Technically it's not wrong...but it is slightly stretching things calling him an Emmerdale actor. I had to look him up, and it seems he only appeared in two episodes in January 2019, and was only credited as Kev. Not even a surname.....

One can only hope.....

I do hope that they have gotten some actors from the Farm-years for the interviews. Frazer Hines should be an obvious choice for example. Other possibilities are Malandra Burrows (Kathy), Ian Sharrock (Jackie), Tony Pitts (Archie) and Jane Hutcheson (Sandie). Of course it would be fantastic if Frederick Pyne (Matt) and Jean Rogers (Dolly) could participate but they are 86 and 80 respectively, so who knows how healthy they are.  Personally I would love it if they could get Gail Harrison (Marian) as well. She is after all one of the few remaining original cast members, alongside Frazer and Frederick. And if we got an appearance from Katharine Barker (original Dolly) I could forgive almost anything..... :P

Jean still seems active on social media. I  know not to expect much but I am hoping for anything.

It's very sad that he died but this is one of the things I hate about the press. "Emmerdale star, who played...Kev the coachman." It reminds me of how the media kept saying a "Walking Dead" star killed her husband. That "star" was an extra.

Ooh, that sounds promising about Jean....

As far as the documentary goes, I'm gonna make a concession.... although I personally would love it if it concentrated only on the "Farm"-years, I have to concede that that would be unfair. After all, the show is celebrating its 50th anniversary and it was only named Emmerdale Farm for 17 of those years. That's only about a third of the time. If you look at episodes the numbers are even more damning. Last Friday episode 9434 aired, and only the first 1402 went out under the Emmerdale Farm name.

But in my defence those first 1402 episodes were 10 times better than those that have followed!   :P

@I Am A Swede  I genuinely do think that they could make a fascinating documentary on the Farm era, if they wanted to. If only they did.

Some spoilers are out for the anniversary.

A storm (during the day this time) and brief returns for Diane and Aaron. They are also treating Tracy's return as something bit, even though she was always coming back. That tells me they are too arrogant to care about doing much of anything not set in their own timeframe. Not good enough for a 5th anniversary, let alone a 50th. Maybe there will be a surprise.

I should have known.....  <_<

But since it is the 50th anniversary I actually did think they might do something special. I can't even muster up the energy to get mad. I just feel tired, deflated and emotionally numb.

Wait? Those are like the only returns? Ah lol!

i Love Emmerdale Farm and loved the transition! Hell I loved the 90‘s and especially coz of Kim.

i loved the 2000‘s coz of the Sudgens Brothers fighting over Katie and their father got shot. Great Drama! The introduction of the Kings (one of my favorite family of all time on ED. I still think Tom (Carl) was fired 10 years ago. People say that he wanted out anyway but I call it bull. He got killed off to prop Debbie/Chaz and Murray (was it his name? The serial killer?)

Matthew King was badass!!! Loved him

2009-12 were the last years I felt hooked. The Wyldes were a nice try tbh. Kim/Carl‘s affair was my favorite. Such chemistry.

Lachlan and Meenas separate reign of terror at least got me on the edge of my seat for a while. Katie’s Death etc.  I even enjoyed the beginning of Charity and Vanessa but that ship has sailed for me.

i never felt this way how I feel about Emmerdale right now and the state it’s in but I hate it. I never even felt that way about Bold and the Beautiful. It’s repetitive and sometimes dull but I know what I’m in for. Emmerdale starts promising storys and dissapointed me every single time in the past decade. I’m about to give up on my Emmerdale. I even loved this show more than Corrie/EE and even more as some US Soaps. But I can’t do this anymore. It’s just not worth it to keep up. I didn’t even felt that way when All My Children died in 2011 :(

Well.... I found this list and....wow, I don't know what to say.......

The top ten episodes that defined Yorkshire's iconic Emmerdale as voted by you

Spoiler

Emmerdale has been going since 1972, and it's not slowed in popularity in those four decades.

