January 6, 200818 yr Member I don't see why Y&R would be exempt from a WGA award. But Griffith, Bell, and Cwickly would not receive the award, only the WGA writers (assuming the strike ends in 2008.) I believe as brimike pointed out, since Y&R's head writers are FiCore members, that alone excludes the show and writing team from being nominated for any type of WGA award.
January 6, 200818 yr Member So, Y&R won't be nominated for an award. Big whoop. If awards are all these shows live for today, then no wonder this industry's in trouble.
January 6, 200818 yr Member So, Y&R won't be nominated for an award. Big whoop. If awards are all these shows live for today, then no wonder this industry's in trouble. This is only if Latham doesn't return after the strike of course and Griffith remains in the HW position. I doubt the show would want to risk that kind of isolation from the WGA, even if being FiCore is within WGA rules...
January 7, 200818 yr Member The other thing is... even if technically the Fi-Core writers are still allowed to be nominated for a WGA award (and I'm still unsure how that all works), they'll certainly be disliked enough that they wouldn't be nominated on principle alone. The other members of the writers' guild that stuck with the strike probably would rather cancel the awards than give it to a member who went FiCore during a strike... even if it is technically allowed.

January 8, 200818 yr Author Administrator Here's something I never expected.....Hope Harmel Smith writing? What??? AMC: - Hope Harmel Smith first listed as Writer on January 8
January 8, 200818 yr Member Hope Harmel Smith is a Friend of Julie from PC, so it's not that surprising that she would be asked to join AMC right before the strike.
January 8, 200818 yr Author Administrator Hope Harmel Smith is a Friend of Julie from PC, so it's not that surprising that she would be asked to join AMC right before the strike. It's surprising that she's writing becauses she's never written for daytime before. That's why I found it weird.
January 8, 200818 yr Member Hope Harmel writing? Wow... now that's weird. If only it would help the quality of the show.
January 8, 200818 yr Member HOw was Hope listed? Breakdown? with the other writers or alone like Garin Wolf?
