OLTL: Discussion for the week July 7-11

I SOOOOO love Carlo and Talia. That's got to be one of the best moves Ron and Frank have done, and they did it well--written into the history but creating a whole new side. Kudos to BethAnn--she was amazing!

Bitch cole does nothing for me. I think todays' were Brandon's best scenes so far with this (last week was off) but I can't watch because it annoys me. The "I need a family so I turn to TOdd who I don't realize is holding my mom" is lame. Seriously.

Nora definitely did that out of spite but Lindsay killed a man and lied to everyone about it. Doesn't matter if everyone hates her. Doesn't matter why. What matters is the truth.

And the fact that Lindsay didn't believe in Bo and their love enough to trust him with her secret proves how little she thinks of herself and how she never deserved Bo in the first place.

You'd also think, since Ron is treading on history here, that she'd learn from her mistakes at this point. It's time to give Lindsay more credit a smart woman and make her more confident in herself.

Same annoying thing they did with Carly on ATWT and Phyllis (until they diluted her) on Y&R.

I actuallt feel sorry for Starr in her scenes with Marcie. Starr just seems so desperate and hopefully that Marcie is the answer. Meanwhile, she's more than likely about to bring Todd down on all their heads again thanks to Cole.

Some more random musings about today's show:

~ WHY WHY WHY do Cris and Tonio still refer to Carlotta as "mommy?" Or maybe it's "mami." Or however the Spanish variation is spelled. I know that it's a term of endearment for one's mother and all, but still, it sounds so silly. Whenever I hear either one saying it, I immediately picture them playing with Tonka trucks and Matchbox cars, asking Carlotta if their hot tamales are done yet.

~ I'm not in love with the Tina storyline (and yes, I will proudly scarf down the crow for saying that Tina would cross paths with Viki or someone else very soon...spoke way too soon on that one), but I absolutely adore Andrea Evans and the character of Tina and I just want to wallow in her greatness. Her and Cain had me in stitches today.

~ Carlo's voice TURNS. ME. ON. That introduction....my GOD. "Ahm Cawlo Hessuh...." He KNOWS that he's bad news!

~ Continuing on a shallow note. Brandon Buddy DOES IT for me. DOES IT. Make no mistake that I very much enjoy the view when he's on. But is it just me, or does he have a very slight case of the manboobs? Either that or he has some killer pecs.

Loved Cain & Tina today, and I wasn't looking forward to seeing them together at ALL. Very, very funny... and very Cain & Tina

Loved Talia today for the first time ever...am going to enjoy watching her go up against her daddy. The only downer? Antonio & Cristian will have to be part of it, too. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Loved, loved, loved Lindsay today. Brilliant of her cryiing onthe floor in the end, and Nora--who I now hate--shaking her head no when Linds asked if it was worth it... nobody won this one. I did like the other characters' reactions, too: Rex & Marcie sympathizing with Lindsay; matthew taking his mom to task for what she'd done; bo's final, surprising words to Lindsay: "How are we supposed to work thru this?" Sounds like the door is not completely closed, in his mind.

So now that we know Tina & Cain are pulling one over on Mendora, and Carlo's back, can we PLEASE move this show along and send everyone back to Llanview so Tina and Carlo can play scenes with all the vets a lot of us want to see them acting with again? How come the Vegas get to have all the fun?

I want to like Tina, but all I am seeing is Rebecca Hotchkiss part 2! I really haven't been mesmerized by Andrea Evans like everybody else, but I'm hoping that changes once she interacts with real actors. All this camp just screams Rebecca to me, and is ruining Tina's return for me.

Actually, when you were watching Andrea Evans on "Passions" you were probably seeing Tina Lord part 2 !!! I've never watched Passions or seen AE in the role of Rebecca - but as a long time OLTL fan from the late 70's - AE is playing Tina exactly the way she played her 18 + years ago. To me it's as if she'd never left - the mannerisms or "Tinaisms" are still the same...I'm loving Andrea back as Tina - just want her back in Llanview with Slezak, Strasser, Watkins, etc...

I've seen AE on Passions and she was far more ridiculous and cold and silly than she is right now.

Brandon Buddy is looking like he's on a 5 day bender, he looks horrible. He's got bags under his eyes, his hair is a mess and he's gained weight. I wonder what's going on with him.

I don't really see the difference. Hell, you can pretty much substitute Sarah for Gwen (Rebecca's daughter on PSSNS) and it's pretty much the same scenario. I think the voice and mannerisms are quite the same, very high-pitched. I think it was a bad idea for Evans to come off a silly soap like PSSNS, and then be put into a silly story on OLTL, where the similarities are uncanny. It makes her seem like a one-note actress, which is something I know she's not, because her quieter moments on PSSNS were quite effective. Then again, it's not like many people watched PSSNS, but still...

Haven't noticed Buddy, cause I usually leave the TV set when him and Starr are on.

I'd still do BB. Come on. He's cute. I like his moobs fine.

I agree AE is not playing Rebecca. Rebecca would care more for the jewels than Sarah's safety. And it would've been so easy for most other writing regimes to keep Tina that way, but fortunately RC's didn't.

    • The rumor Zimmer writes about sounds like something Paul Rauch would have told Zimmer about Jacqueline Courtney as a way to discredit Courtney as Rauch loved to do that sort of thing. Zimmer probably just retroactively fit it into her story. Zimmer does not have good sense of time in her memoir. Who knows?!!? Zimmer strikes me as someone who always has to be competing with women.  Zimmer and 1986: If I had no context and someone told me that someone in the 1986 scenes would win four Emmys, I would immediately pick Denniston. Granted, I've only watched about a week's worth, but my word, Zimmer just fades into the background even when she's the main player in the storyline. There's no life in her performances. It feels that Zimmer is unhappy and that she's letting it impact her acting.
    • I'm dreading going into the ninth season; I've got to be mentally ready for it.

Does not help these seasons are damn near thirty episodes. Twenty-two should've been their cut-off.
    • True. I did enjoy the episodes surrounding Greg's faux death, too. @Liberty City Agreed, it started pretty slow, but once Jill falls off the cliff, I was more invested for some reason. Yes, I genuinely enjoyed the episodes surrounding Greg's fake death. I agree, it began quite slowly, but once Jill fell off the cliff, I became much more invested for some reason. I guess bc more of the cast was working together.
    • Shouldn't Laura talk to Kevin first before agreeing to her brother Martin moving in with them? Her house is like a hotel for people she never sees -- like Lucky, who she's unaware of his latest departure as a man who runs away from everything. Meanwhile, Lucky is busy giving away his cabin to Isaiah, who we've barely seen him with.
    • With Sean Kanan as Carl Ivati.
    • These episodes have been delightful so far. I enjoyed everyone who stood at the podium today, as it reminded me of all the decades of history.
    • I've actually enjoyed Lucky's return for the most part, but his "farewell tour" scenes this week are just so weird, and they keep pointing out all the opportunities the show has missed to make him more vital to the canvas. Like I think his scenes with Isaiah today--where he gave Isaiah the deed to a cabin Luke built--were the first time we've seen the two of them together all year. Why go to all the trouble to build up this friendship when Isaiah was introduced, when they basically abandoned it as soon as Lucky moved back to Port Charles?
