September 17, 200718 yr Member Damn, I was close. She was an actress on GL, I guess that's why I thought she wrote for the show. I also think she wrote for Santa Barbara, but I don't have that in her profile. Must friend proof. I thought for sure she had written for ATWT.
September 17, 200718 yr Member That's what happens when you indulge in wishful thinking, Soapsuds. Fran Myers DID write for SANTA BARBARA, though, during the show's first year. Roger Newman, too.

September 17, 200718 yr Member Speaking of Roger Newman... What ever happened to him? I know he left PSNS awhile ago, but he hasn't popped up on any show since. Maybe Robert Newman can get him back on GL as a writer...
September 17, 200718 yr Member No discussion on returning additions to Y&R, namely Vincent Lechowick & Michael Montgomery? Maybe the boycott extended into September. Look for more changes before the year is out on Y&R. To save money, does anyone see more shows following GL & ATWT's footsteps by streamlining their writing staff (writers writing breakdowns & scripts)? If so, which ones & is that a good idea? Just imagine Courtney Bugler being credited as the BDW & SW. Three words: One hot mess But seriously, I think it's a very bad idea. All writers have their strengths & weaknesses, and some are better at scripts than story planning. Relying on a small writing team (cough*Y&R*cough) will prove to be unwise in the long run. Why do you think LML came on board to Y&R? Ratings, and nothing but ratings. and how will she leave? The same way she arrived. Don't they all? Wash, rinse, repeat...Wash, rinse, repeat... September 17, 200718 yr Member Conversely, I've yet to hear a significant number of people say that a Patrick Mulcahey- or Michele Val Jean-penned script was/is just flat-out awful. And folks? Val Jean's writing for Guza, and Mulcahey's writing for the BOLD AND THE FRIGGING BEAUTIFUL. I can tell you that right now for Patrick. His script for the rape episode is just... Blah. Horrible. His dialogue has seriously deteriorated in recent times, and I've never actually considered him a maestro. Edited September 17, 200718 yr by Sylph
September 17, 200718 yr Member "Well if thats the case, these script writers should just quit because it just so happens to ALWAYS be their scripts that get tweeked all the time, for the bad." That might be the case. It might also be the case that someone at the show doesn't like some of them and is intentionally messing with them, giving them bad lines on purpose or adding them to stink the scripts up. I'm sure it happens. The entertainment industry is a business filled with back-biting, a get-ahead mentality, and loads and loads of neuroses and jealousies.
September 17, 200718 yr Member I'd like to see proof. Predict the SW or BDW of AMC for this upcoming week. I did it twice, already. I predicted Beall wrote the August 22 episode and that she wrote Tad's birthday episodes. Here's the proof.. I wrote my post unedited at 9:25pm August 21 -- and you'll see that the very next day, Beall was credited as BDW. August 22- BDW: Amanda L. Beall; SW: Rebecca Taylor; D: Michael V. Pomarico And then another unedited post on August 30th at 9:08am -- four hours before the episode aired -- I eluded that Beall wrote Tad's birthday. Lo and behold... August 30- BDW: Amanda L. Beall; SW: Karen Lewis; D: Conal O'Brien August 31- BDW: Amanda L. Beall; SW: Karen Lewis; D: Conal O'Brien
September 17, 200718 yr Member Becca and Mandy - explosive combo! Oy, vey! Don't I know it -- damn near destructive!
September 17, 200718 yr Member Don't you roll your eyes on me! I was rolling at the combo. Any combination of Mandy, Becca or Courtney makes me hit FF and go straight to General Hospital.
September 17, 200718 yr Member Someone needs to post that article! Do you remember what issue that article is in? I don't remember exactly, but it was about a month ago. It was about head writers repeating themselves from show to show. It talked about Megan Mctavish always writing rapes, and Michael Logan had a few quotes about stories for shock value vs. tried-and-true stories like Romeo and Juliet. Casiello was quoted as saying it was unfair to compare todd's execution on One Life to Live to Sami's execution on Days - how the only thing they had in common was an execution, but the Days story was about Sami coming to terms with her past sins and whether or not Lucas would come forward and save her, whereas todd's execution was about Spencer manipulating Blair, and the beginning of tangeline, and the David Vickers connection to thomas McBain's murder. As for Days, he said he saw similarities between Craig/Carly/Jack and EJ/Sami/Lucas (the reformed bad girl torn between the rogue with an edge and her loyal, steadfast love), but that the key to telling the stories differently was to study the characters and how they would react differently to similar circumstances. And that Carly tenney would have a very different reaction than Sami Brady. I'm totally paraphrasing here... it's been awhile since I read it. I'm sure I'm leaving something out.
