ATWT Discussion: Week of November 13th

Okay, I know a thread was made for yesterday's show, however, I want to make one for the remainder of the week.

Let's start off with the Matie/CarlySimon saga:

It took ONE episode, just one, to give Mike a backbone, and cuss the crap out of Katie. Mike should have been more like this in the entire relationship with Katie. Not only did he tell her to grow up, he basically said alot of the stuff that some of us viewers have been saying about Katie for I don't know how long.

I wish the writers will stop making Carly a walking doormat....Geez, it's getting pathetic. She's on with Simon; she's off and wants to head back to Jack; she runs back to Simon. It would be nice if Carly actually just stood up and does what she says she's going to do. If she doesn't want Simon, move on and be done with it. Let Simon wallow in guilt with Katie and just focus on what should be more important; her children.

Next, Jade is already jumping to conclusions regarding Holden. I honestly don't think that Holden is fooling around; that would be a big slap in the face after all Lily has been through and we've been down this road not that long ago, Julia Larabee ring a bell? Hopefully, Holden is doing something that concerns Lily, something that will be a happy surprise.

When it comes to the men in Oakdale, mainly Paul, Dusty and Craig, the women that are involved with them all turn blind, deaf and dumb.

The Blind:

Meg is definitely the blind chick in Oakdale; she never sees when she's being used and set up in someone else's agenda. Jack of all people should know the history of how Craig uses women to achieve his dirty deeds. Meg thinks she knows so much, but winds up being the fool in the long run.

The Deaf:

That would be Emily. Henry talked and talked and talked about how she needs to move on from Paul and stop scheming with others in order to win him back, however, Emily couldn't hear anything. All she could hear was her own words about how she knows what she's doing, how she's not going to make any mistakes, blah, blah, blah....Henry could have saved all that energy talking cause Em won't hear a single word, unless it's someone telling him that Paul loves her again.

The Dumb:

Now that would be Lucy. Ugh, she says she's a grown-up and she knows how to be her own person, but she's letting both Dusty run her and her own father run her. She's trying to be there for Dusty for all the wrong reasons: she thinks that by helping Dusty, she's going to be right back in the place she was at in the past; in his arms. This is a battle she shouldn't even be involved in. If Dusty and Craig want to be that shallow and callous as to use other people to get the better of one another, fine; but she doesn't have to be their pawn in order to win.

Here's a situation where ignoring history makes Meggie look even stupider. She was married to Tonio Reyes, FCS, who makes this Craig look like a Hardy boy when it comes to plotting.

And I hope today kills every last remnant of "friendship" between Carly and Katie. Not because Carly's so hurt over Simon...but because they never should have been friends in the first place. I cringe remembering that Carly gave Katie a wedding dress for Skatie's precious snow-filled miracle wedding. I want them to feud...and not the namby-pamby [!@#$%^&*] that passes for feuding nowadays. I want bloodshed. Check that...I want Katie's blood shed.

It's too bad they saved all of Mike's vitrol for the end. I could have liked him (well, at least a little bit more) if he'd done this two years ago.

Great Post- SweetNYGal33- ITA with you.

Speaking of MightyMouseMike, I still wanted to slap the crap out of him even though I agreed with everything he told Katie. His responsibility level in all of this is still waaaaay up there.

In another thread a poster lamented about how Katie was being written, IMO it is Carly that has suffered from really bad writing that has completely ruined her. Carly over the years has gone from being devilishly devious, to happy housewife raising her own and somebody else kids, to Jack's doormat, to all out dingbat, ....etc. I still don't get the point of the whole Gwen thingy. After all the drama between Carly/Gwen there is very little interaction between the two of them now. I hope Iris returns so that we can get a glimpse of the old Carly.

Speaking of Meg, Emlooney, and Lucy-- you hit the nail square on with your description of them.

ATWT used to be my favorite show. I hadn't watched soaps in years and I caught a glimpse of Roger Howarth on tv. I loved Todd on OLTL and it was the only reason I watched that show.

Anyways, this was when Paul had just left Rosanna and she was marrying Craig. I was hooked. Then I met Carly and Jack and was right smitten. I started going on YOUTUBE and catching all the older shows so I could catch up.

I can't even watch this show right now and that has never happened to me in a soap. I usually say people are over reacting and there's at least something salvagable to watch. But this show is really getting on my nerves now.

I don't even recognize Carly anymore at all. The love story I watched of how and her Jack fought to be together, it just seems strange how they separated them over Nick. Hate that. And this whole Carly/Simon angle is horrible. Can't even watch it. And where the hell is Casey and Maddie. I'm so sick of the Gwen show I could puke. I like Gwen but enough already.

