ALL: Would you accept a "straight" character coming out late in life?

I always thought Henry was Katie's gay sidekick. Big WTF when they showed him having romantic feelings for her.

lol...its true. I thought Ethan was more into JR than he was into Kendall. JR definetly seemed to enjoy hanging out with the tall Brit

I remember the gay Holden rumors. Plausible to me.

I agree that later in life GLBT stories can and should be told. Certainly on OLTL nobody would blink if Rex realized he was deeply closeted and self-loathing, though he's not that much "later in life" (and the story I had in mind for him and C.J. Roberts cast none of them as saints). When I was thinking about GL I tinkered with a couple ideas for GLBT stories. One was the obvious meet cute young gay story, with "James" Chamberlain (Quint and Nola's son) and Shayne Lewis, but the other was with the previously-str8 Vicky Spaulding and Marah Lewis (as played by Kimberly Brown). And on DOOL, I thought a story with Kate Roberts (who's fucked just about everything else and worked as a jetsetting escort, so of course she'd have experience) would work. Same with Reva on GL. With some characters, as with some people in real life, you can tell that sex is not simply a form of expression, nor simply a weapon or currency, but something ingrained, an engine in them; gender is secondary.

hummm... brad's thighs... brad as gay.. humm.. i need to stop..

Mrs C on Y&R finding a female friend that she falls in love with would be great, IMHO. Paul & JT haveing a secret affair is so obvious its painful, IMHO.

on B&B they cant affor dnay men o be gay. there are not enough of them. however Felicia a les? yes.

ATWT could work it with henry & brad. GL's Bill lewis sure does leabe enough for it to work as well.

over on ABC daytime the fact that rex on OLTL isnt gay is just idiotic. Im sure Tess coulda had a few same sex flings. but they are both young and this is about later in life so... but the obvious on OLTL would be David.Jr on AMC sure seems to be all angry and stuff maybe due to all his pint up man love? again, hes not "later in life" but whatever. and on GH i could see Monica feeling all alone and hurt and all that god stuff and a female coems along and they become friends.. and then more. Mac could work it as well.

and on days.. i could see Lucas just not wanting a woman after sami. and he finds some guy. max so swings both ways.

Of course she would. It's really amusing how the shows thing they are being so daring and cutting edge at times like Jessica Buchanan turning into a slutty alter ego. They don't even scratch the surface of what is normal life for young people today. I'm not saying everybody is sleeping with anything that moves but most people at least have friends in their orbit who swing both ways and do drugs and live otherwise perfectly 'normal' lives.

i agree. but esp for a char like Tess. she was a drunken whore who went clubbin for a living. really? the girl never hooked up with a girl? please. im not saying Jessica should be gay or bi, but i do think it would be awsome if jessica ran into a girl who slapped her and called her a bitch and it comes out that when she was tess she had an affair with her.

And even more characters: Jill Abbott, Y&R (Jess Walton's version has always given off a lesbian vibe IMO, and that almost deep smokey voice of hers just does it for her). Noah Bennett, PSSNS (He has no business playing a straight character, and a boring one at that)! Jack Abbott, Y&R (Somehow I'd buy it if it ever came up that Jack had a fling (or several flings) with some guy(s) in his distant past).

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.
    • Today reminded me as to why I’m a little disappointed in the name that the new Pope chose

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.
    • I guess, according to Mike Manning in the Michael Fairman chat, he was almost Derek

    • I imagine Brad will blow through all the money in a year and come crawling back, just as Portia warned him not to.

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
