I've seen it before on DVD but not in years. Please post.

I'm still searching for the sequence when Mason attempts to hold a business meeting while Eden is in Hawaii with Cruz so he can proxy her vote. Lane Davies is HILARIOUS in that sequence and I've only found it once.

This was on YouTube once... and it either got taken down or buried... but I loved the sequence where Mason broke into CC's bedroom while he was with Gina and brandished a sword. It was obviously during the Charles Bateman era, but the scene was so damn good!!

Hehe, I regularly visit that site but thanks for posting for those that don't know about it! Actually, Nicolas was the very first SB fan to have clips from the show uploaded onto his site, even before the days of YouTube. I LOVED it. I wish I had my old computer because I used to be on a mailing list that sent me Cruz's Trial (over Elena's Murder) in its entirety and it was nothing short of amazing!

Thank GOD for SlutNamesWereUsed on Youtube. He literally has most of Cruz & Eden's entire storyline posted on his site, including all the Santana stuff. It's how I got hooked on the Victoria Lane storyline. What I REALLY like about it is he leaves in scenes that are C & E related, but don't necessarily have them in it. I've literally gotten to see everyone in those clips, Gina, Keith, Augusta, Sophia, CC, Kelly, Santana, Ted, Julia (and I LOVE Julia/Eden and Julia/Cruz interactions) and Lane Davies' Mason, who is nothing short of brilliant in his interactions with EVERYONE. God, upon re-watch, I realize how truly irreplaceable Lane was.

As much as I grew to like Gordon Thomson, he couldn't even come close to that droll line delivery (and the subtext! THE SUBTEXT!) that Lane Davies gave in every scene. It's too bad the show was pushing so hard for A Martinez to win that Lane never submitted his name, until that dreadful Sonny Sprockett storyline. Judith McConnell and Jed Allan never submitted either, which to me is CRAZY!

Then again, that's when JFP invented bloc-voting, which largely contributed to all of SB's acting nods, and the much deserved wins of Justin Deas (twice!), Justin Gocke, Nancy Lee Grahn, Marcy Walker, and A Martinez. I still wish that Robin Mattson had won for one of her nods and that Louise Sorel had gotten a nomination at some point. They were two of the most entertaining actresses on the show! I think the only time daytime awarded a comedic actress was when Leann Hunley won, or was there another comedic winner?

Dorothy Lyman won as Opal Gardner -- twice, I think.

I completely agree with you about Lane Davies. His Mason is one of my favorite soap characters ever -- so much so that I could never buy Terry Lester or Gordon Thomson in the role. And I'm shocked that neither Allan nor McConnell submitted themselves for an Emmy. I loved Allan as DAYS' Don, but CC was his crowning achievement. And I hated McConnell as AW's Miranda, but she was sooo good on SB.

They were being team players. Jed & Judith's bread and butter were the nominations and wins for A and especially Marcy. You can see in their faces how genuinely thrilled they were when she won and I thought it was extremely gracious and telling that she thanked both of them (and A, of course) in her speech. In fact, I also thought it was a VERY classy move for her to thank her former co-stars at AMC before she even began to get into the SB cast. It ranks among my favorite Emmy speeches of all-time, right up there with Susan Lucci and both of Maura West's speeches, especially the 2nd one when she brought her daughter onto the stage.

A few more episodes

I didn't know Ted was having any problems with CC at this time (beyond the angst over insta-child)? What were they? I guess he was gone not long after this.

I didn't know Kelly ever worked at Capwell. Did that just start when Carrington took over the role? Robin's Kelly never had a job (beyond being kidnapped or on the run) did she?

    • John Black actually was the ultimate good guy soap hero. So I don’t mind the town gushing over him. It’s deserved.
    • Be glad it wasn't a Perry production.

    • The whole town gushing over John Black as if he was a saint is eye rolling.  I guess death really colors people's memories over his many flaws, but I guess that is normal and human nature. I'm still confused as to why Leo hasn't been written out.  The actor stank up two soaps with his sub par acting, what does he have on TPTB's to remain on these soaps.   What's the point of Cat?  I hope the new head-writers figure out her purpose and develop her character. And I much prefer scenes not focusing on John's death because life does go on for the world when someone passes.
    • Wasn't there a break in Zaslow's first run? I thought Roger was off-screen for a while, and when Zas came back, Roger was hiding at the boarding house and Nola figured out there was something hinkey about him. I'm pretty sure Simon chose to leave the first time and was replaced by RVV. I don't want to assume Jordan's issues played a role in his first departure, but Maeve said in an interview that at some point, it became very hard for her to work with him and she asked to work with him less. That seems to fit 1986, where suddenly Vanessa is essentially Ross' law clerk and not at every Lewis family moment.
    • He needs to divorce her arse with her constant cheating.   She's no better than Doug... she's F*cking pathetic.
    • I didn't know of any interruptions for Maeve Kinkead after her 1997 return. Her runs would then be 1981-1987, 1989-1996, 1997-2000, short arcs until the end. I knew Maureen Garrett second run was interrupted from a 2009 interview but I couldn't recall the exact year. Her runs would then be 1976-1980, 1988-2000, short arcs until the end.
    • As I said in May, I have no problem with Martin and Bradley being married. You can still do all the fun introloper storylines with them as you do everyone else. Both men of a certain age, and it is very believable for them to have either a first love or have been previously married. And, you can do it without either of them cheating!

I said something similar during the premiere week. Bill was the perfect age to play Martin as Vernon and Anita's child. I would've much preferred this version, but oh well.
    • I don't know how you want to count Maeve. She "retired" in '00, but would come back for appearances. I don't know however if she made an appearance in '01 or '03. In '02 I believe she came back for Josh and Reva's wedding. I assume she came back when Gina Tognoni took over the role of Dinah. And I know she was back for Ross' memorial service. Maureen Garrett was around until at least '00. I don't think Holly was in town when Ben returned though. I just got pissed off about Jerry all over again.
    • So, pretty sure Zaslow, Garrett, Kinkead, and Newman all chose to leave the first time. (If that's wrong, please correct me). Bernau - not sure why he left the first time. Was it voluntary? Or did they decide to write him out? They were writing so many out during that time period. It always seemed odd to me that they introduced Alex, FINALLY giving him someone he could talk to, and then he was written out. Or maybe that's why they made Alex his sister, so she could take his place as the head of the Spaulding family? Would love more intel on that if anyone knows. Simon - was he replaced by RVV? Or did he voluntarily leave the first time? It seems to me like one of those times TPTB decided to sex up or glamorize a character (and it clearly flopped). If he was fired, interesting he came back. Again, would love if someone could spill the tea. Clarke - I've always assumed he left because of his personal issues, but not sure if that was the case the first time.
