The continued genocide is horrendous. Allowing things like this to happen and turning a blind or probably secretly condoning this is why so many around the world laugh at the UN and hold the almighty United States in contempt. These people are ripe for ISIS recruitment lets not forget either. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/11/world/asia/rohingya-myanmar-atrocities.html

This is my last response to you YOU cannot debate YOU parrot everything you read on twitter YOU have no self awareness YOU haven't read one story about the victims(they are in the NY TImes) YOU haven't read the article in the New Yorker YET YOU claim to know all the facts I am willing to debate but not with ignorant uninformed trolls who parrot twitter. And frankly if you ever listened to one victim of harassment, this would not be a political issue. YOU CHOSE TO MAKE IT THAT. Look in the mirror and try to educate yourself. Not one person here has talked about this being tied to politics other than you. Unfollowed.

Since when did this become a political issue asswipe. Try reading a newspaper, try reading about the millions of stories written about women who have been harassed for years in every industry. You're just another ignorant male promoting rape culture because nothing is your fault and have to judge the victims to cover for your own inadequacy. Obviously you know NOTHING about harassment and intimidation or this failing patriarchal society that exists that's failing because of MEN. You guys have all the control and still have to excuse your pathetic actions and failures on women.

Trump's threats to pull NBC's license (he can't) is not a first. Richard Nixon's team actually researched doing this for a TV station owned by the Washington Post in 1973-74 https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/10/11/trumps-threat-to-nbc-license-is-exactly-what-nixon-did/?utm_term=.397853f88aa2

So we're all back to blaming women for this. You men can f off and start holding your own gender to the level of culpability you hold us to. This reminds me of the Bill Cosby ish when women were coming out 30 years later. TIMES HAVE CHANGED. Yet even now you assholes have to find a way to blame the women who were the victims.

It proves that Trump is not necessary to get nutjobs elected. It's also been overlooked that this election had a 13% voter turnout which is about 15% below what is normal in Alabama for a primary. Tells me that people were not really satisfied with either option. I do think folks are frustrated with business as usual in congress but it doesn't mean they are all interested in voting for a lunatic. I guess we'll see when the GE comes along. On another topic, the House Intel Committee is going to release to the public the Russian purchases Facebook ads. Good to see since the Senate Committee sounded like that was not happening with them http://www.businessinsider.com/house-intelligence-committee-says-it-will-release-russian-facebook-ads-2017-10

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-wanted-dramatic-increase-nuclear-arsenal-meeting-military-leaders-n809701 Frightening. No understanding of history. I'm continually disturbed at how many balances we have for the executive branch. Lord if we had a functioning congress they might actually put some checks and balances back in place. I still can't believe how quickly the United States has deteriorated.

Except we are not just talking about North Korea. if we launch an attack it will ultimately involve China and possibly Russia. Lots of people in this country have the attitude out of sight out of mind. Many don't understand why so many in the Middle East hate us. I listen to my sister in law who thinks they hate us for our freedom. They have no clue that it's because the US has bombed so many countries there and have sold arms to countries like Saudi Arabia.

Except those same people really don't care about treating the mentally ill. They gut any funding and services available so yeah not or never have bought this. They only use the mental illness label to justify mass shootings by white men and then do nothing in terms of mental illness health reform. NEXT So interesting article on the gerrymandering case being take up by the Supreme Court. Gorsuch is even a bigger grandstander than Scalia but it's refreshing to see Ruth Ginsburg slap this fool back into silence. And the reports on this yesterday is encouraging as Kennedy's questions in particular seemed to lead to the gerrymandering from his position possibly being a violation of the first amendment. But of course no decision. At the end of the day it would be great to see this lead to what Schwarzenegger did in California. https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/ginsburg-slaps-gorsuch NEXT the ACLU is taking the case of a Hawaii doctor suing the FDA so that women are allowed to get the abortion pill from pharmacies. https://www.buzzfeed.com/emaoconnor/the-aclu-is-suing-the-fda-to-let-women-get-the-abortion?utm_term=.ej8nGOZ1D&bftwnews#.nwL82GyZ3

Saudi Arabia and our coziness is public example number 1 of US chastising anyone violating human rights is total hypocrisy. They execute homosexuals in SA so of course why would the US condemn it. It's already happening. All the sucking up to the likes of John Kasich. While I respect his pushback on the repeal of Obamacare, his state has helped institute policies that have contributed to the degradation of the middle class(he was a TPP supporter lest anyone forget) and have gone hog-wild on their own voter suppression tactics targeting minorities. Like Bush he comes across caring but he's also smarter than Bush or Trump and could do a heck of a lot more damage.

