I haven't read any spoilers and stuff about the show because I wanted to be surprised. So it was nice to see Hannah and Erin. Of course I knew there was gonna be a connection with Silver, but I didn't know how.

I loved loved loved the premiere. It had drama, momentum, likable characters (which is a problem for me with some new shows), a great cast and much more. Rob and Lori fit right in as "the parents". Great choice. Btw, I think it was a good one to add a little twist with Harry and Naomi's mom's child. It made Harry and Debbie's perfect life, not so perfect.

Looking forward to next week. :)

I was loyal to it and I knew it was going to end soon so I stuck with it.
I'm not following. The show lasted for ten seasons.

I never saw any similarities between 90210 and Degrassi. Degrassi (in all its incarnations) was/is so gritty and real, 90210 was a lot more sappy and saccharine to me. I always got the feeling that the writers and producers of Degrassi thoroughly researched the social issues they dealt with, whereas 90210 gave characters drug addictions and child abuse for the sake of giving them. 90210 and Melrose Place were so fluffy, and a lot of the time their portrayal of certain issues was so horrendous and so poorly researched. Also, DeGrassi always had better diversity and a more organic group of characters, I didn't find any of that on 90210.

However, I understood why 90210 switched to a more campy and trashy format from season 5 onwards. The characters were no longer teens, they had to find something to do with them. What better way than to trash it up? :)

I LOVE this post!

When I first heard the news about the remake, I thought "There's no way I'm going to like this" but after I watched the premiere I kind of changed my mind.

I think the authors did a good job in creating a connection between the old and the new generation. It was good to see Kelly again, she looks so beautiful now. Can't say the same thing about Brenda, because she looks horrible these days. I guess the only reason why Mrs. Doherty agreed to work on this show was because she needs the money.

I really like some of the teenage characters, like Annie, Ethan (what a hottie), Naomi and Silver. I don't like the two other guys, Dixon and Navid. Rob Estes looks great too - and he finally did a shirtless scene. Can't remember seeing him shirtless on Melrose Place. I'm not too fond of Lori Loughlin, maybe she's the wrong actress for this part because she looks like she's coming straight from the OC and not from Kansas.

I'm looking forward to the next episode. Besides, it's the only new show of the 2008 fall season that I watch and I hope this year my pick won't get cancelled like "Cane" did last year.

I have to agree on that first one! I was very sceptical at first. But I found the mix between the old and new to be great. Fab first episode.

I agree that Jennie looks damn good these days. It was nice to see Shannen as Brenda again though.

I really liked the show until season 7 or 8 (whenever Michael Braverman and then John Eisendrath took over as showrunner). I think it was the first season after college graduation.

She didn't look horrible IMO, just aged, as do all of the original cast.

No, I don't think she looks horrible either. I got HQ pics of her on her way to Letterman last night. She looks really good actually.

I think the 90210 premiere should've only been 1 hour. It lost me about 15 minutes in the 2nd hour. I will give it another try next week though. I wish I knew Brenda was gonna be on right at the end, if I did I wouldve tuned in for that scene. Damn. I think they threw too much into the show imho. I also wasn't impressed with some of the acting. The blonde diva bitch girl seems older than the rest of the teens. Is she the Gabrielle Carteris/Ian Ziering of the new?

If you're referring to Naomi, then no.

And I don't think a two hours premiere was too much. New shows sometimes (or often) disappoint people simply because they didn't get the chance to get involved enough during that first hour, if you know what I mean. Two hours is a good kick off for a brand new show. You get to know the characters better.

If you already lost your way then this show is probably not for you. imp

It's back! The CW's take off of the 1990 Fox hit Beverly Hills 90210 that is. This time the show dropped the Beverly Hills from the title. Instead opting for a sleek sexy simple and to the point 90210. So what was the show like?

Well to be honest, sleek, sexy, to the point, and yes even simple. No it’s nothing new; it’s not reinventing the wheel. However it is true to life (to a certain extent). In the first episode we saw sex, drugs, drinking, plagiarism, and a vindictive blog. You know typical teenage stuff. Yes the show’s setting allows it to show 16 year old boys driving cars that cost more money than the house you live in and a couple jetting off to San Fran for dinner and back home before 10 on a school night. But this isn't a reality show; it’s prime time teen soap opera.

And a teen soap opera it is. You see... Annie wanted Ethan and then became friends with his girlfriend Naomi who used her. That friendship ended. In the process of that Annie pissed off new friend Silver who in the end realized she didn't hurt Naomi like she wanted with her mean blog, she hurt Annie. Annie then aligned herself with Silver over Naomi and we found out Silver & Naomi were BFF's until Naomi spilled a secret that ruined Silver's life. Naomi's boyfriend Ethan cheated on her and Annie seen. Annie told her brother who told Naomi to get back at Ethan for telling a lie about him. Now Naomi wants Ethan back, Ethan wants Annie, and Annie ended up kissing some random boy she met. Then there was the drug addiction, the pigs, and a few other subplots and backstabbing I’m sure I missed.

Fans of the original also had reason to tune in. Kelly Taylor now works at West Bev as the school’s guidance counselor. Her old frenemy Brenda Walsh came to see her - and her 5 year old son. Brenda & Kelly's scenes felt oddly simple. It just worked. Brenda even ended up babysitting to Kelly could go out with school’s hot young teacher (played by Ryan Eggold). Next week offers more than the premiere did for fans of the classic, as Brenda ends up directing the school play and Kelly takes her alcoholic mother Jackie to task over failing as a parent to Silver, Kelly's little sister.

Was 90210 a mind blowing, fresh new exciting teen drama? No. But it was an amazing two hours of what you’d expect when you tune into a teen soap. It did an amazing job of setting up long term story arcs, such as the Naomi/Ethan/Annie triangle and the fact that Naomi's mom and Annie's dad have a son out there somewhere, as well as introducing everyone developing episodic sub-plots.

Tune into the new 90210 every Tuesday night at 8pm on The CW!

The MTV Canada after show pointed out something I was wondering about--they said the girls had taken "TV skinny to the next level". Compared to old school 90210 it's obvious but even compared to the lead girl on Degrassi--miss skinny has lost MORE weight for her US debut.

REALLY disgraceful. I think execs and networks should crack downon this

I liked it, would like Kelly's son to be Brandon....I hope Val comes back and Steve and Andrea. I didnt like how they casted the ugliest girl to play Hannah Zuckerman?? didnt Andrea get married??? and that her daughter was on for 2 seconds. and they made fun of her....Where is the Pit after dark?? and where is the radio station in the school???