Firmly placing itself as the crown of Yorkshire's shows, we asked our readers what they thought were the episodes that defined the much loved soap.

Have a look below at what our readers defined as the best ever episodes of the popular soap.

1) The Plane Crash (1993)

It was the episode that scored Emmerdale its highest-ever viewing figures. Also known as the Beckindale Air Disaster, it was bound to take the top spot. Heartbreakingly to many, it took the lives of much loved characters including Archie Brooks and Elizabeth Pollard. Airing in December 1993, it was the episode that had 18 million 'hooked'.

2) The Storm (2003)

The Storm hit on New Years Eve 2003, and it led to a devastating conclusion. Tricia Dingle had been estranged from husband Marlon, due to his affair with Charity Tate. She set off to leave this village despite the storm - and before her untimely death, she had read the list written by her husband, of the 101 things he loved about her. Despite her decision to forgive him, the storyline had paved the way for Tricia's exit from the show.

3) Hotten Bypass Crash (2016)

This drama filled episode was sure to rate highly as it was filled with one of the biggest stunts the soap has ever pulled off. Viewers watched as 'deranged' character Emma Barton kept her husband James prisoner in their house after their split. James finally manages to escape after numerous attempts, but his ex still manages to catch up. Standing above the motorway, multiple much-loved characters sustain serious and potentially fatal injuries as Emma pushes James from the bridge and causes Ashley Thomas' car to flip. As other characters become involved in the tragedy as the pile up begins, it's multiple devastation as Aaron Dingle (who has Lachlan White in the boot), Robert Sugden, Pierce Harris, Rhona Goskirk and Paddy Kirk are all injured. Whilst many character's lives hang in the balance, it's Aaron and James who finally are lost.

4) Belle's Mental Health battle (2020)

This storyline spanned multiple episodes but it was one that was hailed as providing much needed awareness for mental health. Belle Dingle suffered from schizophrenia, which saw her involved in multiple catastrophes that kept viewers hooked. Yet as the storyline continued, the plot made sure to raise awareness of the condition and highlighted signs and symptoms.

5) The Mirror Maze (2015)

This episode was filled with tension and drama from the offset. As a helicopter crash caused sisters Val Pollard and Dianne to be trapped in the house of mirrors, it was time to end their long standing feud. After Dianne caused Val to face prison on fraud charges, the sisters used the disaster to have a heart to heart about their relationship. Yet as the house of mirrors shake, Val was stabbed by a falling mirror, protecting Dianne.

6) Ashley's fight with dementia (2016)

This portrayal by John Middleton was highly commended, as it had viewers up and down the country invested in the gut wrenching storyline. Acclaimed as a sensitive and moving portrayal of long standing character viewers saw Ashley Thomas's struggle with stroke-related early onset vascular dementia. The actor told Radio Times. "My hope is that Emmerdale has at least been able to embed the issue of dementia into the public's consciousness.

7) The Post Office Robbery (1994)

It was an unlikely setting for an armed raid but Reg Dawson tried it. Causing an explosion to rip through the shop, Viv Windsor was led out of the back of the shop whilst the men also turned on the gas hobs as they left.

8) David Glover's death (1996)

It was an emotional episode that had viewers on tenterhooks. David was killed in a fire on Christmas Day, saving young Jamie from a burning nursery at Home Farm. With a will he or won't he ending, David's entrapment in the flames saw him being rushed to hospital, and later dying.

9) The Acid Attack (2018)

Emmerdale decided to tackle the subject of how an acid attack can affect lives in 2018. Whilst it caused some controversy, as viewers claimed they were left "sickened" others were happy the show seeked to raise awareness. Ross Barton was attacked by drug dealer Simon McManus, and eventually McManus was brought to justice.

10) The 40th Anniversary Episode (2012)

With an audience of 9 million, many tuned in to celebrate. The rural soap was filmed live, and featured two births, the aftermath of a double wedding and the murder of a key character. Carl King met his maker after being hit by a brick by love rival Cameran Murray. Yet to offset the sadness, two babies are born and at least one wedding was celebrated.
