.

Anyway Glass was already at TD when Quinlan arrived. Only Belack and Pinkerton were Quinlan hires. Not sure about James Storm.

That remote was TD's first.

I'm not sure which remote you're referring to, but I'm pretty sure Quinlan started adding remotes sometime in the summer of 1979. There was a remote involving a dying Sara Dancy Powers in a park. And then Steve and Carolee were seen walking to a helicopter during the tornado that ravaged Madison that fall.

Just a heads up that not all of the videos on the free channel are working. I've been been looking around and some of them just lead me to a some type of error or they don't play. I hope this is not the beginning of the end of this platform and they don't desert them.

I found an old upload of the 1981 Christmas episode (not sure of the exact date) on a disc. I looked on Youtube and Dailymotion and didn't see it up anymore, so I decided to reupload it. If it is already up and I missed it - my apologies and I'll take it down.

Sorry - I made a mistake with the first video. I'll post the fixed version.

Thanks for commenting. Hopefully more 81/82 is around beyond what we already know of.

I only remembered hours later how to combine clips, so if that was tough to watch in two videos I will try to put into one at some point.

So what was Luke in the hospital for?

I did find it cute and funny how everyone kept bringing in the same mini-tree to him to brighten up his X-Mas spirit.

I am wondering how long Jason had been dead at this point too and how it'll be until Mona is killed off too.

I wish there were more clips around this era that were available b/c I want to see more about Greta/Billy during this time.

The episode where Jason Aldrich is killed (May or June 1981) is available at the Paley Center. Mona's kidnapped by Catherine Shaw and Jason tries to save his mother only to be shot during the process. So a little over six months since he died. Mona dies in August 1982 during the plague storyline.

The Christmas tree gag was used many years later on "Days of our Lives" when Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitsell were writing. Kate Roberts and Jordan Ridgeway both brought Rafe Hernandez the same tree when he was in the hospital for some reason.

It's a shame the final two years are mostly gone.

I agree - it was nice to see so many warm moments, especially knowing all the death to come in the show's final year.

After 5-6 years of Dancy focus I wonder how fans at the end felt with just Luke there. I wish more of his relationship with Ivie, if there was any, was available.

Thanks as always for the extra info.

Those two years sound fascinating, and I am always interesting in seeing strike related material on any soap and how much damage it did or didn't do (would any of you say TD was damaged by the strike?).

    • Just thinking how the Ruth/Leticia guest spot really cemented how Days had changed. Stunt casting with a campy/comedy character in a 'wacky' storyline was something that a few years previously would have been completely out of place on Days (and most other soaps for that matter).
    • I am interested to see how they handle Leslie/Dana down the road. If she continues in this path, it would be unrealistic to have her around. Like other shows have done this with a 'villian' character and ended up with people looking stupid putting up with someone they detest. Another thought-could they be building up to a murder story? Maybe Les/Dan will be left in a coma and we will have a whodunit with several characters as suspect. It would also be a chance to redeem her I wonder how long the show will go w/o resorting to soap cliche stories-twins,switched at birth, murder mystery, long lost child etc
    • Yeah, Martin really did make me laugh when him and Smitty jumped up to drag Leslie out. I am interested in seeing how this fallout will impact his storyline as well. Especially since he is so protective regarding his family/family's image. I am interested in seeing how he will interact with Eva for the time being, they did have a warmer interaction earlier on once they met. But he seems to have doubts about her possibly being Ted's right now. I wonder how long it might take for him to come around with her. I could see the younger generation warming up to her quicker than the older ones. Though of course I think there will be anger/tension for a while regarding the reveal and her role in it. Perhaps Naomi/Chelsea will ease up on Eva first then eventually Martin/Kat might down the line. I really do love Nicole. I'm glad that DD is playing her. She really is the heart of the family and also agree the show. She is so easy to root for and I'm looking forward to seeing how things work out for her. I am enjoying the development of most of the characters on this show. I enjoy most of them including Bill with his trifling self lol. I do feel that Bill's love for his daughters is genuine and that gives him some depth. A few of the characters I don't care for that much (like Bill, Ashley, Vanessa). I wasn't too big on Andre at first, but I am warming up more to him as the actor is settling into the role. I like most of the characters on this show. Also, I am interested in seeing what happens if Eva indeed goes and lives with the new doctor that was introduced. I could see this adding another layer to her story, maybe she will become more vixen-ish, on what type of relationship they end up having. And/or maybe she will end up becoming more hardened as she deals with being an outcast, especially if she falls out with Leslie as well. I think that AM will do a good job of showcasing the different layers of this character as she deals with the fallout of the affair/paternity reveal.

Got another sad news from the Bahamian community (not a celebrity)  https://www.instagram.com/p/DJMSrYCgyes/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== Former Bahamian Senate President J Henry Bostwick, Husband of former 1st Bahamian Female Cabinet Minister Dame Janet Bostwick is dead yesterday on his 86th birthday.    Thanks and for those who've aren't familiar with the talk shows in The Bahamas on this thread here, his talk show named The Freedom March with Dr Rodney Moncur that airs on ILTV and The Beat 103.5 FM Nassau every weekday afternoons. IIRC, he suffered a illness before he died.  Here's the link for his final taping of the show before his death: https://ewnews.com/this-is-powerful-rodney-moncurs-final-sign-off/

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