And Paul and Meg were so perfect when they were getting together. What happened there. They are making them so dull. I can't even comment on Dusty and Lucy. Talk about shoving that couple down our throats. I hate that. Dusty should be on his own for a while and Lucy looks way to young for him. Anyways, thanx for letting me rant for awhile. Hope things look up soon. I keep checking in here to see if its getting any better yet.

It is totally a whacked out day when I applaud Mike for leaving Katie, and want to throttle Carly for taking back Simon.

Mike STFU you stupid toolbelt. You have cheated on just about every woman you've been involved with, karma's a b*tch isn't it :D

Agreed PJ. I can't stand Katie though. I wish they would write the character off the canvas. It's time to ship Kaite out of Oakdale. Carly is just plain stupid!

The writers keep writing Carly as some dummy that can't make up her mind. The sooner Simon is gone, the happier I will be....This was okay for a bit, but now it's just getting plain dumb....

Emiloon is just as bad, and so is Mixed-Up Meg.

Carly's stupidity is pure plot-driven contrivance. (If you know what's coming, you kwim...) But it's not like the azzholio writers haven't spent months spinning their wheels, and now--because it's X number of weeks until the end of contracts--they've kicked it in to overdrive. It sucks that Carly turned on a dime about forgiving Simon. If it had been even twenty-four hours, maybe I could accept it. But as it stands, I pity her, because she's obviously just in denial.

But at least Carly gets my sympathy. Not Katie. It's too bad it's not Teri going on maternity leave in the near future. I think Oakdale needs a break from her.

I would never have sympathy for Katie, simply because she acts like she's never done anything wrong...she can say all the "I'm sorries" she wants, but she's always making it like someone else drove her to do what she does. Maybe Simon can whisk her away from Oakdale so we can get a break.

It's sad when I can't even sit through an entire episode of ATWT and have to FF through 3/4 of the show.

I caught yesterday's show and loved seeing Mike tell Katie to grow up but Mike & Carly should STFU..they really don't have much right to act self-righteous towards Simon & Katie since they were exactly in the same position as those two not so long ago. Not once but twice. The only one I like in this entire mess is Simon. He's not going around acting like what he did wasn't wrong but at the same time, he's not really blaming anyone else but himself.

When did they age Faith???

Jade looks a lot like that chick who used to play Hilary on Fresh Prince.

I've always loved the Henry/Emily friendship. They were the only scenes other than the Mike/Katie/Simon/Carly stuff that I didn't FF through.

I'd be watching the Craig scenes (which I did a little bit off) if it weren't for the fact he was being villanized to pimp Lucy.

Dusty is total FF material..I just despise that character now.

Paul & Meg..I used to like in the very beginning but after the Emily crap and Paul's tirades, my love for them has completely vanished.

Anyway, I could only take so much of this crap before I stopped watching again and so after only a week, I've taken it off my VCR schedule. Someone let me know when something good happens.

They just aged Faith this week. And that's exactly who Jade looks like...Karyn Parsons.

Say what you want about Carly and Mike...they sure weren't the loves of each other's lives that re-boinked. I think that's Mike's point. The "once I'm gone, I'm never coming back" was a little drama-queenish, but I can see how he can't trust anything Katie says.

And am I supposed to believe that when Katie is trashing Simon every chance she gets? The way she denies her feelings for Simon doesn't seem to make her real feelings for him all the more obvious..it just makes her more irritating to listen to and watch.

I usually like Carly but the way she treats Simon like a yoyo is just as aggravating. It really did look like she ended things with him so for her to act like she's been cheated on when she never really acted like their relationship meant much more than business is overdramaticizing things. Also, Carly has been exactly where Simon has been. The situations may be a little different but the similarities I think, overpower those differences.

Lucy and Dusty are useless characters. I change the channel when they're on. Everything between them makes me cringe. I'm still astonished that people love this couple so much. They (the couple) make me want to puke.

I'm glad that Mike left Katie. But a part of me just doesn't give a you-know-what. They're such an pointless couple anyway. I can't even remember all the reasons why they've broken up in the past...they're just so unforgetable. But the whole triangle w/ Simon is the same old crap. Too bad they had to involve other important characters in this disaster of a storyline.

I think it's obvious (or at least has been for quite some time) that the writers just can't write for Katie. Why she's still on the show and getting airtime 24/7 is beyond me. The character hasn't had a good storyline is eons.

The writers sure now how to ruin characters: Carly and Katie are both idiots, Simon is a dirty pig, Jack is just pathetic, and Mike is a pointless character.
