Y&R: Favorite Storyline Ever?

Just wondering which storyline each of you would rank as their top favorite :)

I was all ready to name one, but then I realized such a thing was not possible  Even though I have not seen all of the show, and haven't seen the storylines I'm about to mention unfold on screen, only on YouTube and dvds, I'd say my all-time favorite would be the whole Nathan/Olivia/KeeshaTramp thing. Honorably, I'd mention Brad in a Cage, everything with Lauren/Traci/Sheila and the Jill/Jack/John/Divorce saga. Not to forget the David Kimball Saga, Shawn Garrett stuff and I'm sure you get my drift ;) lol

So can you choose one? I'm sensing mine changes every now and then

One is reallllly hard.

In that case: Jill getting half the Chancellor estate.

Other notables are the Aids storyline of Olivia/Nathan/Keesha/Malcolm, Jack plotting secret revenge on Victor with Brad leading to a whole new chapter of Jabot vs. NE (1998-1999), Lauren buried alive by Shawn Garrett, Who shot Jill (then Brenda Dickson)?, Who shot Victor?, Veronica Landers shooting Nikki (actually, this could MY favorite story ever, if that b*tch had died LOL) and the afternath and there are many more.

I can't pick just one...

However, the David Kimball Saga was what really made me a Y&R fan, to this day I think it's one of the best stories Bill Bell ever created and one of the best stories to ever air on daytime over the past 20 years. That story was shocking, scary, and just amazing to follow.

There are a lot of good ones. I liked Rose Deville(sp?) and her kidnapping of Nina's baby. That would be a good story to do now. What ever happened to her baby??

My favorite storyline is rather long: Jack & Jill having sex at a shelter, Lindsay Wells taking pictures, John and the nasty divorce culminating in Jill being shot ! Waouh Brenda Dickson was terribly good !

I have to disagree about the Josh/Nikki/Sarah sl.

Josh was incredibly boring and bland-what could have been a new dynamic to the Victor/Nikki relationship was a non-event.

The storyline should have been full of twists and turns.

Instead we had Veronica in the phoniest wig and-wow!-glasses,skulking around the Newman ranch. She replaced Ellie, the never seen, never mentioned maid.

Then there was the dreadful romance with Miguel.

Didn't the climax take place on a stormy night? There was the phony'lightning'that flashed the same time as the thunder, defying logic.

As for Brad in the cage-no,no,no!

Best Y&R stories

1979, summer and fall. Suzanne Lynch covets Kay's husband Derek (Suzanne's ex). She poisons chocolates given to Kay to drive her mad, sending Kay to an institution. Suzanne keeps bringing her chocolates :-). There, another resident takes Kay's jewelry, then starts a fire. Kay escapes, but due to the jewelry-wearing charred cadaver is presumed dead. Kay hides out at Liz Foster's house, unadorned, recovering from the toxicity. When she is finally ready, Kay makes a triumphant return. First, she does payback, driving Suzanne mad by haunting her as the ghost of Kay--playing some of the same tricks Suzanne played (it involves tarantulas). Then, as Jill swoops in and marries Derek (because it was Jill who had the first romance with him...and Kay who tricked Derek into marriage to spite her), Kay gets dressed up in her FINEST and barges into the bridal suite AT THE MOMENT OF CONSUMMATION!!!! Jill (Brenda Dickson in full bloom) shrieks in sheer horror, realizing not only that her nemesis lives, but that her tie to the Chancellor fortune-by-marriage is again lost.

Best. Story. Ever.

Hard call, lots of good stories...

But my fave would be:

Jill Crashes Kay's Party and Gets 50% of the Chancellor Estate. That was terrific!

Followed closely by: The Mamie/Jill War during the mid 1990s as John and Jill's marriage falls apart (again)

    • Creatively, he probably should have stayed with The Doctors, where he stood out as an antihero lead. Not sure what happened with GH. He didn't have the same impact. Was it bad writing, not clicking with co-stars? Didn't they gave him a boat load of money to join GH in 1976? Was Mark Dante just a toned-down version of Nick Bellini? Were they basically the same character?
    • All I can think of is if a lot of big names were leaving around that time she wanted him back as a stopgap, although I have never seen any real evidence that he was popular with GH viewers.
    • I loved watching Shanice hand Leslie her ass and finally shutting her up. It was so good. I also love Martin & Smitty's family.  Anita has to have some sort of plan giving Leslie the tickets to mail for Winterfest. She has to be setting her up for a fall. It's pretty obvious to me Vernon is not cheating with Sharon. I think Sharon is helping him with his terrible singing voice for Winterfest. I still believe Bill & Dani are endgame but I love Dani & Andre too. I am definitely enjoying this story. And making Hayley a black widow is a nice twist.
    • Sorry for the spam. Wasn't sure where to put this, it's from Tony Geary's husband's IG. Tony watching Genie and Maurice on Mo's show.
    • This show is really trundling along BTW. When is someone going to show up to slit Beastmaster's throat or crack the whip on metrosexual Sidwell? (BTW, openly presenting this cheery bon vivant as casually bisexual would at least be something vaguely diverting.) At least kill Brennan by year's end. I'm bored.
    • She told Vanessa to "DOUBLE her offer" on the Jarvis house.  The Jarvis family accepted the doubled price.  Assuming the house has an appraised value of $2,000,000, she's theoretically paid the Jarvis family $4,000,000 for the house.  The bank would loan Leslie 80% of the appraised value ($1,600,000), and Leslie had to pay the balance with cash at closing --- $2,200,000.  She only had ONE million.  Where the hell did she get the rest?!  And now she's got contractors working on the house all day & half the night.  Who's paying THEM?  I keep thinking all this will crash around her.  Either that or the writers have absolutely no idea the limits of a million dollars.  Sounds like a "lot of money", but it obviously ain't when we look at Leslie's spending since she got that million dollar check in August.

    • Vernon is an idiot. Why would he have Sharon in the same hotel that Leslie is staying at?
    • Yes, that out of the blue return was odd. Maybe GG found a forgotten clause in the contract he signed when he was wooed to ABC and they were forced to take him back! Like George Reinholt he talked about the contract that promised him primetime roles. But it was loaded in the networks favor. I think it was Gloria Loring that re-signed at Days on the promise of primetime opportunities, but that was all it was- she was put up for guest spots and TV movies but not necessarily guaranteed that she get the role.
    • I still am baffled by why Monty brought back stunt hire Gerald Gordon in the early '80s out of nowhere for like a year. I haven't found anyone who can come up with a thing he did in that second stint of note.
