You guys thought Chris R rocked it? OMG he was horrible. I didn't understand a word he was singing. I was so disappointed.

Chris Sligh and Blake butchered their songs. Ugh. I think it could really hurt them.

Phil did well, but I dunno ... he didn't do the song justice, but he tried and did a good job.

Haley was actually really good. I'm not sure what show you all are watching. I actually remembered her after the show was over.

Brandon was alright but had the dreaded first to perform slot. He will be totally forgettable and I think he will be eliminated.

Sanjaya ... I think after a year or two of real musical training, he could have a good voice, but he just has no range and he's just ... I dunno. He has potential, actually but something is just missing.

Gina did her best. I liked her performance but it was just lacking something.

Melinda, Stephanie, Jordin and Lakisha did, by far, the best tonight, although I was SO disappointed in Stephanie. She was going so well and then to leave out the best part ... wow.

Frankly though ... it just seemed liked SOMETHING was missing from each performance. This is why I kind of hate theme nights ... it ends up screwing over some really good singers ...

Bottom 3?

Chris R, Blake, Brandon

Going Home?

Brandon

I think Brandon is going, too.

Haley actually reminds me of Katharine McPhee and her voice is as good (IMHO) and so I hope she is given the chance to come into her own. With the wonderful girls, though, I'm thinking she won't have a chance.

First for me was Lakisha, second was Jordin and third was Melinda (it was her song). Phil surprised me the most and Blake disappointed me the most. I think Diana Ross was right about Jordin. She is gorgeous, has a blowout voice and has exuberance, the spirit. If she keeps performing a little better each week, she could win this.

I agree Jean. I mentioned this before but Haley is almost channeling Katherine. I felt happy for her tonight and I am back to liking her. The judger did seem hard on her the past few weeks and Simon's nice words led her to breakdown and I think that earned her alot of points. Here is my breakdown of tonight:

Brandon: A mess and totally forgettable. Going home IMO.

Melinda: Superb. That word says it all. Her humbleness and her lack of arrogance are refreshing.

Chris S: Butchered his song. He shocked me. That song is a classic and he totally destroyed it. He will stay but he lost a ton of points with me. Don't mess with the arrangments. He needs the glasses too. If it weren't for some of the others, he would be gone I think.

Gina: Ok. Lacked emotion and persazz. Nothing special. Better then half the guys. Needs to be careful of shouting though.

Phil: Not bad. I liked it. Shouted at times but not a bad vocal.

Lakisha: Fantastic. Some of her facial expressions bug me during her singing but everything else is great. Classy, elegant...well done.

Blake: WHAT THE HELL?! I appreciate originality but wow. That was bordering on butchering. He was alright but I couldn't get over how much the song got trashed so it ruined it for me. TONIGHT'S LESSION TO TAKE AWAY FOR THE FUTURE...DON'T MESS WITH CLASSICS!!! It's ok to update them a bit and do them your own way vocally but to completely change it like he and Chris S is dumb. Lost points with me.

Haley: (see above for my comments) Just to add to what I wrote above...I like her. I liked her a few weeks ago but her attitude bugged me but today she got back on my good side. Simon was right...she could be a surprise. Her vocal wasn't bad and her worst mistake was forgetting the words at one point.

Sanjaya: Started off like crap and there was a point at the beginning where it wasn't bad but then the higher notes came and....ugh.... I feel bad for him but he shouldn't even be here. I wonder how he even moved past the judges picks rounds. Bringing the Justin Guarini hair this week didn't help. He needs to go!!! I doubt he will but he is who should go. Just a mess and I usually don't like the judges being rude but Simon was right on. Diana Ross should be screaming hearing that.

Stephanie: Ok. I don't like her being so much like Beyonce. Everything she sings lately (except the first week of viewer voting rounds) sounds like Beyonce. It's way too similar for me. She sang well. I didn't like the arrangement but it wasn't butchered like others did to their songs. I wanted more uptempo parts to it but my biggest issue is she is bordering too much on being too similar to Beyonce.

Chris R: I didn't think it was too bad at first but I watched it again and Simon was right. What a mess. Again, like Stephanie, he is bordering on being way too similar to someone and that is Justin Timberlake. It's ok to sound like them but spice it up a bit because, otherwise, it's too copycat-ish. His vocals were a mess tonight.

Jordan: The darkhorse and Simon was right...a major finals contender. One of her best performances and I am almost ready to say the best performance of the night. I think once she gets with a song she really connects with (see Angels Brought Me Here by Carrie Underwood) she will explode. I still think one of the divas will get picked off so Jordan getting to the finals would not shock me. She can sing and she was flawless tonight.

Bottom three could be anyone but Melinda, Jordan, and Lakisha. Everyone else is fairgame but I think Brandon will go home ultimately. I want Sanjaya but I doubt it. Plus, Brandon went first and did nothing to help himself.

Oh, and  to Ryan, Paula, Simon, and Randy. Simon and Ryan's back and forth was hilarious  . Great seeing Diana Ross and she was great with the singers.

The judges do seem to be having fun and are more enjoyable to watch this year. Simon, much as I love him, still seems a bit over in critism when a little less would have got the point across, though. I do love how he paid attention to Haley tonight and happy he gave her hope.

I'm going out on a limb (way out) and predict the bottom three who will be called in the elimination group will be:

Chris Sligh

Brandon Rogers

Stephanie Edwards

and Brandon will go.

Chris had a wretched night in my opinion and even though he is a good singer ordinarily, he isn't doing a thing for me. I love Stephanie, but she has no fan base and that is really strange to me. Even Dianna Ross loved her.

I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing Dianna tomorrow night. She was the very first singers ever that my son wanted to listen to and ran to turn up the music whenever she was on.

    • Garneau was in the Liberal party and his riding was in Montreal. He was the first Canadian in outer space.
    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
    • On the subject of sets (seems more interesting to discuss than the actual show)  Some sets we don't see anymore Lauren/Michael apartment (haven't seen that in years) Victoria's house (are Marian/Tessa living there?) Apartment above Crimson Lights (I think Chelsea was the last resident) Penthouse (Lily's home) Chancellor Estate (Devon/Abby) Chancellor office (once Dark Horse) Nick's house GCAC room (used as residence/hotel room for several characters) Some of these may pop up again. The tack house, for example, was not seen for many months before being used again. Have I missed anything?
    • Thanks for searching through everything. Worked on them so long, just too lazy to check for those links myself, so I am glad you chose to do it! I guess I never did type out anything for 1973-1977 in regards to the preemptions, but they are on the charts at least (and this far back, they don't seem to do any of those "breakouts" anymore, so things are simpler in the 1970's, so eventually I could type those out).
    • I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.
    • The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.
