ah. He does suck then for the backburner comments.

I can't say I blaim him for Dan and Heather though. I know I'd try to get every penny out of an employer I could, its up to the show to say No and let him walk and the others stay.

I'm definitely not going to praise Michael Easton, as he was one of the factors that made me end my brief viewership of OLTL in 2003.

6 weeks for him = 6 months for everyone else

this from the guy who's been on almost every [!@#$%^&*] day for two [!@#$%^&*] years. Screw you, Michael Easton. Go to hell. Arrogant bastard.

Michael Easton should've been let go and John McBain should really be dead. Dan Gauthier and Heather Tom are worth a helluva lot more than Easton, or the rest of the newbys especially non-talents Tobias Truvillion(Vincent) and Mikey Jerome(Ted) and the I'm so sick of using up airtime Paul Satterfield(Spencer), Forbes March(Nash) & Kerry Butler(Claudia), whom I also think is pretty talentless, stick to your Broadway gigs, lmao.

Then he should have shut his [!@#$%^&*] mouth and not been so damned arrogant about it. He's an [!@#$%^&*].

Just as I always suspected.

but they don't move plot. They focus on a small amount of bad actors, and the episodes are mostly filler. And the plots they do have - suck. ABC Daytime as a whole is tripe. I don't think anything could salvage those horrible shows.

well then the same thing can be said about the shows focusing on a large cast with good story that moves plot. The problem isnt the cast size and focus; its the bad writing

Smaller cast rotation works great, IMO. DAYS has been doing it since Beth has been writing interim and, while some cite poor balance, I think it's better than it's ever been.

ME is a pig just like Frons.

Also, any commenting made about firing Erika Slezak for more $$$ for anyone is the biggest bunch of bullshit ever uttered. ES MADE OLTL, what has the vampire done? NOTHING! We can't even get to see Viki on the show, all thanks to ME and his $$$ grubbing claws while people like HT and DG are fired for him and ES loses out on her character's family being let go. Screw ME and FRons and HInsey too.

I think the OLTL cast is too large and I agree with the suggestion of rotation. Real rotation. I'd think 25 was the appropriate number. Still I don't agree with ME and think he showed his ignorance on multiple levels and I agree he's an ass. The people I know who love(d) the show watched for the family relationships. If we take Asa, Clint, Bo, Matthew, Kevin, Joey, Jess, Viki, Dorian, Cassie, Blair, Kelly and Adrianna we're essentially at 14 and this show requires more than the Buchanan/Lord/Cramers to work. That alone show's how uninformed ME's suggestion is.

The other problem that ME dismisses is that in the absence of a contractual relationship with the show the actors aren't going to just be waiting to work for a third rate soap on a third rate network. Especially the ones with some degree of talent. Not to mention it takes far longer than 13 weeks to develop a charcter on a soap. His suggestions ignore the reality of the show. If I'm a Kevin only fan am I going to watch the 14 weeks of John ? Is the show supposed to develop a new following every 14 weeks?

ME needs to concentrate on his acting since it is bad enough. The last thing he needs to be involved in is the writing and producing.

Still no one has taken me up on my question who are the 14?

1. Viki

2. Dorian

3. Nora

4. Kevin

5. Kelly

6. Blair

7. Todd

8. Jess

9. Nash

10. Bo.

11. Joey

12. Adrianna

13. Layla

14. Rachael

So following ME's suggestion who are the 14 who stay?

He didn't really say OLTL should only have 14 cast members, he just said that was how many that were on contract at PC.....

I watch OLTL every so often, ME's is always on the days I decide to watch. Michael Easton and Paul Satterfield's characters seem like they just suck the life out of the show, and so much of the show revolves around the 2 of them.....

Well, he has a lot of nerve, doesn't he? Of course, when execs cater to your every whim, cut the cast to keep you, and make every attempt to make the show about one character, the results are obvious: An Actor Can Get Hung Up On Himself, And Actually Think His Ideas Are Gospel.

I didn't like him on Days, I never watched him on Port Charles, and from what I've seen, I don't like his Hackley infused character on OLTL.

That show is a mess, and I don't see it staying stable in the ratings race.

I don't believe just because you're an hour show you have to have a big cast. Soaps would be far more interesting if they only focused on a small amount of people and filled the hours with moving plot. (ie the MNTV lineup)

I agree. But you have to focus on the RIGHT people. I don't feel like those people need to be John, Natalie, Spencer, Paige, Hugh, Adrianna, etc.

The most interesting characters on OLTL are the ones they keep on the backburner or recurring status.

I'm all for shrinking casts, but not for the sake of doing it. I want to see talented actors and veteran characters front burner. Otherwise, why not just create a new soap?!

LMAO!

OLTL: Naked Eyes!

LOL...Despite the fact that this is funny, it actually scares me. The last thing I want is to see a subtitled OLTL and Michael Easton's trashy garage band voice singing every single theme for the storylines.

Easton said this? He can take his crocodile tears about Dan and Heather, and his suggestions based on a failed show, his last victim IMO, and shove them up his dirty looking ass.

My suggestion? OLTL should have let him walk.

ITA, OLTL should have damned well let him walk. What has he brought to this show? This is the problem. People talk about Maurice Bernard and GH, the MAJOR difference between Bernard and all of the other pimps on ABC, is that Bernard was big for GH in the first place, he brought in the ratings and had a big fan following. Easton was placed on OLTL and was treated like he was gold to the show before he delivered!! Easton has NOT brought in the ratings and his faux popularity is obviously not driving the show into safe grounds.

Anyways, 14 people that could deliver OLTL:

Viki

Dorian

Todd

Blair

Kevin

Kelly

Jessica

Bo

Lindsay

RJ

Nora

David

Clint

Starr

I only posted a part of the article. It's an interview with CH. That segment is a part of a discussion of his signing a new contract. She asks him if his new salary cost DG and HT their jobs. They then discuss the concept of a core character such as Kevin needing a rest. Considering that Kevin has been residing on the back burner for the better part of the past two years the context is rather insulting.

You're kidding right??????:rolleyes: Kevin has not had anything to do for the past 2 years! And he just returned too...

I agree. But you have to focus on the RIGHT people. I don't feel like those people need to be John, Natalie, Spencer, Paige, Hugh, Adrianna, etc.

Exactly... during OLTL's re-girth when Malone returned in 02/03 (?) he focused on a specific group and they were all the vets, Viki, Dorian, Jessica, Blair, Todd and brought back familiar characters, Kelly, Kevin, Joey. These are characters close to viewer's heart, much the opposite of Paige, Hugh, Michael, Spencer and most certainly JOHN...

oh, nope, nope. Yall don't get to diss Dena Higley now.

"She's doing such great things for OLTL", "she's saved the show". Days viewers knew the other shoe would drop, we tried warning yall, too late to complain about character rotation now :P :P
