I said all this on DS several days ago, but it annoys me enough to where I may as well vent here too. (this is about last week's episodes)

I'm very confused by the backstory with Seb and Fallon.

For quite a while, all we saw of Seb was exploiting Krista. He cared so little about her that he kept asking her to send him money, working with a dealer that whole time. We saw him only falling in love with her after his recovery began.

Why are they now having him say that he was in love with Krista all along and that's why he broke up with Fallon? Is he just meant to be deluded or is that the new backstory?

Why did we need the backstory with Seb and Fallon anyway? Wouldn't it be enough reason for Fallon to resent Krista if she thinks Krista had all the opportunities she never had?

I won't claim Seb was a good character, or a good actor, but he had enough of a spark that I at least felt a little involved in his scenes. Without him I just have zero interest, especially with Krista becoming such a dreary character who is only there to suffer and to react to people using her/lying to her/manipulating her.

I'm also unsure about what the point was of Max hitting on Sadie to where she was uncomfortable even being around him. When Sadie talked with Holly about Max, shouldn't this have been a topic, rather than just Holly having a vague decision about not wanting to be with someone who might be a risk? Did the show just decide having Max behave the way he did toward Sadie was a horrible idea and now it never happened?

Why didn't we get to see Nicolette telling Holly about convincing Yaz to leave, instead of Holly storming out from something left offcamera? Did they not trust the actress who plays Holly? Why did we not get to see Jane find out? The reactions from Jane, Byron and Aaron should have been the MOST important part of this story because, as they even had Holly herself say, she and Nicolette were never close, so who cares about tension between them? Aaron was just having a big laugh with her not long after. I don't want to see them on their high horse, but considering we just had a story about their not trusting Nicolette, wouldn't her letting a lunatic she barely knew escape charges for trying to kill somebody reinforce their doubts about her?

Is the story supposed to be about Nell keeping Paul and Terese apart when Terese seems to doubt Paul at every turn even without help from Nell (she was already sabotaging business plans behind his back days after their reunion)? They just barely got back together and between Nell and the return of vapid Chelsea, it's already all conflict and obstacles. What I still don't see, at least on Terese's end, is any real trust.

Finished last week's episodes...

The best part of the week for me was Aaron being too late trying to reconcile with Rhett and then almost dying from a spiked drink. The latter scenes were full of "special effects" so derided by many of us on soaps now, but even as I rolled my eyes at what seemed like a ripoff of Requiem for a Dream and various '90s music videos, it didn't detract from the material for me. I was impressed with the physicality from Matt Wilson, especially the moment where he almost walked into a car before jerking back just in time. Wilson has been the quiet MVP of Neighbours since the revival. He's good at comedy and at drama and has very natural emotional connections, even when he is often kept with a small group. He may never be known as a "legend" or an "icon," but maybe that's for the best.

I liked Fallon much more when she just got in and helped clean up the vineyard. Why do we need the convoluted backstory with Seb? Why does she need to be scheming against Krista? This story would make more sense to me if the sister Fallon was against was Reece, as Reece was brittle. Krista is just increasingly vapid, there to react to another nefarious plot and look vaguely confused. How many times do we need Fallon to drone on to Krista about Seb and what she isn't saying?

Holly continues to be entitled and delusional, which I suppose I should praise because she isn't written as a saint, but given how much airtime she inhales, I can't be so generous. There was no need for the pratfalls over the hotel job. And they didn't need to focus so much on her being jealous of Max's friend rather than just concerned for Max's safety. Meanwhile, the whole segment in the bar where they tried to make Sadie, Byron and Max pals only made the elephant in the room stand out more.

I am not sure if they only had the budget for Remi and Taye's father to appear one day, but if this was the most they could manage, I wish they hadn't bothered. Years of backstory casually started and stopped. And Taye is all good now because of the big secret reveal and because of a seminar - absolutely none of which we saw oncamera. The actor who plays Taye was not suited for this heavy dramatic material, to say the least. I don't think anyone involved was doing that great, although Naomi Rukavina was doing her best. That this story got one episode while we will probably have 10 episodes repeating the same lines about Chelsea just annoys me.

