OLTL: Discussion for the week June 16-20

I liked the "don't touch me" line too. It was a history nod to fans who know about the rape, while new fans who don't kwow about the rape just thought she didn't want a stranger/intruder to touch her.

I was a little disappointed we didn't get the continuation of Marty/Todd today. I hope they're on Tuesday.

Dayum Allmyshadows!!!! How can you feel sorry for Jared in all this mess. He's taking full responsibility for what? He's agonizing over what? Sure they upped the ante when the Buchanans lost BE and Nash died. But Jared was willing to go to jail long before that. What he wasn't willing to do was walk away from Natalie. All Natalie is doing is sticking to her guns. Like Asa would. She made a choice in Texas. And Natalie always lives with her choices. Jared seems to need some practise.

I have never been a faithful OLTL watcher. It's just never been my show, if I was watching an ABC soap when ABC soaps were watchable, I loved AMC and GH in it's heyday. That being said, I do remember the 80s and that means I do remember Tina Lord (plus that naughty Gabrielle Medina played by Fiona Hutchison!). So I decided to watch Andrea Evans' return and kids, I have not been disappointed. She is just a dynamite actress.

I see why there is such love for Carlivati on SON. OLTL is a show that is clicking, all the big divas have something (or someone) to do. It's rapid fire, I like it. Will I stick with it? I don't know. I'm a Bell soap viewer, always have been, always will be. But perhaps I'll make time for OLTL once more.

One question: Does Andrea Evans have a contract or is she recurring? Any time length?

Gigi & Dorian are great.

David & Viki are great friends.

Loved Tina. But damn she is an awful mother.

Damn. Can natalie just be murderd? Like JFP needs to come from GH to OLTL just for her murder so it can be brutal.

so did Shane make the note?

i *LOVE* the actress who plays sarah's hair. I am making a friend get that cut asap.

cant wait for tomorrow. glad to hear chris call out tina. and please.. NO antonio/jessica go around again. its over.

I can see Andrea staying recurring. She had the oppurtunity to go on contract at Passions but didnt want to bc she liked the freedom recurring gave her to do her other side projects. They still used her heavily when story warranted it and she got a decent amount of airtime

I thought I was the only one who could see the parallels of that story and this one; plus we have Brody who's in the armed forces. Makes me wonder if RC is going to have him deployed to Iraq.

Missed OLTL yesterday and it was terrible not being able to watch it. The entire 2 o'clock hour I couldn't think of anything else but what must have been going on with the show. Hopefully I'll be able to watch today.

I think it would have been a closer parallel if Shane was really Brody's son, but Gigi told Rex that he was his in order to break up Rex and Adriana. So, while Shane bonds with his "father" Rex, Brody would turn up alive, Gigi would lose her [!@#$%^&*], and after a while of trying to keep the lie going, she'd tell the truth and Shane wouldn't accept Brody as his father.

But, the way they're doing it makes more sense, considering Gigi never intended to break up Rex and Adriana. I like the story a whole lot.

As for the note that Rex got, when they showed Brody looking through the cut-up magazine, I figured we'd see Shane come into the scene, but then I figured that Brody was the one who made the note.

And damn, I have to questions about school in Llanview: At what time does it start? I find it hard to believe that Shane would be up early enough before school to actually do things (like learning to lift weights). Most kids sleep until like two minutes before they leave to go to school. And also, when does school let out? It's the middle of June and the public schools in Llanview are still open?

LOL I was wondering the same thing! I don't have any kids in school right now, so I have no idea when school years start and end, but back when I was in school, we didn't get out for summer until June (like early to mid-June), so maybe that's what it is. Shane was up pretty early to do stuff. Shoot, I'm grown and I don't get up early enough to do jack squat before I've gotta leave the house.

LOL! See, I just graduated, and for most of my years in school, the year began in mid-late August and ended in mid-late May. So, the kids here have been out of school for a nearly a month, yet the Llanview gang is acting as if it's still mid-term! I think it really depends on the area and what the tradition is.

    • The rumor Zimmer writes about sounds like something Paul Rauch would have told Zimmer about Jacqueline Courtney as a way to discredit Courtney as Rauch loved to do that sort of thing. Zimmer probably just retroactively fit it into her story. Zimmer does not have good sense of time in her memoir. Who knows?!!? Zimmer strikes me as someone who always has to be competing with women.  Zimmer and 1986: If I had no context and someone told me that someone in the 1986 scenes would win four Emmys, I would immediately pick Denniston. Granted, I've only watched about a week's worth, but my word, Zimmer just fades into the background even when she's the main player in the storyline. There's no life in her performances. It feels that Zimmer is unhappy and that she's letting it impact her acting.
    • I'm dreading going into the ninth season; I've got to be mentally ready for it.

Does not help these seasons are damn near thirty episodes. Twenty-two should've been their cut-off.
    • True. I did enjoy the episodes surrounding Greg's faux death, too. @Liberty City Agreed, it started pretty slow, but once Jill falls off the cliff, I was more invested for some reason. Yes, I genuinely enjoyed the episodes surrounding Greg's fake death. I agree, it began quite slowly, but once Jill fell off the cliff, I became much more invested for some reason. I guess bc more of the cast was working together.
    • Shouldn't Laura talk to Kevin first before agreeing to her brother Martin moving in with them? Her house is like a hotel for people she never sees -- like Lucky, who she's unaware of his latest departure as a man who runs away from everything. Meanwhile, Lucky is busy giving away his cabin to Isaiah, who we've barely seen him with.
    • With Sean Kanan as Carl Ivati.
    • These episodes have been delightful so far. I enjoyed everyone who stood at the podium today, as it reminded me of all the decades of history.
    • I've actually enjoyed Lucky's return for the most part, but his "farewell tour" scenes this week are just so weird, and they keep pointing out all the opportunities the show has missed to make him more vital to the canvas. Like I think his scenes with Isaiah today--where he gave Isaiah the deed to a cabin Luke built--were the first time we've seen the two of them together all year. Why go to all the trouble to build up this friendship when Isaiah was introduced, when they basically abandoned it as soon as Lucky moved back to Port Charles?
