Lowder's acting has improved on B&B. He's done some amazing work this year, especially with the Ridge fued earlier in the year. I may be in the miniroty, but I prefer him to the previous (very dorky) Rick.

I agree that he has improved, perhaps because the direction on B&B is much stronger. Btw, you touched on the one issue that I always had with Torkildsen: He was a great actor, but really didn't look the part. Now, if Torkildsen had abs like Lowder's.... Well, that's a whole other topic, ain't it? lol

Lowder is bearable on B&B because the writing is 1000 times better but he still is absolutely forgettable...

Shes not related to Brady or philip by blood, and far worse has been done (Bo & Billie, who are philips siblings; Belle/Shawn; various others...)

i guess not so much now, but when Kyle Brandt was in the role Philip/Sami woulda not only been hot but a fun couple. The chem Ali & Kyle had was amazing.

Excluding the excrement that was Rick/Phoebe/Constantine (and I know that is a VERY big leap to make), I think Kyle Lowder has made Rick more predatory and charming and, well, adult. I actually prefer him to Torkildsen who was great in the College Kid/Young Adult SLs but not so convincing thereafter.

I also like KL's bro/sis vibe with Bridget and the seething Ridge Hate. It makes sense because Rick has always been uber-protective of his mom and has been pushed around and belittled by Ridge in recent years.

Most of all, his scenes with Eileen Davidson have been incendiary. Rick & Ashley could be the making of this character -- and a really spicey, interesting May/December romance (although, let's face it, Eileen Davidson has never looked hotter).

That in itself could have been fine except that Bradley would try to write him as some kind of power player and it did not work. But more importantly I didn't think JT could act at all. He had some brother/sister chemistry with Jennifer Finnigan but the current Bridget/Rick have one of the best sibling relationships B&B's ever seen. They share a similar look and aren't cloyingly sentimental.

Lowder has finally brought a more masculine edge to the role and it sits better with where the character is positioned within the conflicts of the canvas. I mean the idea of Torkildsen tossing snarky asides at Susan Flannery beggars belief; it was embarrassing enough when he used to try and physically attack Thorne.

And when Caitlin & Rick were the smuggest couple on B&B (and that's saying something)?

Yeah, I couldn't buy him as Bad-Ass Rick either -- especially when Ridge and CaitlinTeeth were doing the talking for him. But I can buy Kyle Lowder. And before anybody asks, physically, KL has never done anything for me, either on Days or B&B. But I still think he's a good Rick.