Annie Jones is doing a wonderful job, but the fling with Clint was much more interesting to me when it was just about her facing her insecurities in being with a younger man rather than all the secrets. Choices like playing up the guilt over her leaving Sam alone to be with Clint or having Clint leave a condom behind after their tryst just adds a punishing and seedy tone that wasn't needed.

Per TV Tonight:

❝ Neighbours has actually been successful on Freevee, but Amazon axed the platform itself late last year, moving the soap to Prime Video. During that time the execs who had originally championed the recommission had also gone, with a change of direction under the new regime. ❞

    • Ambyr Michelle continues to be *that girl.* She’s just a star, period. Elevates every scene she’s in on the sheer strength of her emotional realism and charisma. Can sell any dialogue. I wish the show veered away from the B&B-style scripting. TMG/Leslie’s tirade stood out, I suppose, but she’s getting a bit mustache-twirly. And I wish DD had more to do in that episode than stand and sob.
    • Well, that was down to CBS being weak and not being willing to just pulling the plug entirely. They didn't want to commit to cancelling the show in case they needed it for their schedule basically; plus they kept showing that they were willing to make cuts if needed to be.
    • I'm sorry but clearly what I've said is not satisfactory to you. I have now read what you have to say, twice. As it happens, my interest at this point is looking at other mislabeled files to find this other Ruth Buzzi content. I do not see any point to each of us repeating ourselves, so I will leave it here.
    • It seemed to be your intent. coming into a thread I started and making multiple posts saying my data was wrong. In the next paragraph you say "Of course, I was suspicious from the very first instance where what I saw & heard did not agree with what it should have.  I'm very glad to know why." That certainly didn't stop you from immediately saying the data was wrong, until I provided additional receipts. Why did you not check the daily episode guide (for instance, this one for the 1980's) I posted for the world to see for exactly this reason...to help confirm airdates: http://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/days-daily-summaries-1980-1989-t15361.html? That is what you should be checking BEFORE you make any posts in the future like this, trying to suggest something from my data is incorrect. You could have also messaged me and asked me why your dates weren't adding up with what the correct data is. I would have fast forwarded through that video you posted, spotted Roman and Hope and immediately have told you that was the 11/1/83 episode.
    • Jason, just let me say that it was not my intent to any way impugn any of your data  or research. I'm very sorry if it came out that way. Obviously the person I got these 4 November episodes from has mislabeled files, multiples, which I was certainly unaware of.  When I am editing it is all about what I see & hear. Later, I find time for greater reflection.  Of course, I was suspicious from the very first instance where what I saw & heard did not agree with what it should have.  I'm very glad to know why.  If you find you are no longer interested in the edit, that is fine. I have no ego in this. I did it only to share it.
    • I feel like Vernon and Anita need to not be hypocrites and try and take the heat off Bill in this case. It's clear that the family used him as a fixer and especially knowing he helped with Martin's situation, they need to either be quiet or support him. BTW...with Vanessa being in the hospital for food poisoning, am I the only one who thought Shanice was gonna say she's pregnant or had an STD? The only reason I say STD is because she hasn't had any memorable sex partners, but I definitely don't believe she just had food poisoning.
    • Yeah, I mean I know that the name still pertains. I just laugh at it not now being called Arizona Dust, but, I admit it simply does not have the same ring to it. Above, that is interesting that Arizona had already come up before the crisis.
    • Anita vs. Leslie, bring it!
    • Leslie and her family are from Chicago? Anita's background also includes being a former Chi-Town native? Might they connect this and go somewhere with it?
    • Honestly who's to say Leslie even birthed Eva, I mean she's a liar, I wouldn't believe a word she says about Eva being Ted's(or hers)
