OLTL: Discussion For the Week May 5-9

I'm glad I wasn't the only the only one to notice this. This has been a little pet peeve of mines with soaps, especially the ones on ABC daytime(not sure if Y&R does the same thing). If the ABC soaps are trying to be like primetime showing their credits during the show, most primetime shows do it after the opening credits. Most also have the credit appear for the creator during the openning sequence. OLTL is the only ABC soap that got this correct. Perhaps the production team at OLTL aren't as incompetent as I once thought.

Now if only someone could give this show a title sequence deserving of this great show!

Todd knows where Cole/Starr are! Nice! John and Blair are on their way there too. I'm really enjoying this storyline.

A drunk, spiky haired Rex pole strippping? LMAO!

OMG. I am so glad I started watching this show. This is what I want in a soap opera. As a newer viewer, I have two questions though.

1. Why is David Vickers out of town?

2. Do we really know who Rex's father is? I thought this came out once, but I am drawing a blank. I know Charlie is Jared's son, but do we know who Rex's father is?

OMG Rex had me laughing so hard I thought I was going to choke. He was SO flipping hysterical.

For once Adriana needs to listen to her mother (can't believe I said that) but man Adriana is whacko, but I do have to admit, she is fun to watch now.

David Vickers - HYSTERICAL!!

Wow, Adriana is selfish. Dorian tells her that while she was chasing Brody for her, her family was falling apart. What does Adriana have to say about that. "Starr has a mother. Mom you're mine" WTH? Isnt she like 22, 23? Starr and Langston are 16 and need adult supervision and guidance. I cant beleive Adriana wants Dorian solely fixated on her and to hell with those other girls who are goign through quite a crisis

We dont know who Rex's father is and neither does Roxy. She was a drunken mess back then and it could be anyone

Adriana is a bitch and I love it, why couldn't her character go this route before the actress left? For years Adriana has been boring and now she finally has potential and she will be gone soon. I hope and pray they don't make her crazy enough to go to the nut house. I'm glad dorian ditched her to help Langston. David was hot in that apron.

I loved Monday's show and Thursday show. I was bored with Tuesday and Wednesday's show. There were too much focus on Rex and Gigi on those days and no Dorian. Dorian is quickly becoming my favorite.

    • I'm not invested in Ted as a character anymore either. He's not the same.
    • I have a feeling it was either coincidence or it was an idea whose time had come. Remember Bill Bell was also into the psycho-sexual. So it was happening more than one place. Pete Lemay began disagreeing with Irna quite early on. He shut up & listened at first, naturally because he had to learn the basics. But, as soon as he had, they began to have arguments, disagreements. They both were devotees of character-driven but the similarities stopped pretty quickly. Bolin as far as AW was concerned was nuts & bolts, or more $$$. It was all about the numbers. And the numbers were great, double the ad revenue & that went to the network. As far HTSAM was concerned, that was her baby, no one else's. It is so funny to me that Lemay started this by accident.

    • What did you all think of Hogan/Patti compared to the stuff with Liza and Sonny? Did you buy anything about Sonny and Bela? Has a recast ever decentralized a character as much as Sherry's exit did with Liza? Or do you think that would have happened even if Sherry had stayed?
    •     I think the three comments pretty much summarize my thoughts. The green is not pleasant. I think I know where they were going with it, but it doesn't translate on screen.  The bar at Uptown is actually pretty good. It's my favorite part. I totally get it having an East Coast vibe. I used to frequent a place like it and while I wouldn't necessarily call it pretty...it was a bit Kitsch but it had a vibe. This place is lacking the vibe. I know it's not easy to hire extras, but even having a karaoke night in the background or live music would change the whole feel.  Vernon and Anita having breakfast there was a great idea. Another place besides the country club where they could talk. However, why were they using country club china at an establishment like Uptown. It just seems a bit confused. I don't understand what it's supposed to be.
    • Add me to the list of people who like Tanisha Harper as Jordan I never understood any of the criticism of her, to be honest. She's gorgeous and she's solid in her role. Sounds like a soap staple to me.
    • Thanks for the walk down Memory Lane!   (Can you imagine what the synopsis for 2024/2025 will look like 50 years from now?  It'll basically just be a flowchart of who was the CEO of which unseen corporation, lol.)
    • Yes . Its time to get these folks outta their clothes lol.