Ok I m frankly tired iod people holding up George Bush s some paragon of virtue. I admit to my own guilt in some capacity but its time we stop pretending that the delay in New Orlleans was not tied to the same reason's there is a delay in Puerto Rico. Bush's administration is some ways was the more competent version of Trump and they actually got a major attack on our soil to use as leverage for much of their awfulness.

Seriously the incompetence in this administration is astounding and is now physically hurting people. but their stupidity, incompetence is frankly sociopathic. The acting Head of Homeland Security is running around telling people this is a good news story, the advisor to HS Bossert is saying that putting a 3 star general in Puerto Rico right after the hurricane hit would have been a waste. And FEMA is telling people that they have to register for aide using the internet or a phone, neither of which is usable there. Water and food were there but sitting on barges waiting to be trucked out but no truck drivers, no one to organize the effort or clear the roads to get to people, and Trump is running around talking about how much debt they have. Now it's likely there will be a cholera breakout due to lack of clean water for over 9 days. The one time I will give the media credit. They have been on point on this since the hurricane hit and I fear had they not been making this front and center for all Americans to see and hear about, how much more this crisis would have been sidelined.

https://www.thenation.com/article/why-american-democracy-has-descended-into-collective-hysteria/ I think there is a lot of truth in this article about the punditry and the US losing it's "number 1" mantra. Both have been going on for years. I've been feeling for a long time the US's mantra as the number 1 superpower is and has been slipping for years. There are a lot of factors, but we stopped for example fighting for noble causes and more for economic reasons after WW2. Roosevelt had to drag the US kicking and screaming into the "Old World" war, and now we don't bat an eye on sending troops or bombing anyone. I do wonder if the militarization of the US starting after the last world war has been the real driving factor behind where this country is at today. Eisenhower in his farewell speech warned Americans of this. He obviously saw it coming and in some ways participated in it himself. I take issue with Trump = bad, Sanders = good. This country needs bold fresh leadership which I feel we had under Obama, where it was squandered. No I do not blame Obama I blame the many of us who took him for granted and didn't come out in droves to support him and some of the initiatives that could have been.

Oh I just want to hear one Susan Sarandon or Nomiki Konst to come after Michelle Obama and see how African American women start fleeing the dems in even greater numbers. I am just so sick of Tom Perez basically staying silent on this stuff and not embracing these women first and foremost.

A couple more special elections tonight, one in New Hampshire in a heavy GOP district, and one in Florida what was a key race, both won by democrats On to Puerto Rico Seriously while Trump is busy having a twitter war with the @NFL, there are now 16 deaths in Puerto Rico. The mayor of San Juan was on TV being interviewed tonight crying and begging for help. She said there are FEMA folks there but no leadership or direction, so they are basically waiting for orders from someone at FEMA to know where they are to be deployed. The 5 Presidents effort is being expanded now to include Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands

Ok I wasn't going to but I watched the healthcare debate on CNN last night. Now I hope most know I am no Bernie fan but he did a good job and Amy Klobacher who has not endorsed Medicare for All talked about everything and the sun EXCEPT that and she knows her stuff. I thought she came across smart, warm, and compassionate Ok I know it's bias, but frankly I thought Graham and Cassidy were awful. Their own hypocrisy was hard to miss. And many of their falsehoods debunked. And I hope this entire notion of patriotism etc that Trump is trying to fire up with this STUPID NFL stuff finally showed to the dummies what it's really about. Even Jerry Jones came out and kneeled with his team, which they all did by the way BEFORE the anthem and then stood up for the anthem. They were still booed.

I am not trying to make light of this. It's terrible. But these are Adapt folks. They know their *hit and know what they are doing. This happened the last go around too. I remember watching some guy dragged from a wheelchair in handcuffs across the floor out of the building as he was protesting outside McConnell's office. It's horrid yes but also strategic.

It sounds like based on @huntress in Germany this was not entirely unexpected. And in retrospect with some problems in Germany tied to the refugees, it should have been expected to some extent by the rest of us. BUT http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/09/25/tony-blair-donald-trump-global-politico-215642 This is the problem IMO is that people like Blair have no answer for some of the issues people are upset about(income inequality) and then as usual takes a shot at the US democrats hyber focus on Identity Politics and how out of touch Clinton was - unreal.. Yes he has some valid points in terms of the Corbyn's and Sanders, but the fact there are issues that have driven supporters in their direction he is blind to. He has no answers and frankly I feel Macron is going to replicate the policies have led to some of the economic issues folks are dealing with. Frankly I loath this man more than I loath Bush. I wish he would STFU. His time has passed.

So many similarities and it's terrifying the exploitation of these fears. In the US in many ways we are still litigating The Civil War and that happened 150 plus years ago. And of course here the "blacks are free" but we just come up with ways to continue forms of enslavement to this day, Jim Crow, private prisons, the war on drugs . Couple that with our own anti immigrant fervor, and that's how someone like Trump happens.
