Y&R: Andrea Evans to return?

I read on Gold Derby's Daytime Emmy forum that SOD is reporting that Andrea could be headed back to Y&R. As Patty Williams Abbott, the role she previously played? Nope. As Amber's mother Tawny. *vomits* It'll take her however I can get her, but Paul actually needs family so this seems insane to me.

They could kill two birds with one stone.

Remember Patty went crazy, shot Jack, and left town. Years later, Mary Williams told Paul she had gone missing.

What if she went to California, drifted into drugs and debauchery, and became a tollbooth operator? So her family couldn't find her, she renamed herself Tawny.

Yup...Amber's mama.

This brings Patty back, BUT it also links Amber to a "core" (well, kinda, once was for a few months) family on the show.

Then, if they bring Mary Williams back, she has a wild daughter, wild granddaughter, and a new law-and-order granddaughter. Suddenly, we have hope for some depth and some humor.

That's what _I_ hope happens.

To paraphrase Carolyn Hinsey: If the characters we care about (e.g., Mary, Paul) care about Amber...well then we the audience will start to care about her :-).

Seriously, I am one of the few who LIKES Adrienne Frantz and Amber. She's the only female member of the young set who is NOT milquetoast...who brings energy to her scenes. She's a classic soap catalyst. I think the structural problem is that they didn't mine her B&B history (so she has no depth on Y&R). This would be an alternative way to build some depth.

But I know I'm in the minority on this one :-)

    • Poor Philip. I appreciate how seriously his and Xander’s scenes were taken though. It felt like real drama and not like a big joke. You could actually feel Xander’s pain and anger. It adds another dynamic to the Kiriakis family storylines and I’m looking forward to the effects that this is going to have across the canvas. I can see them weaving Kate and Roman into this storyline as well. And it would be really nice if this somehow helped cause conflict for Stephanie/Alex too, especially because of what Alex did today. With any luck, Stephanie will be furious about it.  And I’m glad that Sarah has Maggie to confide in about her secret. I also liked seeing Steve and Shawn (and their matching jackets

) continue to be on the case. Kevin, revealing everything to them is another interesting turn in this storyline. Plus, it seems the writing has improved for Shawn as well.
    • TBF, I don't think we've seen her interact enough with the "have-nots" to know if she is or isn't. It's possible, but I don't think you can say that from her interactions with Eva and Silkpress.
    • You're right - though I did confuse his name with an actual actor who was on Dynasty.

    • "Might" is not "is". And I was talking about the specific case about her attitude to Eva.
    • But she can still be a priveliged elitist. She might have the same attitude to anyone from 'the wrong side of the tracks' whether they had an agenda or not. Nicole seems to be an outlier in her family. Her parents, kids and sister seem to think themselves above reproach.
    • Damian's clothes have definitely been a specific look -kinda reads 70's pimp to me . I guess it's a trend?? but it seems more suited to Holden. JR is 51  and I guess Damian is supposed to be a little younger but it looks a little odd on him in my book. But at least they're trying. The men's clothing has been bland/generic for years-either suits or basic casual stuff interchangeable  b/w them.
