Fun fact: You might already know this, but I just read at DS today that Dan is married to Myra McQueen in real life. It took me a minute to wrap my head around that.

Some Emmerdale actors have apparently had enough of Digital Spy.

Aside from the time that some of the fans there fawned over Gavin Blythe's tenure, they've pretty much hated the show since about 2007, so I can see why some actors are upset. But Emmerdale has sucked for a long time now, and the actors are lucky they aren't dealing with some of the hardcore hate you see at other soap boards.

My favorite Emmerdale poster there was someone named Aida. She was very disturbed by Blackburn/Blythe's hideously offensive stories like Jackson's suicide, and she left the board. I haven't really read that much of the Emmerdale threads since.

I just received the first volume of "Emmerdale Farm" on dvd, and it really was a completely different show back then. Everything, and I do mean everything has changed! Naturally the characters are completely new, and the village, but also the surrounding countryside. It was much more open and harsher back when the show started. Much more like I imagine Yorkshire, compared to what we see now.

So far 4 volumes have been released (I've already ordered volume 2) and I hope they continue releasing more. The show only aired twice a week back then, with seasonal breaks, so it shouldn't be impossible for them to release several years worth of episodes.

I've been able to see the first two volumes of episodes since they used to be on YouTube. The second volume is just sublime with the Jim / Sharon and Trash stories. Frank / Janie are wonderful as well.

Sorry to hear this. I always had a soft spot for Alan from the time I started watching Emmerdale. His chuckle and his droll humor. I had no idea just how bad a man he was in his earlier years. I loved his relationship with Steph - everything that soaps are supposed to be about.

I wish that this Emmerdale still existed.

Samantha Giles unexpectedly about to tear up at the end of the clip almost got me. Thanks for posting and though he was basically put to pasture when I started watching, I'll miss him as he and Eric are the last vestiges of classic Emmerdale Farm.

Very odd that he died so close to his debut on the show.
